Yes, a great line--but it's "in a silk dress," not "with a silk dress." Just that small matter of the preposition is important: it's the difference between her wearing the dress and carrying the dress.

This is pretty much a perfectly written and produced song.

Credit the production to the sound engineer, Alan Parsons, which also engineered Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album.

Al Stewart is a great Scottish singer-songwriter & folk-rock musician. He was big in the 70's. I had his album "Year Of The Cat" & "Time Passages". All the songs on both are great. "Year Of The Cat" is one of my favorites songs. Love the sax solo.

This rabbit hole is very very deep. The man has at least 16 studio albums plus a few live albums

The piano, sax, and violin all really add to this song. Always loved it! An interesting tidbit, Al Stewart is Rod Stewart's cousin.

I’ve seen Al Stewart a few times in concert from PA to CA. I would suggest Lord Grenville, Broadway Hotel, Sand in Your Shoes, Song on the Radio, Time Passages etc. He is a great songwriter and performer with an awesome band. Highly recommend the great Al Stewart!

He was a Scottish born singer-songwriter and folk-rock musician really started in the 60's but his big hits came in the 70's. He only had a few hits here in the US but his music is well liked and overseas he did extremely well. The whole album "Year of The Cat" is well done.. Time Passages is another good song by him that rose in the charts.. I think you might enjoy a song by Van Morrison called "Twilight Zone" off his Philosopher's Stone Album, or maybe a song by Gregg Allman called "Queen of Hearts" from his Album Live: Back To Macon, GA

Immaculately produced by Alan Parsons (who had earlier been an engineer on Beatles records at Abbey Road studios and later had hits as leader of the Alan Parson Project). Phil Kenzie plays the sax solo. Peter White played the acoustic guitar solo and Tim Renwick played the electric guitar solo. Al Stewart made some incredible records in the '70s.

I once ran into Al Stewart, literally. It was at a show he and Dave Mason were doing, I was going to the head and he was coming to the stage from the back, and we came face-to-face, and man did he look just like a cat! We almost bumped into each other, but we didn't, smiled at each other, and we each continued to our destinations. His was the more important. BTW, it was a GREAT show.

AL STEWART, "YEAR OF THE CAT". If ever asked, "WHAT WAS 70'S MUSIC LIKE?" My answer would be "GROOVY!" Every song of the decade, every jaundra, Mixed into a Smorgasbord of glorious music. Enjoy...

"On a morning from a Bogart movie In a country where they turn back time You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre Contemplating a crime She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running Like a watercolor in the rain Don't bother asking for explanations She'll just tell you that she came In the year of the cat" Do those lyrics paint a picture in your mind's eye or what Life With Stan? One of the best songs from the 70s ever written!
