Lots of people noted that Barney is slang for a sheriff/cop (because of Barney Fife) but the gun here would be the speed gun. He was stopped for speeding and the sheriff asked about his accent. "We like the girls who sing soprano" is implying that the person who hit on him was either a dude in drag or a trans woman.

@@Zyphorius if you look on any lyrics board, almost every explain offered is that the tall woman is either trans or a drag queen. Keep in mind, this is the part of the song where he’s in Ventura, California. He lost the universal joint (some part that helps the front axis of a vehicle move) so his truck is immobile. So he had to “use his finger” to “thumb a ride”/hitch hike, and finger rhymes better with Ventura than thumb. “A tall lady stopped and asked if I had plans for dinner” meaning someone stopped to offer him a ride and presumably found him attractive “no thanks ma’am back home we like the girls that sing sopran(a)” to imply that where he comes from, biological women are preferred.

Quick fun fact about Alan Jackson. During the CMT awards one year, the people that put it on insisted he use a music track (assuming it was to make sure it was a clear sound for TV). Jackson didn't want to basically lip synch, but they told him how it was going to be. So to protest it, he took the strings off his guitar and told his drummer to leave his sticks in the dressing room so the whole thing would look ridiculous on tv.

Yeah, southern sweet tea. 2 cups of sugar in a half gallon of tea. At least that's how my mom who was from Kentucky made it. We used an old glass 1/2 gallon milk bottle and it had a lid on it and sat on the cabinet. And if you emptied that bottle you better damn sure make another one. You didn't want to find out what happened if someone went to get tea and there was none there
