I grew up with this great band from the 70's-80's. They were a rock & roll band with horns & blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, & pop music. They had a lot of great songs such as "Make Me Smile", "25 or 6 to 4", "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?", "Beginnings", "Questions 67 & 68", "I'm A Man", "Where Do We Go From Here?", "Free", "Lowdown", "Saturday In The Park", "Make Me Smile", "Colour My World", "Hard To Say I'm Sorry", "You're The Inspiration", "Will You Still Love Me?", "Look Away", "Feelin' Stronger Every Day", "If You Leave Me Now", "Old Days" etc.

It is Peter Cetera on lead vocals. He’s one of the main reasons I got into playing bass. His Tenor is one of a kind. You guarantee will like more than a few of his other tunes he sings lead on with Chicago and when he went solo. “You’re The Inspiration” is probably my fave One of the greatest artists of all time.

I get goosebumps listening to this. It sounds as fresh as it did in 1976. Another great band to react to is STEELY DAN, if you haven't done so already. "BLACK COW", "FM", and "DO IT AGAIN" are good ones to start out with. They sound is a jazz-rock - funk fusion style.
@thomast8539
@thomast8539 Жыл бұрын
I read Steely Dan, but my mind said Doobie Brothers. I started going through the songs you posted and I said, the Doobies didn't sing FM or Do It Again. Then I realized my mistake and heard myself saying Steely Dan as I reread your whole post. Of course this all happened in under 5 seconds. So weird how your mind can play these tricks on you. Oh, and yes, Steely Dan was as awesome as any other bands of the 70s like Fleetwood Mac, Seals & Crofts, Wings, America, Boston, Journey, Bob Seger and so many others and so on and so on.

I got to see them with EWF about 10 years ago in Kansas City. They were doing a good drive and if you brought 3 cans you would get a card that had ewf doing a Chicago tune and Chicago doing a EWF tune and one they collaborated on. Being from a large family, I brought 3 times as much just cause, it was a helluva concert too. Philip Bailey of EWF singing Chicago's Wishing You Were Here. I stood up and screamed, and damn ner passed out 🥰🤭😏. Memories

Peter Cetera is the one singing here. He also played bass and as you see Guitar as well. Terry Kath (Lead Guitarist) sung on some songs like "Make Me Smile" (Please do this one next) Robert Lamm (Keyboardist) also sung "Beginnings" (Another I'd like y'all to do) And Another Peter Cetera song "Call On Me" Terry Kath passed away in 78. Peter took Chicago to a more softer side ever since. Thanks a God Bless

I was 10 years old in 77, this song was on the radio all the time. It was a very romantic time in life, alot of music was much about love. So so dang great! That was cool to watch you guys watch and hear that and more importantly feel that! I always say, it sucks getting older, but I would never trade being born in 1967, because I lived through some of the greatest music genre's ever, for real. That was beautiful my friends....

2 songs "OLD DAYS" lighthearted song about life as kids remember some of the fun things they did. The studio version is excellent as always live version is too. It is a Dick Clark Rock n Eve 1975. Another on the same show is "WISHING YOU WERE HERE" Peter Cetera wrote for Terry Kath. It shows off his beautiful voice, and also includes the The Beach Boys as back up. It creates a dreamy quality. These are also when they incorporated the bongo and more percussion.

To keep everybody happy, you'll have to do songs from each era, the Terry Kath and post-Terry Kath eras, as his death is the marker between the two. He didn't play on this one, however. The earlier stuff had Chicago switching up the lead vocals; as others have mentioned there were three lead vocalists in the first era (up to the eleventh album). On their twelfth, "Hot Streets," Peter Cetera sang lead on all but the title track, which Robert Lamm sang.🙂

On this song Peter Cetera was the lead singer and bassist. Terry Kath was lead singer and guitarist on "Make me Smile", Robert Loghan (sic) was lead singer and keyboards on "Saturday in the Park ". Point is they had 3 phenomenal lead singers and 8 or 9 epic intrementalists

Probably an old video but Peter Cetera has a very unique sound. I remember reading once the reason his tone is so unique is because his jaw was broken and it was wired but they still had a bunch of tour dates on contract so he had to find that way and it changed his tone permanently
