Boomer here - First we had The Beatles, which helped to create The BeeGees. Three brothers who had a unique sound when singing together. The BeeGees became super popular during the Disco Era of the mid 70s. My high school years. I can't count how many nights I danced away to their music. We had such a wide range of music back in the 60s, 70s, & 80s. Each unique. Each unforgettable. Each still resonating with listeners today. That's the power of good music.

You`re right, In 1968, when he was just 22 years old and still without a full beard or lion's mane, Barry was voted "Sexiest Man Alive"! But he married his wife Linda at the age of 24 and is still happily married to her since 54 years, having 5 children and 7 grandchildren!

I’m a boomer and yes, I danced disco. The clubs were fantastic. The music was spun by a DJ. There was a raised dance floor and there was the steam smoke coming down from the ceiling up from the floor. It was so exciting. It was a time when everybody started dancing together again for the longest time people dance separately, but now this genre brought people back together doing disco dancing, and it was so much fun to learn

I am a black female, and I listen to this song every day. It was released 1978. I was married 1977. If it had been released in 1977, it would have been one of the songs in my wedding. A little background. Barry Gibb (middle) September 1, 1946. He and his wife Linda have been married for 53 years. They have 4 sons and one daughter who is the youngest. Also, 7 grandchildren. Barry's chest is shiny with blotches because when he was about 18 months, he pulled a pot of hot tea from off of a table. His mom said he didn't speak for a long time (close to 2 years.) He was close to dying because there was no skin grafting back then and gangrene was beginning to set in. Barry said he has no memory of it happening, just the scars to prove. Robin (on our left - long hair) and Maurice (on our right - short hair) were fraternal twins. Maurice Gibb (December 22, 1949 - January 12, 2003) heart attack, while getting surgery for twisted intestines. Survived by wife and 2 adult children. Robin Gibb (December 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) doctors found out he had the same intestine problems as Maurice. When they went in to fix it, they found cancer. He is survived by wife and 4 adult children. Andy Gibb (March 5, 1958 - March 10, 1988) He was too young to sing with his brothers. He had his own successful career. He and Barry could have been identical twins. He had a bad heart. Andy is survived by one daughter. You know the song 'Emotion' sung by Destiny's Child? Well --- the brothers wrote the song (1977) for the singer Samantha Sang. Destiny's Child has too much drama in it. But Barry said he liked it. Emotion kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJDahY2gpJ6UsM0si=Y863cKzsfSsxKiTP They wrote their own songs and wrote and produced songs for a lot of other artists. Barry didn't always sing in falsetto. They were asked if someone could sing falsetto on a song. Barry volunteered, and the rest is history. Robin sings falsetto too. On a side note, the first born is their sister, Lesley (Gibb) Evans. She can sing, but she did not want to be in the limelight. She lives a quiet life. She and Barry are the last two survivors of the family. (Their parents are deceased also.) Maurice passed away on Lesley's 58th birthday. They were so popular that some radio stations had a 'Bee Gees free' weekend. NO requests for their songs. There's so much to write about them. In your spare time, I think you'll like what they have contributed to the music industry. I recommend the following songs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2fMc3SrrKeCeqMsi=7Y71_3s9z9GPFJ-x Too Much Heaven Staying Alive kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5DMq6l3l814rrssi=7p2Pbvfime9eHGc-&t=1 Spirits Having Flown kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYild6Oletd3ea8si=3mpRsV0a-kfCMDWX Shadow Dancing (Andy Gibb) kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZvCqnqPisSdi7csi=fgwTh0Si29Axvb7S Bodyguard kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKmYiap_gKimadEsi=ZR3i-vkS0bTbUsMd You Should Be Dancing (Andy is with them in this video: from the movie Saturday Night Fever) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6bSY2x6hcuNaKcsi=XevU5_t8wV8gQCBS&t=1 You Win Again kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYu8aqKPiLidfKssi=tNkXzwYEE2uOUi1I Secret Love kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4fWloKJe7l6d9ksi=5DFjJ0rTH1_6GvEw For Whom the Bells Toll kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIXSqKyPe718i7ssi=kqPuP-VmVOO8dkca

Barry Gibb, the oldest brother. His twin brothers Robin & Maurice. No better group on earth. Started singing when Barry was 8 years old, the twins were five! Barry got a guitar when he was nine and stated that he was going to be a pop star. The twins said can we be that too… The rest is history. They started performing shortly thereafter. None of them could read or write music and they are all self-taught how to play instruments. Wrote their own lyrics and performed all their own songs. Their album “Saturday Night Fever” is still the best selling movie soundtrack of all time! Fifty years of incredible music and Barry is still creating hits. His brothers are no longer with us, but Barry and his sons and also his brother’s children still create music together. If you want to learn more about The Bee Gees, check out the HBO special “How Do You Mend a Broken Heart” for their story. It is a great documentary that Barry supervised and contributed to. Whether you feel happy or sad or anything in between, there’s a great Bee Gees song that will make you smile. Hope you react to more of their music. You won’t regret it.

Boomers and GenX. To describe the 70s to you, it's very difficult, it was probably the most magical energy in the history of our planet. You just can't give it words! It was a time of discovery and exploration like no other. Evel Knievel, Star Wars, Greece, Charlie's Angels TV show, flights and holidays to exotic countries became affordable for ordinary people, all the tech we have today was mostly available, in a simplified version, except the internet, people hung out together, the neighbors were like an extention of your family, people started exploring foreign food, the clothing was like no other era, and I am only just scratching the surface. In regards to the music, no other era even closely compares. The music was magical, full of soul, life, heart, spirit, harmonies, creativity, amazing melodies, and meaningfu depth to contemplate. But I can tell you this, it was amazing every single genre of music that is popular today, was a major influence to modern music, or actually started in the 1970s; rap, punk rock, and heavy metal. The first ever rap hit was by Blondie, with the song Rapture. Rap likely had it's roots in jive talking, and "toasting" from reggae. And incidentally the first successful rappers were white. Did you know that George Michael was a rapper first? Long before any major artists from The hip Hop scene became famous. The only thing I can tell you, pick one or two songs from each genre of the 70's, rock, soul, funk, disco, love songs, punk, pop etc, put on your headphones, lay back on the couch, close your eyes, and the music will transport you to the magical enery of that time. FEEL IT!

The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. All 4 brothers are just natural musical talents. All of them dropped out of high school in their early teens and none of them could read or write music. All their compositions were created completely organically. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1967. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin' (and was also actually the first album on which their logo was introduced). From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ_MiYaebNuKiKs Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXnCm2xmm6h8oZY, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJerhoZrgstjZrM. From their Still Waters album, Smoke and MIrrors: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4Wcp4V-iLyBmM0. From the 1960's I've gotta get a message to you kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXKXdHykedOHoZo. And from the 1990's the simple song Blue Island live in an accoustic version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2eVeJ93etWZqLs. Andy was kind of Barry's mini me, about half a foot shorter and 12 years younger but they were the only lefties of the family. However, his voice was nowhere near as broad in range or as strong as Barry's. As producer Alby Galuten said in the book "Tales of the brothers Gibb "Andy's falsetto was nowhere near Barry's." Andy had a lower, huskier, sound to his voice and his range was not as big as Barry's. I personally always thought his voice was much better suited to songs of his first album, Flowing Rivers. Andy died of myocarditis - which is an inflammation of the heart - on March 10, 1988, 5 days after his 30th birthday. His heart had been weakened by his drug addiction over the years which, by the way, was also the main reason for his split from Victoria Principal. He also had a congenital heart problem that was later also discovered in Barry and Barry's second son Ashley. Try listening to the song Dreamin' on kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3zHc4mBmLiGidk which is kind of a duet with Barry. And here are the 4 brothers live on stage in 1979 doing You Should Be Dancing kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWewg2B7lLatsJI And finally a few photos of Barry and Andy: i.postimg.cc/jS6n3Jkv/Barry-Andy.jpg and i.postimg.cc/TwnPh8M0/82c126fc42a35d3b737867af41338199.jpg and the 4 brothers with their mother i.postimg.cc/FRNMbwkD/b9b2561eadffee11347573c97063c2f8-zpsd89478eb.jpg

The 70's and 80's were awesome. No cameras anywhere. No cell phones. Rarely did you ever hear of a shooting. The trucks in my high school parking lot had gun racks in the back window with their hunting rifle in it. Loved the long feathered hair. Much better music. More peaceful times. We'd be outside playing all day and we could put up a tent in our yard and sleep in it. Times i wish young people today could experience. Please react to Bee Gees, Too Much Heaven. This came out in the 70’s. I graduated high school in 1972 and college in 1975 so I grew up with The Bee Gees. I had a mad crush on Barry Gibb (the lead singer) even though he was married at this time, and is still married to the same lady today (over 50 years later) I enjoyed the 70’s! Some of my best moments happened in the 70’s and that included the Bee Gee’s music. We had never heard of auto-tune! You needed to be talented to make great music and The Bee Gees were very talented singers, songwriters, and producers. I hated all that backlash against disco. That was so stupid! But The Bee Gees showed them by starting writing for other artists. Please do other songs recorded by other artists that The Bee Gees wrote. Some include: If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman) -- went to #1 Woman in Love ( Barbra Streisand)- went to #1!. In fact, The Bee Gees wrote every song on her Guilty CD, and Barry did 2 duets with her. And he did most of the background vocals on a lot of the songs. They won a Grammy for best song by a group or duo for Guilty. Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Partons) - went to #1. In fact, The Bee Gees wrote all the songs on Kenny's "Eyes that See in the Dark" CD with Barry doing a lot of background vocals. Heartbreaker (Deion Warwick). In fact, The Bee Gees wrote every song on this CD too. This was her best selling CD! The Bee Gees also did the Background vocals. Chain Reaction (Diana Ross) - went to #1 in several European countries! And yes, The Bee Gees wrote all the songs on this CD too. Barry also did the background vocals. Immortality (Celine Dion) The Bee Gees (went to number 1 in several countries),also sung background. The live 1997 from Vegas is excellent! More Than a Woman (Tavares) Love Me (Yvonne Elliman) Come on Over (Olivia Newton John) Emotions (Samantha Sang, with a lot of background vocals with Barry). Destiny's Child also recorded it. Grease--from the movie (Frankie Valli), went #1 Heart Beating in Time (Leo Sayer) Let me wake up in your arms (Lulu), who use to be married to Maurice Gibb A lot of Andy Gibb songs (Shadow Dancing, Everlasting Love, Love is Thicker than Water, Our Love, Don't Throw It Away; Desire;). Andy's 3 released solo songs all went to #1!

Reaction suggestion Fanny Be Tender With my Love--Bee Gees I've seen footage when their limos pull in for a concert and the girls are climbing all over the cars. And many times the girls would try to get on stage during performance.

Actually the Bee Gees came out in 1958!!!! They were popular in the 60’s and regained their popularity in the late 70’s because of Saturday Night Fever!! They hated being called the kings of disco!!

Actually BeeGees spanned from the late 60s through 2001 then after the death of Barry's Two brothers Maurice and Robyn Barry continued singing and still does to this day. So it spanned through my generation. I'm Gen x and even into the early millennials

That floored me when you said "a time when people were still getting married and having babies." Wow, that's the saddest thing ive ever heard. And meanwhile the ones most responsible for the present disasters, are the ones convincing us that they'll save us (from the bad people), if we just keep voting for them.

Barry the main singer is the only surving member and has been married to his wife for over 40 years. The other members Robin and Maurice have passed away. They also had a brother Andy who passed away at 30 years old from drug abuse.

so it would be fun for you to react to their little brother ,Andy Gibb , and one of his songs because he did his own music-- he was quite a bit younger than his brothers... and women absolutely threw themselves at him!

The Bee Gee's were SO sexy, with voices like silk! Little boy, you missed the greatest era EVER!! 50's, 60's and 70's had music that was truly a gift from the angels. Thank GOD it was an era of music that we could record so your generation can see what music is SUPPOSED to sound like!! Although, I do have to give a shout out to the music of the 40's...the time of Big Band music!! It had some seriously catchy music! AWESOME dancing music!! When the music starts out you're kinda like "ok, this is weird music", and I swear the NEXT thing you realize, you're foot is tapping to the music and you didn't even realize you were doing it! LOL The first one you need to watch is "Jumpin Jive - Cab Calloway and the Nicholas Brothers"! Those two guys will blow your mind!! Then try "Pennsylvania 6-5000", or "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy". Open your mind and today's music will seem lame and cheap.
