First time I heard Aurora (I didn't know even her name), I was digging the music of another nowegian band which recreates old nordic music with old instruments, Wardruna (their lead singer Einar Selvik made some music for the TV Serie "Vikings") She was their guest in one of their concerts, in their song Helvegen: Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen (Live): kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJ_Ohah-hZ6kadE It triggered in me something strong enough to make me want to dig her personnal work, if there was any. And WOW, what a "personnal work" she has!!!🤩 I guess you'll watch it, you really should, for your own sake...😀 Her musical palette is really wide, especially live as she sometimes reinterprets completely her songs in specific concerts or live sessions, that's how creative she is. Reacting to Murder Song in the same venue could be a perfect next one, as its genre and its instrumentation are different from this one: AURORA - MURDER SONG (5,4,3,2,1) - The 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJmThIqKi9yLrtk Anyway, thanks for the nice reaction to Aurora, this so bright and genuine singing little moth.🙂👍

Heard her first on Howard Stern singing “Is There Life on Mars.” That was like 5 years ago. Picked her back up 2 years ago while searching for that performance (which is hauntingly beautiful), and then seeing her on a late night show and saw a different side of her. After just a few more clicks and listens I was hooked and often in tears. No artist has ever gotten to me like her. Previously my favorite was Adam Duritz and the counting crows. Both favs of people with experience with pain. Like everyone..lol.

Aurora was 19 here in 2015 even if she looks even younger, she is 27 now and she is from Norway. She writes all her music and lyrics, and has released 3 albums and 2 EPs, and is working on the 4th album now. She started playing piano and learning it by herself at age 6, and already starting to make her own melodies, and at age 9 she started writing lyrics in English. She was only writing songs for her own enjoyment, and it helped her to process her emotions. She never wanted to be a singer, she just wanted to write songs for herself, and maybe for other artists in the future. She didn't reveal it to her family until age ~14, and her mother convinced her to try to pursue it, because the songs made her feel both happy and sad, and Aurora should share this gift with more people. Regarding being barefoot she doesn't have a specific story, she just does not like wearing shoes when performing, because she is moving and dancing a lot, and I guess it feels constricting. She was a dancer first before a singer, she went to a dancing school from age 6 to 16, but gave it up to pursue the music instead. She said at the 2018 KEXP show "Life is better without shoes". She is not always barefoot, instead wearing socks only. I heard Aurora first in the song "Into The Unknown" from Frozen 2, she is doing that high ethereal voice in Frozen 2 calling to Elsa. But the first "real" song I heard from her, was a cover song: The cover of Teardrop by Massive Attack on the youtube channel "triplej".

First time I heard Aurora was in the penultimate episode in a season of the Flash tv show. Song was so beautiful and heartbreaking just like the episode. Song was called Murder Song. Then I checked out the live version at the Nobel Peace Prize and it was somehow even better. Been a fan ever since.

I noticed Aurora in the media around 2014/2015, and the first performance I remember is Half the world away and Runaway from this concert. I watched it to see Aha I think. I remember thinking she was wierd, but with a fantastic voice. The next was the mindblowing performances at the Nidarosdomen concert in 2015, I remember thinking about I was so surprised! But the defining moment was the corona pandemic. When covid hit all my hobbies closed down, and I got bored with series and tv. Then I figurd I would start listening to music again, like I did in the 80's, early 90's. I figured I would start with Norwegian artists, like support the lokal artists. I found Sigrid, Skaar and others, but then I started listening and watching this strange and wierd artist Aurora. She had a voice like no other, but the way she performed pulled me in. Then I learned about what the song means and about her, and I fell in love with her "work". Her message that grabbed me the most was simply that we should let people be who they are. People are different, and it is fantastic to be uniq. The drive to be perfect is like trying to find the gold at the end of the rainbow, it does not exist, and it is in a different place depending on your angel. I watched "everything" on KZbin, and tv, and last year the time had come: I was going to see her live! And it was in her home town Bergen. I was in Bergen the day before, on her birthday actually, and I met her on the street. I am 53 years old, have not had problems to talk to anybody ever, but I froze.... I did not manage to say a singel word... How silly... and surprising 😅. When the day of the consert arrived I was ready, I knew what to expect, I knew was it was going to be like.... I was SO wrong! She was BETTER! She came on stage, talked to us like she was meating family and friends, explained to us that she was planning to dance a lot, and that we might see her underware 😂. Then she took me on a journey that is like the nature of Norway, mild, gentle and stunning in one minute and powerful and wild the next. In "running with the wolfes" her eyes was so wild and intence she scared me a bit 😂. You know what? I dont think Aurora sings, she just open up her heart and soul to us. Now I have seen her live 5 times, and in every concert she surprises me again.... At her concert in Kongsberg I stood 3-4 meters from her parents and one of her sisters. I so wanted to shake their hands and thank them for supporting Aurora so she can do what she does. I would espessially thank her mother that basicly convinced her to share her music. But I did not want to disturb them... And it is a bit embarrassing also... But I strongly feel that she is something special.... I am not the best writer, I know, and sometimes it is difficult to translate to english also, but I hope the essence is ok 😊

I did hear "Runaway" on TikTok couple of times but had no idea who she was and didn't research her. However, one day I was sent the official music video of "runaway" and was immediately captivated. I listened to it around a 100 times before proceeding to another song of her's. Little did I know I was gonna become an addict of Aurora 😅 I'm glad you picked the live performance of "runaway" as your first Aurora video. The official music video is beautiful but it's very clear she did not have a say in the fashion choice of it so it kinda feels off. However: Every video after that and every live performance feels a 100% Aurora. :-)

Welcome to AURORA. You are going to totally enjoy the journey down this wonderful rabbit hole. Anything she does is outstanding, but live is better. A couple of suggestions: "Lucky" at Nidarosdomen (and this emtire concert), "Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1)" from the Nobel concert, "It Happened Quiet" live at the Currant. Enjoy.

As a little girl in Norway she spent a lot of time in the forest with the animals day and night and has always been special. She was terrified of performing but wanted to share her music and thoughts. In her introduction to Heathens at Rough Trade East, London, she talks about “the Mother who takes care of the people who aren’t welcome in heaven.” Like me. A comforting thought. Aurora is a fairy/angel. Tatiana is a berserker. Floor is a Valkyrie. What is Maria with Heilung? I appreciate your take on her. Good on ya guy! 😊

Get ready for the huge influx of us AURORA fans in the comments. There isn't a single person making music right now that can compare to AURORA in terms of being the full package. She writes, she composes, she plays piano, she sings, and she dances. There simply isn't anyone like her in terms of creativity, and truly bringing something new and different to the table. For a recommendation, I'd recommend every song from the KEXP Iceland mini-concert (which was my first experience with AURORA). Especially "Forgotten Love", "Gentle Earthquakes", and "Churchyard". "Heathens", "Exhale/Inhale", and "Potion For Love" are some of my other favorite performances. As I'm sure people in the comments have mentioned, AURORA is best experienced live, but there are a few music videos that I think are essential. The first being "The Seed". Others I would recommend would be "Running With the Wolves" and "Queendom".

I've been a fan of hers for a while and she's kinda like Ren imho where her live stuff is better than studio. She's just lost in her songs and you see her snap out of them almost not knowing where she is. Hit up the live stuff before studio. Aurora - It Happened Quiet (Live at The Current) is great. All the stuff from her cathedral performance. Aurora x Pomme - Live on RHYTHM BY MODZIK is pretty cool. AURORA covers Massive Attack 'Teardrop' for Like A Version (one of the few covers of that song to do it justice). AURORA - MURDER SONG (5,4,3,2,1) - The 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert

Welcome to the world of Aurora! Yes, she's known for living the music and the lyrics in her performances. As a result, no two performances are the same, because it depends on whatever she's feeling or picking up from the crowd at the time. If you think she was into this song, just wait until you watch Murder Song from the same concert. It is intense! You asked what was the first song that hooked us on Aurora. That song and that performance is what totally hooked me, and I've been hooked ever since.

Great reaction to the lyrical genius of Aurora. I don't think there is anyone that compares to her when it comes to the total package of artistry. She writes deep, thought provoking songs and she has an incredible voice and her live performances are works of art, she is music come to life. She is so much more than a voice: singer/songwriter, record producer, exceptional dancer (10 years of lessons as a child), choreographer, authentic, unique, wonderfully weird. Her fan base is called Warrior and Weirdos for a reason. My introduction to her was about 4 years ago, KEXP Live Iceland 2018 the song, Churchyard (it stands for graveyard in Norwegian), my thought was, who is this talented, energetic weird young lady, the rest, as they say is history. She is my all time favorite multi talented artist ever. She wears no shoes because it makes her feel more grounded to the earth, which she has many songs about, Mother Earth. Her concern for our world is also genuine and not part of photo ops or need for publicity. She is not cookie cutter mainstream music, which makes me very happy, I think she would stop performing if she felt it was intruding on her personal life, she would definitely still create music, but she would probably stop world tours and stick with performing in Norway where they would let her live her private life without paparazzi hounding her, she is not in it for fame or fortune. Seriously though, what do I really know, just my hypothesis based on what I have read and seen in watching video interviews of her, perhaps she is adjusting to fame as she moves along the spectrum and would never quit, 🤷, only time will tell.

Just subscribed. First song of her's I heard was the MV of this. Immediately hooked! I'm 79 and she is hands down my favorite singer with one possible exception. Saw her live last year (Bucket List). She's quirky and funny, talked and joked with the audience between songs. Fantastic show. She's a nature lover, defiantly marches to her own drummer, reminds me of the "Flower Children" of my day.

Great reaction, Duane. Aurora is an exceptional artist, much like Angelina. The two are my favorite artists in the world, Aurora on 2nd. And much like when with Angelina, just when you think that you've got her down, she's proving that you don't 🙂 I don't recall my 1st encounter with her, but she was 14 or 15. We're both Norwegian,so it was easier over here to hear about her. But if you wanna check out one of my absolute favorites by her, then react to her song "Through The Eyes Of A Child" which she performed in Nidarosdomen here in Norway. Nidarosdomen is Norway's oldest and most beautiful cathedral, and the whole concert is just amazing. Probably THE most beautiful concert you'll ever see. Take a look and understand why I say that 🙂 Here is the link : kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJSqaq2Kr9icqac Take care and have a wonderful weekend! Much love from Norway as always ♥♥♥♥♥

Aurora was i believe 18 or 19 here and i believe she goes barefoot mainly because she is more comfortable that way. she wrote the lyrics for this song at 11 and the music at 13. Music to her is therapy and she never intended to be a singer but a couple videos from school talent shows that got put on the internet and went viral. Aurora lives each song in her head and her physical gestures are unconscious bidings of her body as she sings the song. She is the most authentic person i have ever encountered. You will find that the more intimate the setting the better she is. You should definitely check out murder song 5,4,3,2,1 from the same concert. Another good one by her is though the eyes of a child vevo stripped, its a capella and the closes thing to a heavenly sound that i can imagine.

Very nice reaction🤗 She wrote this song when she was 11 years old, and at that age she didn’t quite understand the meaning of the song, but as she grew older she knew that home meant home to her parents It’s an important song for her, and one of few songs that are about herself Aurora herself says life is better without shoes, and she often stands on her tipi toes while singing Aurora (Aurora Aksnes) is a Norwegian singer/songwriter/dancer and music producer born on the 15 of June 1996 She started writing music at the age of 6 when she found an old electric piano in the attic, she added lyrics (English) when she was 9 years old. I was at a concert in 2014, before most people knew who she was, and I unfortunately had too much to drink so I barely remember it. It was fun though lol So I don’t know if that counts😅 But it was when I saw her perform Runaway that I fell in love, and she’s still nr 1❤️ Could you please react to “Through the eyes of a child” live at Nidarosdomen (cathedral in Norway) 2017 Also an important song for her “The Seed” live at the HAIK concert 2019 And another important song for her

Great reaction! She's an incredible, natural talent. The things you describe about her "being ini the moment" are spot on, she has a way of transporting some other place when she sings, and taking the listener along. She was 11 years old I believe when she wrote this (she started writing music at 6), and at this concert she was 19. She hadn't ever planned on singing professionally, but her school friends and mother helped her understand that people could connect with and she could help others through her music. Aurora's natural singing ability is matched only by her empathy. PS coincidentally, Aurora and Angelina Jordan come from the same country (Norway). I think the bare feet are just so that she can better connect with the stage with direct contact.

Great reaction. :) For me first song I've heard by her was "Running with the Wolves", that song and music video are just amazing, and after that I started searching for more. And it was just KZbin reccomendation. :D Sometimes there are some good recommendations. :) I want to recommend another amazing female artist, her stage name is Kokia, she's japanese singer, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer, she making music in genres like folk, pop, indie, classical crossover etc. I hope you can react to her song "Gematria" live from Layers ~Lights and Shadows~ concert 2016. Gematria means way of writing words using ciphers, for example in english alphaber "A" is "1", "B" is "2" etc. This song is inspired on buddhist mantras and lyrics are in not existing language (more correctly it's mix of few languages like japanese, english, italian, french etc, I think she also used gematria there) because, like she said, emotions are the same in every languages. :) This song is like journey, amazing song and performance. In her music she using many back vocals all recorded by her. And she also performing barefoot, because she want to has better connection with stage when she performing, it's very important for her, because she beliefs that this helps her to be better performer and also to have better connection with musicians and audience. I hope you will react to her. ;) Btw, sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language and I know I'm not good at it...
