I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. They don't have a bad song! Huge list of hits! "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Proud Mary", "I Put A Spell On You", "Fortunate Son", "Down On The Corner", "Green River", "The Midnight Special", "Susie Q", "Born On The Bayou", "Travelin' Band", "Run Through The Jungle", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Sweet Hitchhiker", "Bad Moon Rising" etc.

Back in mid 1980s CCR's version of Heard it Through the Grapevine came on the radio while in the car with my father. Eventhough the tune had been around for 15 years I knew he'd never heard it. I gave him credit for getting 2/3 through it before yelling "aaaaaaahhhhhh" and changing the station.

Oh, such a deep rabbit hole. Every song on "Willie and the Poor Boys" is fire. Their covers of "I Heard it Through the Grape Vine" and "I Put a Spell On You" and "The Midnight Special" are... special. "Who'll Stop the Rain", "Fortunate Son", "Green River", "Born on a Bayou", "Bad Moon Rising", ... so many others. Late 60s early 70s.

You can't go wrong with a "CCR" song ❤‍🔥John Fogerty has some of the grittiest most soulful set of vocals you'll ever hear...simply beautiful stuff, bro. Here's another suggestion of a live performance, if interested. "Creedence Clearwater Revival - I Put A Spell On You (Live at Woodstock)" the band members were lead singer/lead guitarist and primary songwriter John Fogerty, his brother Tom Fogerty (rhythm guitarist), Stu Cook (bassist), and drummer Doug Clifford. This was a fun reaction 🕺AB Got Moves🕺🎸

Other responses have named good songs, but I would also check out Traveling Band (they rock out), Fortunate Son (one of the greatest protest songs EVER_), or Who'll Stop the Rain. @@kentclark6420 The Band and so many others were great back then, CCR and Skynyrd are just my top of the list go tos for that Southern Rock vibe. The list of other greats from that era goes on and on and we all have our personal favorites. I mean for a lighter sound from that era I would go America & James Taylor and probably Don McLean. For straight Southern Rock though CCR and Skynyrd are my top shelf picks, there are lots I could sit back and enjoy all day though. 👍🏼

You did quite well. You pronounced the name perfectly. We've know them as CCR for 5 decades. They produced a nice mix of original songs and covers. I like their covers of "Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "Good Golly Miss Molly". "Proud Mary" is an original that Ike and Tina Turner had a hit with. The time frame is late 60's and early 70's before they self destructed.

Be sure to watch the version of Centerfield where John and 3 of his kids set up at center field in (empty) Dodger Stadium on his 75th birthday and played... you can guess what. Clearly he was having a tremendous amount of fun! I've heard that he has said he loves baseball and wanted very badly to be a baseball player, and he got his wish... he played baseball very badly. So he became a rock star instead. It's my understanding that Centerfield is played at pretty much every major league baseball game.

CCR lead singer, guitarist and songwriter John Fogerty toured recently and I saw him for the first time, despite my having been a CCR fan and buying a number of their records back in the late 1960s. He has a tremendous amount of energy for a 78-year-old man, bouncing all over the stage, so I want to know what kind of vitamins he takes. He was backed up by a band that includes two of his sons. And he's definitely still got the juice. CCR was one of the headliner bands at Woodstock in 1969. Like many young bands of the era, CCR signed a very bad recording and publishing contract, and only recently did John finally get back the rights to his songs after a very long battle. He also got back the guitar he played at Woodstock, and he was practically giddy as he announced those two events from the stage. "I got my baby back! And I got my songs back, and I'm gonna play 'em for you!" Well worth seeing if he comes your way.

I remember being on the lake in a boat in '68. Wyoming. In our bad-ass boat. Middle of the lake at dusk. Dad playing Creedence out loud on the 8-track across the lake. Campfires all around. Late June. Fireworks shooting up around all around the lake as the sound blasted out across the waters. Does not get any better than that right there, folks. Epic moment in my life.

This was one of the last songs they recorded together before they broke up, it was written because they were so popular but they were fighting so much amongst themselves. There's a great documentary out about them. John Fogerty, who wrote all the songs, FINALLY won back the rights to his own songs from the recording company after a ridiculously long court battle, at least a decade iirc.

If you ever saw a Viet Nam war movie you probably heard them sing Fortunate Son. That was in every Vietnam war movie made. Other hits: Suzie Q, Proud Mary, Up Around the Bend, Heard It Through the Grapevine (cover), Born on the Bayou, Green River, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, Keep On Chooglin', Midnight Special (cover), Good Golly Miss Molly (cover), many others. First album 1968. Last studio album 1972 so pretty brief career but very productive.
