I always want him to do Dear Black Son when I go to see him in concert. Such a strong foundational pillar in conscious hiphop IMO. But, his big break into even the small devoted groups and a lot of fans was through Atmosphere. As long as they've been around I still wouldn't necessarily consider them mainstream. I love and find inspiration from the artist/creator's, who have to go through whatever personal internal struggles end up choosing to honor their courage and love of self. Giving them whatever strength they required to let them refuse to change who they are trying to be, what they're trying to represent, and make their art in a way that is not going to be stifled or altered by a "mainstream."
