I'm glad you started this too. These reactions to some of my favorite rappers of all time Rakim, BDK, Kool G Rap, are really taking me back to those memories and the feelings we felt when this all dropped. Now you're talking about 80's LL....I hope you do KRS-1(Boogie Down Productions), Slick Rick and Biz Markie as well. I hope you continue down this path and become a true Hip-Hop historian too. You haven't even scratched the surface yet, and I'm excited to see how your journey unfolds.

Rakim is the GOD MC....he is the beginning for alot of what we would call the golden era. Him along with KRS and Big Daddy kane set the tempo for late 80s flow..cadence and style...and they were really a reflection of the young drug dealers of that time. This song bang in the car..on the radio...at the skate ring....in the clubs and all over Americans blocks and hoods.

Alot of the cats we learned from were gangstas and pimps, drug dealers...but during the Crack Era in the 1980s some of those cats come out of prison Muslim, 5% percenters which I believe Rakim was, or Hebrew, my neighborhood was a GD neighborhood, Jewed Up, followers of King David and the 6 pointed Star, most Vicelords were Islamic types and Knowledge was very important, in my neighborhood Love, Life, Loyalty, Wisdom, Understanding and Knowledge was scrawled on almost every block, these were the type of cats that told Ra and kids like me the streets wasn't all that glitter and gold, cats like that stayed behind the scenes and typically financed studio time and production.
