@@taca2118 Yeah that one has so many layers and so many themes from other parts of the game. The Whisper theme, Shinra's theme, the battle music, the opening song, the original bits of One-Winged Angel.....they took Uematsu's masterpiece, paid homage to it and created a wonderful piece that really ties the game together and hammers home that SPOILERS AHEAD Sussyroth is actually futureroth and has come back from the future to mess things up and make the party kill fate so that he might be able to change the events of the now-sequal. He WANTS us to win.

I went to a Distant Worlds performance once, and they performed this song as an encore. Since it was an encore though, they didn't have the choir, so they instead did asked the audience to sing the vocal parts ourselves. They said we only needed to do the "Sephiroth" lines, but we did the whole thing. Also, since Nobuo Uematsu was at the performance, he got up on the stage and directed us. I will say, among the FF villain themes, I would also suggest Dancing Mad.

I also went to a Distant Worlds performance, and they actually played the Advent Children version of the song. Uematsu was there as a surprise though, we had no idea. So... right as the key change happens and the electric guitar part starts, the choir shifts apart, and down from the risers comes Uematsu shredding it.

For me, the only other JRPG final boss music that has this epic of a feeling is Unrestrained Struggle from Valkyrie Profile 2. While it's not as popular of a game as Final Fantasy VII, I think the soundtrack for it is criminally underrated. Unrestrained Struggle Dancing Without Malice Or Mercy Indescribable Grief Never Surrender Start Up From Prolonged Darkness A Thoughtful Strategy Multiplexed Contradiction In Order To Acquire The Light In That Hand Movement Of Distorted Causality Climax Coming From The Abyss A Motion Of Finishing Blow Sank Memories Disturb The Doubtful Sleep No Knowledge Of Wisdom Neighboring Infinity Celestial Troupe I'd recommend for anyone to listen to these if you haven't heard them.

Admittedly, this is an arrangement for full symphony and choir. And it is as amazing performed live as you would think. But the original PlayStation version sounded quite different; did have the vocals, though. As a trivia item, except for the cries of "Sephiroth", the lyrics to "One-Winged Angel" are cribbed from Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana".

Probably the only other FF final boss battle music that can match One Angel in its... grandiosity. I would have to say is Dancing Mad from VII's predecessor VI.
@ranekeisenkralle8265
@ranekeisenkralle8265 Жыл бұрын
While i will concede that Dancing Mad is pretty high up there, in my opinion it does not match up to One Winged Angel. Close, but not quite. Going by the Distant Worlds version, I have to say Dancing Mad suffers a bit from repetitiveness during the second act (minutes two to four). The organ in other parts does lend it a lot of power though. In a way Dancing Mad's biggest problem (from my perspective) is that it "builds" throughout the stages of the battle, resulting in feeling much like a combination of several themes, rather than one coherent piece. This is where it falls short of One Winged Angel as far as I am concerned. One Winged Angel is just full-power from start to finish - no buildup required.

One of the reasons this song is so legendary is because it's essentially the theme song for FF7's main antagonist, Sephiroth, who is among the most iconic villains in gaming. Both he and the game's protagonist, Cloud, are like the poster boys for heroes and villains in the JRPG genre. They both even got into Super Smash Bros! My personal favorite of the Final Fantasy big orchestral boss themes has to be "Hellfire" from FF15. It plays during the battle against Ifrit, with parts of the music leaning into styles associated with the Arabic origins of the character's namesake.
@carlotta4th
@carlotta4th Жыл бұрын
"What could be happening in the game to warrant this?" Well that's partially why the music is so memorable. Because the Sephiroph battle pulls out a *minute long* cutscene of him causing a supernova, destroying all the planets, and raining fiery hell on your party while this song plays. It looks so amazing and it is completely, totally unskippable so all you can do is sit there and listen to this while the attack comes your way.

FFVII Is one of my 3 favorite games of all time, after FFIX and maybe Nier:Automata. And one winged angel is great. That having been said, it's not even my favorite, literally every song in these three games is amazing. FFIX has, in my opinion, the best OST ever, a true masterpiece, and Nier: Automata is not much worse, and FFVII is no slouch either. This song definitely hits harder in context though, although most FF songs do. If you enjoyed this one I recommend you react to "Jenova" from ffvii:Remake. Or the "airbuster" score. Honestly, all FF music is worth reacting to, and you should. Another good one is the "Final fantasy theme" itself, which I consider one of gaming national anthems, there is a different version for each final fantasy though XD

This is the final boss music for FF7! In the original game, after you defeat the boss's first form, the screen goes totally black and THIS starts playing - BUM BUM BUM BUM deedee DEEdee deedee DEEdee - before the scene loads back in and you see the boss's Final Form. If you're not expecting it, it can absolutely drop your heart into your shoes, even in its original MIDI format. FF7 has some of the best music in video games, bar none. And the recent remake did a wonderful job of updating and remixing it. If you've never played FF7, I ABSOLUTELY recommend playing it - you can start with either the original or the remake, they are pretty different games but either one can serve as a good starting point. If you're interested in checking out more from FF7, I recommend reacting to the Final Fantasy VII Remake opening scene. It'll give you a much better sense of the kind of epicness this game world deals with. Or, if you aren't really planning to play the game and want a bit of a laugh, go look up a compilation of streamers reacting to hearing Sephiroth's theme and the start of the final battle in the FF7 Remake. The combination of sheer delight and total terror on the faces of anyone who played the original game is absolutely hilarious.

If you want any context for the song: The world is about to come to an end and you have traveled down to the very core of the planet to seek the most powerful super soldier to ever exist, who went so mad with power that the entire world fears him. Now as the world around you shifts surrealistically to reflect the power of this one person, this one being, his powers transform him into that of a Seraph, a six winged angel as this music starts playing. This godlike being with this divine look, surrounded by the surreal environment and the knowledge that the world will soon end, you have to somehow beat him even if the very music is telling you how outmatched you are.

This is the song that plays during the final boss battle of Final Fantasy 7. It wonderfully encapsulates the awe and terror that he inspires in people. It helps that his most powerful attack is that he causes a goddamn supernova. Also, fun fact about the song itself: when Nobuo Uematsu was writing One Winged Angel he didn’t write it from start to finish. He wrote a whole bunch of measures and then stitched them together into this masterpiece.

Distant World is the Tour that plays Final Fantasy Songs. So, they have adapted all the songs played into Orchestra version. You can search for the original version which may sound a lil different but not less epic. Btw, OWA is a boss fight song and this is the final boss fight with a Huge Meteor falling down as you try to defeat the Boss, Sephiroth who is the strongest fighter known in the world of Final Fantasy 7.

You gotta understand. This is what you heard after spending hours in this world. Solving puzzles, fighting monsters, and discovering secrets while getting stronger. All in a race against a doomsday scenario with the main antagonist Sephiroth just burrowed into the back of your mind. The perpetual threat. An absolute incarnation of evil and selfish destruction built on lunacy. Furthermore, he's killed people, people you were attached to both as a character and the player, then when you finally face him for the last showdown, your ears are met with this. It is perfect.

Nobuo Uematsu, composer for this piece and most Final Fantasy games in general, is an absolute genius in his field. This song is played while fighting the final boss, who amongst other things attacks with a supernova that you can see engulfing several other planets. There are videos of this song on YT with the bossfight shown.

Another FF7 classic I would suggest is the Jenova boss fight theme! I've seen people react to the original version from the PS1 game first, and then the FF7 Remake boss fight theme, which comes in three parts to match the 3-phase Jenova Dreamweaver fight. It's really neat to see how the classic track was adapted - the drop at the start of the third phase of the fight is EPIC. The Black Mages also did an absolutely incredible rock/electronica version I highly recommend.

Going back to your question about if there are live performances for this soundtrack, there actually is! Here in Vancouver, Canada, about a month ago, they had a whole orchestra here playing the soundtrack to this! I was working at the time so I couldn't go, but I would pay any money to go and see the orchestra. This game was a blast from my childhood, and really the only game that stood out. The game and soundtrack were both revolutionary for its time!

Just one thing to mention, is the version you're listening to here isn't the same version as what was in the original game. It wasn't a full blown orchestral recording in-game, but it did have the choir in it. As someone who wasn't expecting to hear this when I got to that boss fight, I can say it was an amazing moment. The opening that starts up before the boss fight is fully loaded in really gets your attention immediately, and then when the choir comes in it was just mindblowing. There were bits of choir here and there in previous tracks in the game, but not nearly as loud and powerful as this track, and it really blew me away. It wasn't until FFVIII that they actually started putting any full orchestral recordings directly in the game.

The Final Fantasy series has some of the best music in gaming. I personally consider Nobuo Uematsu one of the greatest composers of the era. Comparable to John Williams. If you haven't, you should check out FF3 Final Battle (Cloud of Darkness), Battle on Big Bridge, Dancing Mad, JENOVA, The Extreme, and You Are Not Alone. All are incredible songs and some of the series best.

Final Fantasy 7 was what got me into classical music. The major songs from the game paint a great portrait of the characters they represent. In this case, the character is fanatical and militaristic, sinister and insane, all while being terrifyingly awe inspiring.

This is orchestral version perform by Distant World. This was firstly perform in PS1 FF7 game, and since then develop into many different version, and Advent Children version is consider the best upgrade to the original piece. The composer Nobuo Uematsu once perform the Advent Children version with Distant World in one of concert at Japan. As this song, this is the last boss battle in original FF7, and thus the epicness. Another FF song/music that highly praised are To Zanarkand (FFX), Dancing Mad (FFVI), Liberi Fatali FF(VIII), Not Alone (FFIX), Battle (or Clash) on the Big Bridge (FFV), Fight with Seymour (FFX), Blinded by Light (FFXIII), Somnus (FFXV), Apocalypsis Noctis (FFXV), and so many more
