Recommendations. For heavy, Rinne (MV), Moratorium (Live), the Non-fiction days (Live or MV), I cant live without you (Live), Dice (MV). For amazing structured chaos, I like Blooming (MV), Puzzle (Live), YOLO (Live or MV) and Moratorium (Live, this actually leads directly into Puzzle Mentioned above). Also Secret My Lips (Live or MV). For amazingly written instrumental - Onset (Live) and a perfectly written song - Daydreaming (Live has an extra piano intro by lead-guitarist Kanami over the MV). Choose Me (Live at Zepp Tokyo 2018) has an extra Jazzy intro over the MV. My favorite version of that song. It’s also a good show case of how much fun and energy they still have at the end of a 2-hr, 26 song concert (2 hrs is their norm). For fun on stage, Don’t you tell me (Live), turn me on (Live), Take Me Higher (Live), Freedom (Live). For fun (they formed an alter ego band for April Fool’s Day!), Secret Maiko Lips (MV) and Gion-Cho (MV). For something a little different, awkward (Live), Matchless Gum (Live). There are so many more... (oh yes just enjoy the live version of this song on their channel. It’s even heavier and better than the MV). The rabbit hole is endless ... Band-Maid (my favorite band ever, and I am 63 and grew up with some kick-ass rock bands) is just the tip of the iceberg (and they have a catalog of about 90 songs, all top-notch and a whole lot of other surprises as others have already pointed out.) Once you get used to Band-Maid there is a shit-ton of great Japanese bands, no matter what your musical tastes (the nation that took raw fish and rice, rocks and sand and created sushi and rock-gardens have done the same thing with music ... these are not your 'garage-band' kids learning their first three bar-chords, these are trained musicians that take 'art' and raise it to new levels.) Then once you get your fill of awesome Japanese bands, the rest of Asia is also killing it ... I'm sorry, but the west is just not even in the competition anymore when it comes to great new (and old) music. I discovered the world of Asian music in Feb 2014 when I clicked on a video by a 'gimmick band' called BABYMETAL (turned out to be one of the hottest international metal bands in the world for the last 6 years) and haven't looked back! Had all but given up on music, now I can't get enough!!

Welcome aboard, Jase. You are embarking on (along with many others) an awesome hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid: BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of rock n’ rollers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Consistency (nearly 100 songs with new album, “Conqueror”), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destine for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off the rails spectacular. Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 50 favorites! "Thrill" is a great place to start: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5XWaJppgpJnorM Their later songs drive even more - Rin’ne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE and Smile... or more punky like Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series! And many are represented with over 20 well produced music videos. kzbin.info Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE concerts such as Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (sample “Domination” kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5PcgnaAo5ulj8k), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids. Here’s three of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues. The first taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZCUpZttmNmag9E, the second taken by JT Dayo in LA: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqasinWhdt6Veas, and third, JOSER8845 in LA: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6S6i6mifKx3idU. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BR & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid members are: (Ages are best est.). Saiki Atsumi “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements, melodies and High Priestess mediator between the Gods (Band Members) and the masters and princesses (Fans). At 26 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Leader) as Miku calls her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away the persona. Her charisma, performance and voice focus the experience. Miku Kobato "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 28 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kurrupo! No, no, no… KURRUPO!! Kanami Tono “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 28 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose "Gorilla" - Drums, 29 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumRilla” is the Party! MISA "Assassin" - Bass, 27 years old. A sullen, barefoot, dark spirit driving her 5-string bottom-end to hell and back, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. The Mysterious One literally kills it… every note.. uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!

Band Maid's members are extremely talented. The musicians are very skilled and the band founder Miku Kobato (the Rythm guitarist and second vocalist) writes all their songs. The main guitarist Kanami Tono composes all the instrumentals along with the other members and she's a skillful pianist too. Band Maid is a Hard Rock / Heavy Metal band. And if you want a more metal female band from Japan I suggest you to react to Lovebites. An all female Power Metal band with extremely talented members too. Band Maid fans love Lovebites too ;)

This is what a REAL rock n roll band sounds like. This how they work. Kanami (lead guitar) writes the music, then sends it to Akane (drums) and MISA (bass) for their fill. Miku (vocals, guitar, Pigeon) writes the lyrics and now Saiki (vocals) is inputing to the lyrics. This is all done via the internet. Then off to the studio where they all work to the final version. Saiki make the call as too when they're done. They do all writing, arrangements and production. Other Japanese band for you: Lovebites, good first song Shadowmaker. Warning strap in!! Everyone BE SAFE, sheltering in California

You ain't seen nothin' yet! There's even better than this out there, and lots of it. Don't get me wrong, this is a great version of a great song, but, even though the mix is very low on the Music Video, I would say it's as goo, if not better than this. I love the jam in the middle section, but it's not their best playing. MISA's bass is a bit undefined, and Kanami's guitar is much better in the little solo after the jam. That being said, it has one of Akane's best drum solos. It's not that she isn't capable of playing solos. She plays great solos! But they're never long enough and usually much shorter that this one. For other recent releases, the very Power Pop, 'Blooming' is a good one. And the more Metal influenced, 'Rin'ne' . . . kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYKclZV7i8yNmaM
