To the tune of 'Lost in Paradise': A sale, in men’s wear, won’t last long, so hurry. Big savings, could be…yours. But they have nothing left. And all they have are their empty, shelves. You were tricked into rushing there. And now, you’re lost in aisle five.

Yeah you guys were right about the meaning of this song, it’s about her relationship with the fans and how the band is both the best and worst thing about her life, but the fans are the ones that keep her strong. She’s been through IT with abusive relationships, label struggles (including assault and battery), death of siblings, but she’s always such a positive force of light. That’s why I love her so much, she’s got me through a LOT.

Guys, just for your information, there's also a purely acoustic version of this amazing song, with just Amy and the piano. I think it's called the 'Session' version and it's absolutely stunning. Love your reaction as usual. Amy Lee is for me, the finest female singer/songwriter/performer in the world today, no question.

In this song, Evanescence is when a person dies and passes on, and their spirit lingers. For the people alive, the dead person's memory fades over time. When the memory fades that is called 'evanescence.' She is singing from the deceased person's perspective [She is the fading memory in the mind of the living person]. Many of their songs do that. Paradise in this situation is the afterlife for her, but the person she fell in love with is still alive. What is left behind is her feelings. In Freudian psychology that is called the Id or the unconscious mind. It is kind of a betrayal. Thank you.

First time on the channel and I enjoyed your selection and reaction. Amy's voice is so captivating and pleasing to the ear, she could get away with saying just about anything. But what isn't talked about as much is how often the lyrics communicate complicated emotions from a profoundly honest and vulnerable perspective that resonates with people as their own inner voice. These lyrics are an excellent example. Anyone who has dealt with a situation where your success becomes 'the reason you have to' instead of 'the reason you want to' would likely agree that in the end, it's choosing to uphold your obligations to other people over what you needed for yourself that will break you. If the circumstances of maintaining your success prevent you from coping with self-doubt, inspiration, motivation, pressure, criticism and distractions, there can be no new success or growth. Art projects requiring a group of people seem especially difficult. It is hard enough for those to be successful when everyone is unified and motivated by a shared vision and is proud of what they've created in the end. But if the project is successful and the group wants to sustain that, you accept an obligation to maintain stability over personal ambitions and feelings about each other and about the process of creating and performing. If you aren't enjoying the people or the creative process, you have to choose between putting the success you've achieved at risk for everyone and regaining the control you've lost. Lost in paradise. To get that control back, you'd have to start choosing yourself and anyone who loses control or feels insulted will resent you for that. By telling the truth about not being able to continue that way and apologizing to everyone who feels let down or offended, you can face the fallout and move past the guilt of allowing yourself to leave those obligations behind. Of course, in Amy's case, she delivered that open letter apology in the form of this amazing song.

Believe me lost in paradise is a bad feeling. I was stranded in Hawaii for 10 mths. No money, no job, eating whatever I could find. Watching all the tourists come and go. Finally got a job and earned enough for a ticket back to the mainland and hitchhiked back to Texas.
