Don't feel bad about crying for Spring Day. I cry every time I hear it. But the end of the song just gives so much hope, there's a reason why this song was still on the korean charts years after it first came out. Can't give you an actual hug, but please accept a virtual thoughtful hug :) I hope you also react to Save Me. The MV for Save me is a One Shot, so that's super cool and they also did a video for behind the scenes of filming it and that is really interesting to watch too.

Yes, the link to the tragedy also has to do with the timing of its release. It has tremendous meaning to the people of Korea and that’s why it has not left the charts in Korea since it was released. It’s both a song about longing and sadness and missing a loved one, and a protest of the government corruption that created and tried to cover up the ferry tragedy, and it was so courageous of them to do that at a time they were still struggling and powerless as a group. They earned themselves a spot on a government blacklist but luckily that president was removed from office, partly spurred by protest of this tragedy.

Luke, the reasons for the deep emotions underlying SPRING DAY will not become apparent until you watch the explanation video, of which there are several, but the one by the Italian ARMY is especially well done. Just be prepared to be horrified by one of the worst crimes of this century. BTS couldn’t express this in the lyrics or video for the song because they’re not supposed to be political, but it’s clear that it’s a real interpretation of this event. For example, the time on the clock in the laundromat when JUNGKOOK runs through is the exact time this event occurred. But it’s truly a beautiful song, written by RM, to help assuage the pain. Don’t worry, we’ll be right there with you when you’re watching the MV & explanation! And yes, wasn’t this a wonderful little mini-concert?! I’ve watched BTS’s TINY DESK CONCERT many many times and enjoy it every single time. The voices, the outfits, the live band, the fact that they couldn’t sit still and had to get up and bop around, the joy they get when performing these songs that they’ve sung thousands of times…it’s just great! Next you should watch the 2021 FESTA BTS ROOM LIVE. It gives you one-minute-long clips of 7 or 8 songs, one from each of their previous albums. Gives you a taste of things you’ll want to follow up on! A super video!

Sadly, this event mirrors a lot of tragedies around the world. Not to take away from it in any way but to express that those of us that have experienced similar tragedies in our countries and understand the inability of people to speak up against tyrant, the MV is a hopeful and comforting message they are sending to all of us.

Not supposed to be political? Are you forgetting “Am I wrong?” and the performance on television? Plus their many other songs about society including their debut song. I wouldn’t put it past them if in their new album they talk about the current political situation in S. Korea, with RM’s word play. The MV is a tribute to the tragedy but the song itself is about personal experiences from RM & Suga. It’s such a beautiful, touching and deeply personal song to me. I’m am also glad the MV brings to light what happened in the Sewol ferry tragedy so it and the lives lost are never forgotten.

The MV for Save Me was done in one take. On the first season of Bon Voyage, our boys were on a beach and just fooling around and they start doing the choreography for Save Me and it is being filmed from a drone overhead. And they are PERFECT! They make me cry every time too.

If you encounter Mochi Jimin, the usual reaction is to grab the nearest person and demand how someone as adorable as Jimin can exist. If you encounter Sexy Jimin, then it is normal to pause while the brain tries to reconfigure everything they once thought about the world. This may last a few minutes or even hours, and it may result in becoming “frook shoken.” "Frook shoken" is a state of paralysis that occurs in the left brain of a heterosexual male upon his first visual encounter with BTS' Park Jimin. It is caused by a combination of shock, awe, and general confusion, and can last up to 9 hours. When I was first learning about BTS from my daughter, Spring Day would come on in the car and without knowing anything, it would bring me to tears. I literally didn’t know the lyrics or anything, but you can *feel* when they sing. As for the song- the story is more about the video, not necessarily when the song was written. We don’t know and based on what RM has said, it was written about missing a friend or someone but also about the story. It can mean what you want but the video is definitely about the event you will learn about. Have to add that this is just one of the examples of the amazing lyricism of RM. He’s a literally genius with lyrics and he does write something like more than 80% of their Korean lyrics. So many songs to learn about. For me, Zero O’Clock is another totally genius one. And yeah getting into BTS like this, it’s a sign of an open heart and they really are a just a conduit of joy and positive energy, even when it’s about difficult topics. They are really special, all 7, just destined to be who they are.

BTS sang Spring Day to ARMY very often during the intense times of the pandemic. It's so amazing how any of their songs can have meanings that fit so many different lives and situations. Even when their world tour got canceled and they were upset, they got right back to helping people who were suffering, they way they do best. Dynamite was made to bring people joy. They released "BE" their most recent album to give comfort. The best way to describe that album is like their personal diary in music form, and its single Life Goes On is really something special 💜Now restrictions are starting to be lifted, so they released the song Permission to Dance and are tentatively trying to do live concerts again for the first time in years. The future's looking brighter now, and I'm very excited for you to experience all those songs! 💜

I am SO GLAD you did the Tiny Desk concert!!! I was so excited to see this on my subscriptions, and don't feel bad for crying or being so moved by them. Especially Spring Day, this version of that song is one of my favorites and it is so moving with the added Pandemic message they added since this came out in 2020. But you are absolutely right, this little 3-song concert really showcases all of their voices and talents and has some of my absolute favorite harmonizing parts and just... insights to their personalities. My personal stand outs are always JHope and Jungkook harmonizing during Save Me, Jimin doing back-up echoes to Suga's rap verse in Spring Day, and the way Jin KILLED his chorus parts in Dynamite. I gush about this little concert all the time, it's such a spectacular showcase of them stripped down a little bit and focusing on vocals. Imagine they usually do all this while dancing! Suga mentions Save Me was a different composition with the live band (the producer in him couldn't help it) so if you do Spring Day or Save Me MVs later you'll see they are a little bit different. But just as wonderful in their own ways. Thank you so much for such a wonderful reaction, I'm sorry no one warned you it gets emotional 😂 but I know it was worth it!!! Keep up the amazing work :)
