The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and in 2017 made Dimash a mega-star overnight. That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to KZbin ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

Dimash is from Kazakhstan, a country that locates in between Asia, Russia and Europe. He came to China to participate in this contest which is by invitation only. All the other contestants are professional singers, much more seniors, popular and well established singers and he was the youngest, unknown and from foreign country. Imagine an unknown foreigner came to US to compete with Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, etc. that’s how much pressure he was. You haven’t heard of Dimash because he won’t sign with producers in the West because he wants to do with his career what he wants to do! I don’t think a producer from the West would allow him to sing opera for example! Dimash likes to sing in ALL genres and he really doesn’t need any help from the Western music industry (which is basically Satanic in my view). He is already extremely successful all over the world. His concerts are always sold out very quickly and fans worldwide travel to his concerts wherever they may be. All vocal coaches on KZbin have given him the accolade of being the greatest vocalist of all time with his perfect technique, emotional singing and his epic stage presence as well as his perfection in all registers, in 7 octaves. He has multi millions of fans (300 million in China alone!) all over the world and he has fan clubs in 140 countries including lots in the US. No, he really doesn’t need the Western Music Industry and I for one, am very pleased about that!

SOS is the song that introduced Dimash to the world and opened many great opportunities and collaborations for him. This song comes from the famous 1978 Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' which is well known in French-speaking countries and is a pretty difficult song to sing. In 2017 Dimash received a wild card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant ever at 22 years old and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part in this competition. Although well-known and respected in his homeland Kazakhstan, nobody in China knew or heard about Dimash before, but with his first song, SOS, Dimash shocked the audience and captured the hearts of over 600 million of viewers overnight, and the rest is history as the saying goes.

Dimash enrolled in music college at 5 yrs old. His vocal cords have received intense training for 20 yrs. He holds master's degrees in many different types of music. He is considered to be the best vocalist in the world and a master performer. He sings in 12 languages and plays many instruments. He is an exceptional singer and excels in martial arts. His mother is a world-class opera singer, and his father is also a well-known singer. He was raised by his grandparents, which is customary in his home country of Kazakhstan. He appears in front of crowds of hundreds of thousands of people and is known to give the proceeds to charity. He is a very humble and shy man. He stands at 6 ft. 3 1/2" tall and weighs 200 pounds. He was 22yrs old at the time of this performance. His first album went platinum in 47 seconds.

Dimash is considered a great vocalist, because of a number of things: range - sings as a baritone, tenor and soprano (almost 7 octaves), and in each register he sings equally well; he has mastered his vocal control and breath control to perfection, within each register produces various timbres and colors of his voice; sings opera, classical crossover, pop, folk, rock, a bit of rap, and often blends different genres in the same song; storytelling, emotional delivery - his vocal abilities are tools in order to engage the audience into the stories and emotions of his songs; stage presence. Technically and artistically that’s a fact. His versatility, wide range, stage presence, performance, background, technique, creativity, powerful and beautiful voice makes him all in one 🔝🔝🎤❤️🌹 The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, turned 28 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Ukrainian/Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. A lot of recommendations which are great but you might check out Dimash's Playlist for the Dimash Digital Show held online on January 2021 due to the Covid quarantine. Every one of the songs and performances are out of this world. Old songs and new songs recorded live on a Ukrainian stage. (There is a behind the scenes video of the preparations for the online concert on Dimash's channel. ) So far only two songs are missing, Love of Tired Swans and Omir Oter but both have beautiful music videos.
