Raised by a “didn’t have to be” myself. We lost him in 2011 after fighting heart disease for 16 years. I always tell people that my daddy’s in heaven and my dad is in norther Texas. I love my dad, I do. But, it wasn’t his lap I would crawl into when I was hurt or sick. My daddy could always be counted upon. Love and miss you, daddy. Sending love, light snd heart mending hugs. Great reaction. No matter what situations you’re facing, you can always count on country music to help you through. Again, km so sorry for your loss. I know the pain you’re feeling.

I lost my Dad in 2021. He was everything to me and I miss him every day! I wish I could say it gets easier . Grief catches you at odd times like a punch to the gut. My Dad loved music especially the old country singers and he would change the words around sometimes. There is no time limit on grieving!

He met my mom when I was 4 and they married when I was 6. I still cry over this song. My dad has been gone for 12 years and my mom 2 years. The both died a few days before their wedding anniversary.

I don't know how many country songs you've listened too so far. But I hope you'll give the genre a fair chance. Country singers are story tellers. If you want more suggestions, just let us know!

I lost my dad when I was 16. Losing someone that close to you at such a young age never really gets easier but you eventually learn to deal with it better. I’m 47 now and I still miss him every day. All the milestones in my life that would have made him proud, mad, the array of emotions that I wish he could have been a part of. On the other hand, I just remember that he’s in a much better place. I wouldn’t bring him back into this world the way it is now for anything. Awesome reaction bro

Brother, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. That's rough. It's never easy losing a parent, but to lose one when you're so young is a tragedy. All I can say is, I'm VERY confident he is now in a much, much better place patiently waiting to see you again. I lost both my parents about 10 years ago, just two weeks apart, They lived to a ripe old age, but it's still never easy, at all. Much love and I will pray for your comfort and peace.

I've always loved this song. My grandfather, adoptive dad, and stepdad have more than made up for the lack of biological father I never met... They were some of the greatest gifts of my life and I will be forever grateful for them. I was incredibly lucky and I can't wait to celebrate with the one who is still alive tomorrow. Family is about love and choice, not blood.

Hearing what you were saying about life and how you got to keep going. Wise for a young man, you are correct. Losing a parent ain't easy no matter how old you are. I just ran across this. You were blessed to have him and were raised right, Rickk. I also lost my dad many years ago, when I was 29. He was only 58. All we can do is carry on. You're a good man with a great heart. This song tears me up bad because very long ago, I met a 'once in a lifetime' girl who had 2 very young boys. I was that 'dad' to them for a couple of years and they loved me as much as I loved them, and the fact that we weren't 'blood' father/sons didn't matter. She and I broke up, followed by 1000 miles distance between us for over 10 years. Long story short, we rekindled our love/relationship 10 years later (she called me), when the boys were 14 and 15 years old, but that great distance caused us to split again. I never was able to handle the loss of the boys in my life, even now. I lost everything (and I do mean 'everything') over the years after that, simply because they were the only thing that were on my mind and only thing that had mattered. I'm old now, and know I don't have many years left. I'm trying to work up the courage to contact the boys and am not sure if that would even be wise or helpful to them, as they are now in their 40's. But that bond of love is forever and I'm pretty sure they 'still' share that with me.

Lost my dad and best friend at 16, 22 years ago, the truest words i ever got is that your pain is in an empty room controlled by a button, and there is a large ball bouncing, constantly hitting that button, making you feel pain. As time goes on, that bouncing ball gets smaller, you find peace, but occasionally that ball strikes that button and the pain is just as strong (normally around holidays or special events), then 22 years pass and the ball is tiny now, ive lived on this earth longer without him than with him, through time even the hardest time (holidays, birthday, day he died) goes by and the button is no longer struck, until videos like this, seeing your pain brings me back. All i can say is it will get easier brother and with 2 boys of my own, its my turn to be that man, pass down to my boys what he taught me, learn and pass down what he couldnt.

I feel you, my dad passed away when I was 24 not suddenly, but because of a rare type of leukemia, that eventually caused a heart attack, watching the man that you looked up to for so many years, the strength in your life, the one who gave you everything to make sure you had what he didn’t have become frail and weak and pass away is difficult also you must be supporting the family during this tough time and keeping everybody tight whilst not breaking down so far that it’s too difficult to pull yourself back up… every day trying to do right by them and live your life the way they taught you becomes the most important thing, it’s been 19 years for me though the pain fades nothing I can tell you will make your process easier you see what I don’t see, see it within you to make yourself the best reflection of that person moving forward to do them proud!…. I lost my mom, June 11, 2021 and that still hits hard Bless you and bless your heart with the strength to pull through and be the best reflection you can be see them in yourself every morning when you wake up and remember everything when you go to sleep they are the parts of you and you are who you are because of them, be well… 😭🙏
