I saw BB King live - for free - in 1983. I was a prison guard - and Mr King would give shows for inmates. I happened to be assigned to that concert - and positioned in front - of the front row. I had the best seat for a BB King concert you could ever want. He was an awesome man for giving his time and energy to others - especially brothers who were being harmed by a system. I enjoyed the music with all the others in that audience. He was awesome!

Blues Boy King, the pride of Mississippi ❤. One of the GREATEST artists of any genre. I feel so blessed to have seen him in concert. So many guitarists name B.B. as their inspiration. I’ve never heard of a bad word ever spoken about the man. He is what the word “legend” means. Other great blues artists are Albert King, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Howlin’ Wolf, and the one who started it all, Robert Johnson. There are so many good blues artists out there. I got to see him at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City in 1981 when I was young. One of the most incredible shows I've ever been to. He had the entire audience in his palm the whole entire show. And it was so fun and I got goosebumps so many times and his band was so good and of course he was all over the stage with Lucille, the guitar that he played for decades. I saw him several years later when he was older and then I saw him at an outdoor festival with other blues luminaries when he was extremely old and right before he stopped playing. He was so shrunken and shriveled compared to his normal robust self and he sat in a chair and it was a very short set but he still had Lucille and his band was still good and he sounded fantastic! Koko Taylor came out for one of the numbers.

He opened his first club on Beale St. BB stands for Blues Boy he got the name when he was young on Beale St. Elvis would go play with all the guys when he was in high school. Elvis and BB knew each other since they were young men. I have had the honor on seeing BB and alot of the old blues greats at the Bealse st music fest they have the first of May every yr And in the clubs on Beale. Nobody like BB and "Lucille ". Unfortunately Most of the greats have passed in the last 10/20 yrs. Memphis is the home Of the Blues. If you want some R&B listen to some Stax music from Memphis . Any will do. Good reaction guys! BB King is a great guitarist but I wondered if you guys noticed something UNIQUE about his playing style? BB only plays the guitar when he is not singing. Whenever he sings a verse he pauses his play on "Lucille." He then plays the rest of the phrase on Lucille and then comes with the next singing verse. It's his signature way of playing and it's down home blues style! A female all time great blues artist you guys should react to is...Koko Taylor "I'm A Woman!" AND GUYS PLEASE LISTEN CLOSELY TO THE LYRICS...this is called lyrical genius(whomever the songwriter is)!

The best concert I ever went to in my entire life was B.B. King at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. That was when I learned you should always go to the last show of the night for a blues concert because musicians no time limit. B.B. played for close to three hours that night and it was pure magic. The truly amazing thing about B.B. King was that if you watch him carefully you'll notice that he never plays chords. Only single notes. And still got that incredible, thick, rich sound out of his guitar, a guitar that he used to refer to as "Lucille". He made Lucille absolutely sing! I really enjoyed this video. If you have yet reacted to them yet, I have some blues songs to recommend to you guys: "Voodoo Child" performed by Stevie Ray Vaughan, "Mannish Boy" by Muddy Waters, "Bad to the Bone" by George Thorogood, and "Didn't It Rain" by Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Blessings to you!

B.B. King, my favorite of the three kings of blues: thanks for posting this for us. Wonder what your review or reaction to B.B. King and Albert Collins track "Stormy Monday" will be. IMHO the best track of Stormy Monday is the one B.B. does with Albert.🙂 BTW, mention was made of B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughn(SRV). King said of SRV: "'ve said that playing the blues is like having to be black twice. Stevie Ray Vaughan missed on both counts, but I never noticed." Both King and SRV were such passionate musicians (and remarkably good vocalist too!) the would close their eyes and seem to be channeling the music ... never lost on the fretboard. I would recommend Texas Flood by Vaughn for a reaction ... think you'll see why King spoke so highly of him!

Straight up Blues! This is a Legend in his day. He and Eric were like father and son. Eric and him did this together at the Crossroads Festival Eric put together for several years. It is very good and you will love a more modern version. Also Robert Cray and Stevie Rays brother all play a solo. At the end you will see many artists that were up there. Including Buddy Guy which was where Jimmy Hendrix got most of his influence...

Good to see the young G’s paying respect to the OG’s. BB King is an OG and a legend. A lot of rock n’ roll legends credit BB as their OG. Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters and so many other Blues legends pathed the way. I like Sweet 16 by BB King, and Tin Pan Alley by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix has a lot of good blues covers like Hear My Train Coming

B.B. King was born in N. Mississippi, but he made Memphis his primary home. There’s a B.B. King club on Beale St. in Memphis, and that’s where I used to hear him play. Y’all are right - his tone and playing style are distinctive. He made Lucille sing. Loved B.B. King since I first heard him on vinyl back in the 1970’s. Every artist others have suggested are great; I’ll second John Lee Hooker and Buddy Guy. Robert Cray was terrific back in the day. His Strong Persuader album was amazing, and he was fantastic live.

I got to see the King shortly before he passed away at the Forum theater in Harrisburg PA. He had the biggest, fattest, woodiest guitar sound I ever heard. When the show was over everyone filed out except about fifty people. We stood in the front rows and he sat at the edge of the stage on a chair and just talked with us. It was like having an audience with the blues pope! He was so cool and fatherly. After about 15 minutes his stage hands tried to get him to leave twice but he stayed longer. Finally he left to his palatial tour bus. I think his next gig was Atlantic City New Jersey. I still remember his voice and the kindness with which he spoke to us.

BB is a class act, as a musician and a human being. That man has inspired many guitar players. He doesn't use fast or flashy guitar playing in his songs, just feel and soul. Always loved his vocals too. Y'all gotta check out some Buddy Guy. "What Kind of Woman is This" or "Damn Right I Got the Blues" are a couple of good ones by him.
