The Paranoid LP changed the entire landscape for the boys. The greatest heavy metal album ever produced. It's funny now at 71 years old, looking back on those days and all the shows I attended as the band made their way through Los Angeles on the rock concert tours. I even had the privilege of seeing Sabbath at the Whiskey A GoGO in Hollywood though I've never seen a bootleg of that show. Usually for most shows back in the late 60's and early 70's there were 3 bands that would perform. First time I saw Sabbath they were second on the bill to Grand Funk. When I saw Sabbath in 1971 at the Forum the second bill was YES and the third billed band was Jay Geils. Heavy metal was still a bit counter culture back in the late 60's. Nobody thought that Black Sabbath's popularity and subsequently Qzzie would propel the band as far as it has, Ah the things you remember.

Hello, I really love seeing people enjoying Black Sabbath. If you liked this one, you'll really like Hand of Doom. It's about a war veteran who can't get it out of it mind and starts shooting up and all that entails. It's best if played with Rat Salad, it's a continuation and a drum solo.

Some of the most poignant lyrics ever. Whenever I hear this part of the song I get almost insanely angry thinking of how true and historically accurate it is. "Politicians hide themselves away They only started the war Why should they go out to fight? They leave that role to the poor"

Unfortunately that video has nothing to do with the song. This isn't a peace and love or emo song. It's about the bad guys going to hell. It's ugly and gritty and pretty fun. That video is nothing but a distraction. Yes they do this well live. Find one from close to the time it was released.

First time I smoked up and rocked this was 1980 it's one of the first songs most aspiring metal guitar players learn because it's simple bar chords but at the same time is a great lesson in timing and phrasing and of course it sounds bad ass.
