This song was nothing more than a "Hi! We are.." and one of the observations you made was that you can't understand everything that they're saying. That simply boils down to speed and the words blending together. Some of it works better than other parts. When this song came out, people hadn't heard anything close to "speedy raps" quite yet. Cadence wasn't anyone's aim. When Bizzy says "Gotta give it on up to the glock glock-- Pop pop, you drop when the buck shots BLOWWWW" it wasn't just him throwing words in there. E.99 and St. Clair is known as a place where people carry doubled glocks. Every rhyme does make sense, even if you don't know all of the slang. These guys created some of the street slang. That's just one of the many things that make Bone Thug & Harmony great. They brought a fresh new style to the mainstream! Easy E was who put them on and shortly after... Easy was gone. I won't say they had no help, but Bone did 90% of everything when it came to putting their albums together. "Mo Thug" was the first sort of "No Limit" that we ever saw too! These guys were pioneers in many ways... And... a not so fun fact, Bizzy Bone was once a missing child. He was found and rescued by Matt Walsh's America's Most Wanted tv show. And millions of people are grateful for that! Fun Fact, though... the voice in the beginning... "we aren't against rap..." That was Cleveland mayor Michael White, the at the time, current mayor.
@michaellastname7595 ай бұрын
When they say The "Glock Glock" or the "Double glock" its a reference to the street that they lived on (East 1999) because they imagined the 99 in it as looking like two glocks.. . So "gotta give it on up the glock glock' is Bizzy giving up props to the 99 where he's from and yeah also with a double meaning that people on that street will rob you with real glocks too.
@hellequinnz9 ай бұрын
This was the anthem for street life in Cleveland Ohio and changed the way people perceived Midwest life in comparison to West or East coast life which were more prominently featured on tv and video. As for the lyrics, this is actually one of their easier songs to understand, a mix of upbeat rap and r&b flow known as the flip-flop-flow a trademarked style that many still try to emulate. I suggest watching a lyric video afterwards and training your ears to listen more articulately and enjoy the largest selling rap group to this day with more than 4,000 songs out and still releasing albums and solos annually.

The same complaint that you have about not understanding the words of BONE THUGS N HARMONY in this song, is the same complaint that I have when I hear these MAINSTREAM MILLENNIAL RAPPERS nowadays doing their MUMBLE RAP. Yes we had some TONGUE-TWISTING rappers back in the early 90s that were difficult to understand back then; but overall, the MAINSTREAM RAPPERS that came out in the 80s and 90s had WAY BETTER LYRICS than the MAINSTREAM RAPPERS that came out AFTER the year 2000 and beyond. Because even when you CAN make out what these MAINSTREAM MILLENNIAL RAPPERS are rapping about nowadays, most them STILL are not saying much of ANYTHING of society value nor SUBSTANCE. Most of these MAINSTREAM MILLENNIAL RAPPERS sound IGNORANT and ILLITERATE on the MIC. For the MOST PART, the MAINSTREAM RAPPERS that came out in the 80s and 90s were WAY MORE LYRICAL, were WAY MORE ORIGINAL, and had WAY MORE SUBSTANCE in their LYRICS than most of these MAINSTREAM MILLENNIAL RAPPERS of TODAY. The ONLY MAINSTREAM MILLENNIAL RAPPERS that I hear nowadays that are LYRICAL with SUBSTANCE are J COLE and KENDRICK LAMAR. Most of the OTHER MAINSTREAM MILLENNIAL RAPPERS that I hear nowadays have TRASH GARBAGE LYRICS with NO SUBSTANCE. Because RHYME FOR RHYME, most of TODAY'S RAPPERS can not hang with most of the 80s and 90s RAPPERS . I know this for a FACT, because I grew up on 80s and 90s HIP HOP. And I witnessed the LYRICAL DECLINE after the NEW MILLENNIUM. Especially in the 2010s.

It’s understandable why it would be difficult from your generation to understand quick paced lyrics and different rap styles and cadences since rappers rap more slow now and all rappers sound alike. People are used to Em’s style and more people of your generation know Busta than bone thugs. Hell even people your age even know Wu-tang, Bone Thugs are underrated. The 90’s and early 2000’s were by far the best time for rap

😆 music has advanced? It’s taken a deep dive…. It was just about introducing Bone to the world. They had a completely different style that was never heard before.

Maybe you should look up the lyrics while you are hearing the song, it would make more sense!

Gotta give it on up to the Glock-Glock Pop-pop, better drop when them buckshot blow The bone in me never no ho, so no creepin' up outta the Ziplock So sin, sip gin And Lil' Mo Hart run up, nut up and flipped in Than slipped in the clip in, mistakin' the bloody victims Ever to test nuts, to the chest and put 'em to rest And, but I won't test bucks, put a hole up into me vest And gotta get through my soul But they won't budge, mud, drug me victim The blood in me runnin' my mental The thug in me stuck in me, keepin' it simple The Thug in me runnin' with thugs so To the temple, buck when you duck To the thuggish ruggish T's St. Claire P's to appeal to the G's And a buck to all my enemies

The rap in their own hood dialect, which is why it's difficult to understand. It's one of those things where even if you don't understand the words (which most people don't) you can understand the context of the song.

Music has advanced?, the stuff being made to day is just them rapping adlibs and singing poorly. Just about every Rap group that came out in the 90's have legend status, the majority of new rappers have already fell off and no one will ever remember their names or the "songs" they wrote. KRS-1 is still rapping and would body any of your mainstream artists!
