This song was originally recorded by the late Keith Whitley and is a country masterpiece this version by Alison Krause is also iconic but there's also a version through recording magic combining the two versions and sounds like a duet that is also a iconic look it up

I love your reaction to this song I have been listening to this song for a long time I was there when it was written by my best friend (kieth Whitley) back in the 80's he recorded it in 88 it was released in 89 and I have loved it since the beginning losing him was a big blow to country music and music in general he was a great friend and an all around great person he wrote this song for his wife Lori Morgan (also a country artist ) it is what he felt about her

@@SouthernPride unforunately you are incorrect Don and Paul only refined the song and Kieth gave them credit for writing Kieth was like that and trust me I would know I knew him for a few years the song was written for Lori and he had a bit more than what the actual released version was and Don told him that he would refine it for him then he enlisted Paul to help him finish it I promise you that is the real story

I always hated "Whiskey Lullaby." The second half of the song ruins it, because it requires you to feel empathy for the cheating spouse that contributed to her ex's downward spiral to death. In which I have none.. And then they have to nerve to place her beside him under the willow.

This genre is normally not my very first choice but I appreciate ALL MUSIC & this lady are in my opinion some of the best overall. Also if not mistaken Emilou Harris started out background singing with some of Struggle Jennings family Waylon's wife. I don't think I have that wrong but now Allison she has alotta bluegrass roots which has much to do with the whole of many kinds of music really. I'm a rocker at heart first but now love me some rap hip hop & all that but being from Tennessee I grew up steeped ☕ in some sweet country so guess you can say I'm all meshed up 😂😆

"The Lucky One" (Grammy winner) by Alison Kraus (vocals) & Union Station (instrumentalists) may simply be the most perfectly crafted, beautifully musically arranged, and lyrically well-written (Robert Lee Castleman) 3-minute pop-country/bluegrass song. The first time I ever heard it - back in the early 2000s -the song wasn't even halfway over and I just matter-of-factly blurted out, "This song is going to win a Grammy." 1-for-1 in my one and only Grammy prediction... If you decide to react to it, I highly recommend the studio lyric (music only) version. The official video for the song doesn't do it justice.

They'res over 26 million people than live in the Appalachian Mountain range and a lot people are hillbillies! Bluegrass is in our blood!
