I am a self-proclaimed percussion freak, so you can imagine how I felt when I realized who was creating the percussion for Home Free. I saw them live a couple of months ago and Adam's solo knocked me flat. I highly recommend looking for one of the videos from the 2022 Christmas tour. In the first half of his set he used a looper so he could sing and harmonize with himself over the drum line - doing Carol of the Bells. Unbelievable. Totally deserving of the standing ovation he got.

Adam is very modest but Tim Foust has said that Adam has hit the highest note in the group and his range is broader than Tim's five octaves.

Tim also said in an interview once that Adam is the magic behind HF. I think it embarrased the hell out of Adam but I think Tim's right because as wonderful as they are on their solo projects as a group I don't think they would be as wonderful without Adam.

Love Adam Rupp & his insane talent. He is the best out there in my opinion. He simulates the sounds of a drum perfectly. Many drummers have commented on how good he is. He sounds so realistic. His breath control must be crazy. I heard he makes the sounds both while inhaling & exhaling. This was a few years ago & hard to believe but he is even better now. Adam is the glue that holds Home Free together. He is their secret weapon which other a cappella groups can't match.

Thank you so much for reacting to this video. Adam is Home Frees' secret weapon. I never knew anything about beat boxing/vocal percussion until I discovered Home Free and I became fascinated with Adam's talent and skill. He has been honing his skills for over twenty years and has become even more skilled since this video. Someone asked him how long it took him to learn to beat box and he answered, "I'm still learning." All of Home Free are multi talented and I think you will enjoy all of their solo work. Together they are magic, tho'. Thanks again for a great reaction. So glad you enjoyed it.

His talent is just amazing. His nicknames are Freak of Nature or his is an Alien. This was made nine years ago and his skills have greatly improved. Now that you have seen his first drum solo there are later ones on YT you can check out. When he does sing he has a great tenor voice. Thank as always for a great reaction and you have a blessed day.

I love watching people react to this video. It's an older video and he's continued to hone his craft but this is my favorite. I love too that he looks embarrassed by the audience's reaction that they continued to applaud even after he took a second bow. It's absolutely amazing that he taught himself. He said when they did their first show he could only make 3 sounds. To top it off he has a naturally beautiful voice that blends so well with the others when he harmonizes. Like you I would love to know his range because you hear him "drop the bass" and in Listen to the Music he hits a beautiful clear eerie high note that everyone at first assumed was Austin until they actually watched the video closely.

Adam is the glue of the group. He's so incredible . He does it so great. It's not only the mouth sounds but also the moves that he does. I think a very good explanation for this: Adam Rupp is inhuman. 😉 He is a drum alien in Angelguise. You just have to because he is so unbelievably good(and handsome too😊😍)!! Like he swallowed a drum kit. And then vocally he can also make so many more (instrument) sounds which is not normal

I don't know what Adam's range is but you just heard him hit the low notes of the didgeridoo and, when you react to 'Listen to the Music' (you will, won't you? 😄), you can hear him hitting the high notes during the song's breakdown.

Sometimes i listen to Adam Rupp with my eyes closed and try to imagine what the drum kits look like that he has in his brain. I mean in that one alone we got a great sampling of his talent at the time. His more recent ones are mind blowing when it comes to how good they are. Glad you got to this one. I totally recommend any of their live performances. A good start would be "Joy to the World". Its from several years ago....Their evolution is apparent but they've always been really talented, "Ain't Goin Down til the Sun Comes up" live is absolutely stunning. Great stuff.

What Adam does is quite incomprehensible to the mind. I've seen Home Free live 18 times, and I've seen and heard Adam do his solo live as many times, and it still is completely mind-blowing, and I still don't quite grasp it. You mentioned his showmanship and Home Free as a whole are great showmen. A Home Free concert is so much more than just the music, it's also the fun, the laughter, the emotions, the bass (Tim's, Chance's and Adam's) rumbling the air and through your body, the interaction with the audience and it's constantly mind-blowing and heart opening from beginning to end. Thanks for the reaction. I highly recommend reacting to this live gem that to me shows not only their showmanship, but also their talent, their humor, their friendships, and the atmosphere of their concerts. Oh, and even though I've seen it more than 100 times, yup it's worth it, I still laugh out loud and cry tears watching it. Looking forward to the reaction.

I love your reactions to Home Free and especially when you see some of the stuff they do either on tour or individually. I have personally seen them 3 times and I have to tell you, in spite of what you know, it still won't prepare you for the physical experience of being there when Tim makes the concrete vibrate or Adam does his insane solo's. You should also check out their "From The Vault" stuff because it's behind the scenes of their video shoots. They are crazy!! Also wondering Cole if the copyright issue is the fact that you are a record label and record in your own right. Even though you class them as "reactions" maybe they are looking at you as competition. Just a thought....probably wrong but thought I would at least say something. Oh yay! You finally got to this. Yeah the Buddy Rich of beatboxers alright. He’s amazing. That’s why Home Free doesn’t need instruments. Funnily enough on their latest album they do use some instruments on some songs but it’s ok by me as they don’t do it too often. I love So Long Dixie and Adam does his amazing harmonica along with Chris Chatham’s guitar. Also Giving Up on You, they collaborate with Texas Hill and there’s piano and guitar in it. Good reaction Cole!🥰

I think he has the widest vocal range of all of them and he sings tenor...he can do deep bass throat roll that you would think would be Tim...he studied trumpet which helped him with breathing...one technique in playing trumpet is to use circular breathing where you can expell breath through your mouth while simultaneously breathe in through your nose.

If you have some time before copyright issues are done, Tim has some travel logs online that are pretty funny - Southerner on the Snow is incredibly funny. There are fan videos of “Uncle Tim Runs His Mouth” or “Story-time with Tim” that are well worth watching! There are also live performances from fans online - the “derailed” performance videos are always entertaining.

Hey Cole ! Interesting to hear you lived in Austrailia for a year....it's on my bucket list for sure. I have a close female friend ( :) ) who has a nephew who lives in the Sydney suburbs with his wife & two toddler boys, and they love it there. I hope you were old enough to retain some fond memories of the land of Oz !. How about a suggestion to listen to Chance and the Hound & the Fox collab on Wayfaring Stranger, and I say this because I'm not sure you've had a chance yet to appreciate his great voice (he sings baritone most of the time but fills in bass for Tim when he goes to his tenor voice), and in Wayfaring Stranger you get to hear Chance sing his bass and with some gravel to it....the arrangement they have for this is also OUTSTANDING. Just search for Adam Chance wayfaring stranger and it should come up. I really really think you'll enjoy it.

Adam Rupp was, I believe, a 2 time world champion vocal percussionist. Can you tell after listening to him that some of those skills remain? Was so happy when I saw you had checked this out. As a musician I knew it would mean more to you from the skills point rather than just wow factor. Be well good Sir and thank you again. 🙂

Adam's later drum solos, after going back on the road after quarantine, are a bit different. He uses a looper now for layers of his various vocal sounds and has expanded the bird/insect/whatever it is sound around the didgeridoo that sounds like he being strafed. I think it would be interesting to compare then to now. Also there's a short video - 36 seconds - called Leaving Adam out to dry on stage you might get a kick out of. It's what happens when the guys lose track of time during Adam's solo.
