Hi QoFy. Really great reaction. I don't see any reason to beat around the bush. I'm just going to come right out and say it. IMO, Courtney Hadwin is the greatest artist I've seen/heard in my life time and it's not even close. Talent doesn't have an age limit and so it doesn't matter that she is only 19. The things that she can do vocally are simply astounding. She can take a song to places other artists can only dream of reaching. The most incredible thing is that she can do it across multiple genres, and no matter the genre, there is never any drop off to the incredible quality of her music. Just look at the four brilliant originals she has released this year. First was a gorgeous, gritty ballad called 'Breakable. Then a sensational uptempo jazzy number with a touch of almost 1940s Swing called 'That Girl Doesn't Live Here'. Next was the emotion filled, intense 'Call Me Back' that will break your heart every time you hear it. Now there's this spectacular rock anthem, 'Monsters'. Listen to this, and the way Courtney can bend notes and belt out the song rivals any rock we've ever heard. Once you've listened to the musical beauty of all her originals, go back and listen to the lyrics. All have so mush depth and meaning. No fluff lyrics for Courtney just to sing some lines that will fit the music. She is such a powerhouse as a songwriter. Then add the brilliant creativity of this video and those on her previous originals. Her imagination is so good that it's mind boggling. Finally, for those that saw her on AGT, we all know she can dominate a stage like no other. Being the best at any one of these things would make her a star. Being the best at all of them puts her into a whole different category. Someone that will ultimately change the face of music. For now, we need to all listen, stream and share this magnificent rock anthem as much as possible so that we can drive this spectacular song to the top of the charts across the world and keep it there. This song is so good, that everyone on the planet needs to hear it. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Courtney is simply a rare breed in today's music world. She's built different. She has a powerful and forward modernized old school voice. Thus far, her lyrics come from the heart, and who knows if they directly or indirectly reflect herself now or in the past few years of struggles to get the point of releasing her music as an independent. She's a top 5 all-time vocalist for me personally, and the other 4 come from the metal world, since I am a lifelong metalhead (beginning in 1971 with Led Zeppelin). Enjoyable reaction/analysis.

You are one of the few reactors that I'd want to hear your take on how a singer sings, especially Courtney. (Btw, your attempts at showing how Courtney does certain things with her voice was the best I've heard for this song.) The thing that's pretty obvious for me is that some of Courtney singing techniques are all about feeling it. I mean she has all the proper singing technique and practices them hard, but she has that thing that most singers of today lack when trying to sing with soul. It's partly a great skill, but it's also just her being in the moment and getting into the character not only with her showman skills but with her vocals. I don't think I said that the way I meant it. Maybe a better way to say it is her voice is like a multi-processor unit that guitarists use to get different effects to feel a vibe while playing their instruments. Courtney has those effects naturally in her soul and I'm not sure she uses her voice that way purposely. It just happens for her. It's probably why she's said she's sang songs in one take and it's not always easy to do it the same the next time. Even her stage presence is in the moment. She has an idea of what she wants to do and then whatever happens happens. Thanks Sherry for this request.

She's got the growls, the squeaks, and the "big" sound in her middle and low registers (and we know that she has the most gorgeous falsetto, when she chooses to use it). I like your multi-processor analogy! And I think you're right; she's probably not arranging this all in her head, but more likely going with the flow as she feels it, if I'm reading you correctly. I'm so glad she finally released this one.

@@BrentOlsenExactly how I meant it. Her singing kinda reminds me of having a jam with anyone and nailing it in that moment. Knowing you may not get that same vibe next time.

Nice analysis. This video hews so closely to the lyrics, giving substance to the message she's putting out - and it's a message we all can relate to on some level. Courtney is a gifted songwriter, and her vocals are incredible. She can affect so many different timbres, or textures, to her voice that it's kind of like an artist using many different colors to create a painting. Thanks for the reaction, and I hope to see more with Courtney.

Glad you heard this one now. This is her 4th original single released since Feb 2023. Not bad for an indie artist on a shoestring budget. And she's definitely doing this on a shoestring budget. Checkout the professional quality music vids for the first three songs. Excellent! And now it's time to FINALLY release her debut album. She's been TRYING to get HER MUSIC done HER WAY out to fans for literally YEARS. Pandemic has been a lot of it, but so has apparent mismatch between this phenomenal young lady and the 'label' folks who 'inherited' her contract when Simon Cowell sold his shares of SYCO Music back to Sony in exchange for their shares of his reality TV empire. Yanno, the same show(s) that dropped singers Courtney Hadwin, Angelina Jordan, and Daneliya Tuleshova, and many others. Including more just THIS year. Crazy. Oh well.... Ms. Courtney finally broke down and setup a fundraiser page on GoFundMe so you can look her up there. Kevin Bowe, a professional music producer and songwriter is collaborating with her both on finishing writing her large backlog of songs and on getting them produced as her debut album. BUT, he's in Minneapolis, she's in the North of England. They need serious time in studio with musicians. All of that takes money that Ms. Courtney doesn't HAVE, and can't earn on her own in time to get that album out in reasonable timeframe now that nobody is STOPPING her from releasing her music. It's frustrating that this incredible talent is stuck trying to pull together funds to make this happen. She's a hard worker, as a preteen and early teen she was busking to earn gas money and money for proper vocal lessons beyond the choir instruction in music class at school. She wanted to be like Tina Turner, James Brown, Janis Joplin, and all the others she STUDIED here on KZbin. As a semi-rabid fan, I'm very proud of her for pulling herself up by her bootstraps, sticking to her 'guns' (her belief in herself and in her vision of what she could become) when all the 'label' pressure was to remake her into a teen model a la Twiggy to enhance the Disneyesque Pop Princess role they envisioned would make the most money for them. She's got some songs where bits and pieces of that struggle come out. Hopefully we'll get the rest of those songs. HER SONGS. And, yes, I've contributed what little I can to her fundraiser. I have more time than money at this late point in my life, thus my frequent, overly long comments on these reaction videos. Please help however YOU can. Thanks. We'll all be better for more of Ms. Courtney's music in our lives.

Love it--great reaction! That's just a little taste of what Courtney will be like back on stage! She has a GoFundMe with the goal of 20000 to enable her to come to America and finish her album with producer Kevin Bowe. She needs less than 1000 now to reach her goal! When her album is finished we can then see Courtney in her natural element--the stage!

Thanks, Qofy, I appreciate your reactions. I was a little afraid for Courtney to sing this song due to the subject matter, but she turned it into almost a masterpiece. She not only is a great singer who can handle a lot of various tones, etc. but is also brave in tackling difficult subject matters.
@prakaklef
@prakaklef 11 ай бұрын
If you think this is difficult subject matter, let's wait and see if she puts Less is More on the album. She posted a cover of P!nk's controversial song Dear Mr. President when she was only 15 and shrugged off quite a bit of criticism. This is nothing. I've always thought behind Courtney's sweet shy personality were hints of a rebel✊😎

Been watching videos of her for years. Clear back when she was a nine year old by her self singing at a pizza parlor in England. That open mic day at her school. Open air concerts, gig after gig. This young lady has paid her dues.Thanks for mentioning they deserve our support. I think we're so used to getting things free we forget these artists have overhead and should be compensated for their craft. Just now I bought and downloaded her available songs off of Amazon. That's something because I haven't paid for music in decades. Time to pay for the joy she brings. If you haven't had the chance, watch her on AGT. She blew the doors off, got a standing O. Howie went nuts. It was great.

Hi ! In the Call Me Back video, you say you'd like to hear Courtney do a rock song. This has been happening for a week with Cristmas Rocks. Pure rock and rock'n'roll. You will like.... I really like your work and the way you draw our attention to Courtney's vocal and musical qualities... by explaining to us the work on her breathing, on her voice, that she must do to achieve this result. That's great ! Thank you !

If it wasn't for Covid, industrial interference, and a run of bad luck, she'd be a global sensation by now, up there with Taylor Swift and the others. If she started her career in the mid 80s, she'd be all over the place.
