Elvis blows Frank Sinatra away with my way !!! He received the greatest compliment ever from Paul Simon with bridge over troubled water ! Simon and Garfunkel wrote and hit number one with bridge over troubled water ! Paul Simon said after hearing Elvis sing it ! He said I don’t think I ever want to sing it again ! How can I match that !!

This was recorded originally by Frank Sinatra, but this is Elvis' song. It so personifies his life. I remember when he died as an 8 year old boy. This played on the radio constantly for weeks.

There ARE no modern acts like MJ and Prince without Elvis because Elvis broke down walls of racism and injustice with executives IN THE STUDIO, and AT VENUES that no one else (white) seemed to care about in his era. Frank Sinatra was important too though. But no one was bigger or did more than Elvis in the music world SOCIALLY. Lastly, the legend Sammy Davis Jr was asked to perform "IN THE GHETTO" by the writer, but he said that he couldn't do the lyrics because he never lived that life in the ghetto but told the writer that he knew ONE MAN that personified that life and was brave enough to sing it (remember MLK and both Kennedies got shot in that decade DANGEROUS TIME to be a public figure). It was Elvis Presley.

Estelle Brown, the last living member of Elvis Presley back up singer with the sweet inspirations, lives in Shreveport, La home of the Louisiana hayride where Elvis Presley first sang live on KWKH.. she said he was a good man, not a racist and once advised a concert if they didn’t have rooms for EVERYBODY on his staff they could cancel his concert! he also paid them above average salaries and after every concert they all sang hymns together .. Elvis was a proper poor raised Mississippi boy raised in a church household…

Check out Elvis' version from 1977. Filmed 6 weeks before his death, it is just as, if not more moving than this version and his voice is even more powerful than it is here. Some would say it's a better version than this one.

Frank Sinatra was not original of this song another man sung it and 67. This was a French song and Paul Anka wrote it in English and Frank Sinatra wasn’t originally either he was not the first thing I don’t know people noticed but the 1977 Elvis was higher on the charts and I believe we’re in Australia. It was a number two hit for Elvis. had a bigger hit in Frank Sinatra th Frank Sinatra had it in 69. I did not know that until a little while ago.
