This is the song that got him a record contract. This song was on a radio station "local bands" record, it went from local NYC airplay to national airplay before he had a full band or a record contract. He was 19 when he recorded it for the radio station record.

This was his first song he took directly to a local radio station where they would add local bands songs, Jon did this will studio musicians he hadn’t even formed the band yet, it got picked up at a local New Jersey station where he lived and it became a hit in the top 40, then he got his original line up that became Bon Jovi, it was two years later when there 3 album hit called Slippery When Wet and they became the planets biggest rockstars! This song tells the story of a young girl who gets so little attention from her parents that she runs away from home and lives on the streets, doing what she can to survive. Jon Bon Jovi would often take a Greyhound bus from New Jersey into Manhattan, where he saw many young people trying to get away in desperation. These are the people who inspired the song.

Good, debut song. Horrible video, though. The band hated it. Jon once said: "that video had nothing to do with us. It made us look like assholes". From another early album, "7800 Degrees Fahrenheit", try "The Hardest Part is the Night" or "Only Lonely" (another hilarious video, but an excellent song)
