My buddy showed me this song after we had been working together for a few weeks. He took a big risk doing so, because alot of people can't get past the gruesome side of it, and completely miss the point. Me and him are pretty much brothers, because we both try to find the art that makes the artist. Just know that I'd rather have a beer with you, than someone who would call you crazy for relating to this song. Some people see em as a monster, while I just see a fellow human, that's been broken

@@jaywilliams6250 In Stan, the verse where Stan is talking to Eminem in the car was meant to be like "'kim" with him screaming and shouting the lyrics and he did that but the audio engineer deleted it or something which pissed Eminem off because he tried to redo that verse a few times but couldn't make it as emotional or angry as the original take. That's why if you listen to Stan now you will hear how relatively calm that verse is compared to how he delivers his lines in Kim.

Imagine me being an 11 year old girl playing this for the first time at low volume on my STEREO (😂) so my parents wouldn’t hear it. I thought it was scary, but not gonna lie… listening to it again now as an adult after experiencing betrayal/being cheated on… I understand the pure rage. You can definitely love and deeply hate someone so much at the same time. At least in my experience. Imagine poor Hailie having to hear this stuff when she got older. I like her podcast. She seems very humble and down to earth all things considered. She will sometimes share a little story about “Dad” every now and then and I live for it lol

This is the song Stan references in Stan. Dre has an old interview where he references seeing Em go in the studio to record this song and it’s pretty amazing. Despite how dark it is this is to be one of my favorite songs of his because of the raw unfiltered emotion that sends chills down your spine. Not to mention the storytelling and how you can literally visualize this song playing out like a scene as you listen to it. From the lyrics to the audio of the truck and the leaves rustling. It just makes you feel like it’s all real. I agree. Bonnie and Clyde is next if you haven't already. This is first and that comes after. This is the type of song that scares alot of people and he vented heavily. People protested him for this too i think

This is actually one of my favorite songs by Eminem because if you listen to it it's almost like you're watching a movie like a thriller/drama /horror 💯 and btw that was Eminem doing Kim's voice.

Glad they’re finally getting to the old good stuff. Funny how you guys are reacting to this stuff the exact same way people did when it came out. The fact he can make you FEEL that in a song is what’s great. Hence his success.

Starting off reading the back story about it being a love song made the reactions so much more raw. The facial expressions were priceless. Definitely much darker than y'all were ready for based on the "love song" description.

from a creative point of view, this is one of the top 5 songs ever, in any genre, not just rap. this is pure art, simply a masterpiece. i was 12 years old when i heard it first, and i grew up in a disfunctional family with a lot of domestic violence, so hearing this at such a young age traumatized me. but i'm glad it made me feel the way it did, real art is supposed to hit you in any way possible. also, check out the cover for the slim shady lp album which was released before this one. eminem and his daughter are chilling on a pier and there is a car next to them with a female foot sticking out of the trunk. it's basically a picture of this song's ending that was yet to be created. mindblowing

That's Em playing both characters. That's part of the reason why people told u to react to this. Em went hard on that whole album. U need to react to Amityville or drug ballad. Drug ballad is legendary to all the addicts. Don't know how many times I've heard addicts give em his props for that.

Thank you for doing this. Summer 2000. Fort Lee Virginia. I purchased this CD from the PX and didn't get a chance to pop it in my portable CD player (yes, I'm that old) until lights out. I fell asleep to the CD two songs in, BUT THEN... ...I woke up RIGHT WHEN this song came on. I sat up in my bunk absolutely stunned at what I was hearing. It was (at the time) the darkest and most disturbing song I had ever heard. When the song ended, I just sat there speechless. To this day, I find this song to be both brilliant and terrifying.

It's all about perspective. How do you feel when you broke up with someone who was your entire world? Hurt, betray, pain, agony, anger. I don't think think he'd ever do anything he did in this song, more or less what he felt and just belted out his emotions and illustrated them in a way anyone could feel it
