Ronnie James Dio is a great rabbit hole to follow from his earlier days until his later days. He had been singing since the 50s and started to get noticed when his band named "Elf" started opening for Deep Purple. The Deep Purple guitarist, Ritchie Blackmore liked his voice and formed his next band "Rainbow" (one of my favorite groups - "Stargazer" is a must) & then "Black Sabbath" after Ozzy. Then his time with his band "Dio" and finally "Heaven & Hell" (which was still Black Sabbath under a new name). Tons of great songs.

Named for Ronnie James Dio RIP (rock vocal God). RJD was also the lead singer for Elf, Rainbow (formed from the remains of Deep Puple by Richie Blackmore), Black Sabbath (replacing Ozzie Osborn), and Heaven and Hell (which was a reformed Black Sabbath, including Dio, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and new drummer Vinnie Appice replacing Bill Ward). A couple of things. That's "Ritchie" Blackmore, with a t, and Rainbow wasn't formed from the remains of Deep Purple - Blackmore left Deep Purple and they continued without him. The proper spelling of Black Sabbath's original singer is Ozzy Osbourne. And the song "Die young" was not originally written by Heaven And Hell the band, but by Black Sabbath and featured on the album "Heaven and hell" in 1980 - 30 years before Dio died. so not so prophetic. Especially since he died at the age of 67.

Ronnie James Dio is one of my favorite Rock vocalists. He lived and performed through rock and roll styles from the early 1960s to his final days in Heaven and Hell. It saddens me that he is gone. He still had a lot of good music left in him. RIP Ronnie.... And thanks for this video!

Yep...as said below. "Evil or divine". It's about the struggle between good and bad/right and wrong. The singer, Ronnie James Dio (RIP), was in Elf, Rainbow, replaced Ozzy for a bit in Black Sabbath, and then went "solo" with Dio. The guitarist that replaced Steve Clark (RIP) in Def Leppard, Vivian Campbell, was in early Dio.

"we'll know for the first time, if we're evil or divine". the interesting thing about RJD's voice is that he had such a meaty thick tone it doesn't sound like he's hitting high notes. Just try singing along to some of the songs and you'll realize the vocal range he had.

@Adogg Tv "If we're evil or divine...we're the last in line". It's talking about the end of an era and whether we live life to be "corrupted" by it...or as I call it...educated. Or do we continue to allow ourselves to hang by the burdens brought on by conforming to the institutions that seek to govern our destinies? It's pure gospel, wrapped up in an almost Tolkien/fantasy style metaphor. For example, what's more valuable to life, the freedom to live life itself or our "God" given liberties? We must choose between the marks a life led astray of our institutional guidance or the mark of the all-encompassing beast we've allowed it to become by putting all of our faith and trust into it. It's the same as his Black Sabbath song, "Heaven and Hell". In times of tribulation who do most of the devout turn to as their TRUE savior? It's certainly not the Gospel, it's their false idols...celebrities, politicians, etc. This is why in the 80's, the establishment tried "cancel culture" in the form of the PMRC to get this message from reaching my generation...Generation X. The misinterpretation most Christians have about Christ was, he was a representation of REBELLION, where as "Revolution" is the endless cycle of conflict established by our institutions. Religion. Pop Culture/Culture. Politics.
