This song is just so emotional. The first time I heard it the hair literally stood up on the back of my neck and it still does, every time I hear it. It is an incredible song. I know what you mean about being Army. I have never felt like this about any band before. They just get to you in such a good way and I can't imagine my life without them in it. It says to use headphones because it actually had the audio for both performances. In your left ear was the 2015 performance audio (original 2013 lyrics), your right ear was the late 2017 performance audio (RM rewrote some of his lyrics). They did a performance of this in June 2022 because it was finally fully released on their PROOF album: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6StkHxnoa2jptU Joon once again changed some of his lyrics in 2022😊

I love this song. I’m 62 and never really listened to rap until I heard BTS. I am still not sure of other rappers but RM, SUGA and JHOPE are amazing. My preference is for the vocal line. Hope you feel better soon

I'm Hobi biased with 6 bias wreckers 😉 I watched kdramas whilst being furloughed during lockdown. I watched Hwarang and was drawn to the cute youngest guy so looked him up. He was Kim Taehyung aka V of BTS. Like you, I knew of BTS but didn't think to listen to their music because I didn't think I'd understand it. Well, that changed thanks to V being in that drama. This song is one of my absolute favorite BTS songs, it brings tears to my eyes every time. i love the choreography for this- the old version with them facing in, singing towards the other members then opening themselves up to the audience as a "we are here, look at us" move. And then in the 5-years later they do the opposite and start facing outwards then turn back towards the members as kind of a "we can't forget each other/we got this far together"... just so good.

Like you, I’ve never invested time into listening to or watching a particular artist or group, but BTS never gets old for me. I listen to their songs over and over again because their catalog is so diverse and holds my interest. I’ve listened to and watched Born Singer by itself and with a variety of reactors. Never gets old. So what is it? Their antics? Their professionalism? Their talent? All of the above and more.

We have always loved this song, but it was never recorded for an album until Proof came out. It was the first song on the album so you can see how important it was to them. This is a cover/remix of J Cole's Born Sinner.

In the 2013 version they start out facing each other and end up facing ARMY. In the 2018 version, it's the opposite. It's allmost as if they were making a promise to ARMY in the first, and a promise to each other in the second (that's the year they were struggling and thought of disbanding). The newest, 2022 Proof Live version has them seated facing forwards, and this time it feels like a promise to themselves. All three versions make me teary eyed💜.

J.Cole has a song called “Born Sinner” which BTS used as inspiration and sampling. Of course the lyrics are different to fit their own struggles and experiences. It was put out as a free song on SoundCloud and was only recently put out in the Proof Album as the first track (meaning they had finally gotten permission from J.Cole and his team). They wrote this in 2013 near debut. It’s such a personal song. Haters judged their every move as they always criticized them. They really let out all of their emotions. It leaves the feeling of “How are we any different from being Idols or rappers? Idols or singers? Idols or Dancers? What is the difference that gives you permission to judge us? Can’t you see that I’m a born singer? This is what I want to do, and the cheers give me life so I hope they last forever. I’m happy so I’m good” This song is THAT song from BTS. It’s a personal song for BTS and Army. Such a beautiful song, and they did perform it recently! In June for their Proof mini concert, they performed it along with Yet to Come and For Youth

If you get to see BTS live I’ll be there with you. I have J Cole’s, ‘Born Sinner’, on my Spotify list. It wouldn’t be there without this version by BTS so he’s no doubt got new followers because of them. I think Hobi met him at Lollapalooza. He performed the same night as TXT. I love Born Singer, it’s so emotional. I think their parents were in the audience the first time they sang it on stage. When Yoongi lifts his lip you know he’s going to go in hard. The original artist, J. Cole said he loved this version. The guys said that J Cole was a major influence on them. They wanted to show respect to him, but share their story with us. I believe they accomplished both. And at the end, no matter if it's the earlier performance or the more recent, to hear the audience sing for them, talk about tears streaming...that is always me. You know there are a couple of other songs that BTS re-did. One is called "Perfect Man," from a k pop group called Shinwa, they are from 1st Gen. Another is called "Bad Boy" by a Solo artist by the name of Rain. He too is 1st Gen. But the one song that I think you may like the most is called "Come Back Home." This group would be Seo Taiji and the Boys. The very first k pop group. So all three artists I just mentioned, let's just say that without these artists we wouldn't have what k pop is today. We wouldn't have any of the groups. A lot of the 3rd and 4th Gen groups know that they wouldn't be here if these first artists hadn't paved the way. Hell BTS had the privilege of performing with Seo Taiji at his 25th-anniversary concert. As for you being able to see them in concert. It may not be tomorrow. When my daughter and I got lucky enuf to see them at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas back in April, none of us knew that they (the concerts) were going to be their last for a while. And even though it seems really far off right now. They have said that they will be having a comeback with all the members in 2025. So be prepared, save your money, and I'm sure depending on when they all go in will depend on when they come out, we will here something about a tour in 2025/2026, I don't have a doubt. So sorry you haven't been feeling well. I had covid 2 weeks ago and still dealing with that pesky cough myself. No fun. Your elephant analgoy made sense to me, and I also call the BTS effect "magic" because it is just so hard to explain to outsiders and yet every ARMY gets it. We'll be proud of them forever! There is a performance of this song now, and RM changed a line in the recent performance to fit his message now. If you haven't watched PROOF Live, you should. It has Born Singer, Yet To Come (with Anderson Paak), a short talk about where they are at now, and then For Youth. They performed it live with a band, and videotaped it for their FESTA 9 year anniversary, and released on their anniversary date June 13, 2022. it was recorded before their Las Vegas Concert in April.
