The whole band is awesome in their own way Pat Smear was also in Nirvana and Dave Grohl is one of if not the nicest guys in Rock and Roll, back 4 or 5 years ago during one of their concerts Dave accidently stepped off stage and broke his ankle instead of calling off the concert he sat on stage with a doctor who was a fan from the audience holding his foot in place and did the rest of the show, now that's going hard

Dave Grohl is the man, seriously one of the coolest and most talented people ever. Not only was he the drummer for Nirvana, he recorded every part on the first Foo Fighters album himself and then had to get a band together to tour his material! In 1993 Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were looking for a new drummer and Dave Grohl was in the running; he drummed for them on Saturday Night Live on the song "Honey Bee" and KILLED IT. NBC controls the video for that pretty hard but the audio is available; I highly recommend reacting to the SNL performance of "Honey Bee"!

Nick Oliveri, during the recording of Queens of the Stone Age's 'Songs for the Deaf', tried to convince Dave to give up the The Foo Fighters and stick to drumming. Dave's drumming on Them Crooked Vultures is dope, also. Them Crooked Vultures was Dave, Josh of the aforementioned Queens, and John Paul Jones of Led Zep. Such a great album.

Saw them live near atlanta georgia in 2012. I was 22 and talked my dad into going with me. My dad had been going to concerts all his adult life. He came out of that arena saying it was the best live show he had ever been to.

This is one of the most dedicated bands... Dave Grohl broke his ankle on stage once. There was a doctor in the audience that volunteered to help out, because Dave refused to end the show. The doctor had Dave sit in a chair for the rest of the performance, while holding Dave's foot/ankle in a safe position. I don't remember all the details, but the conditions were something like "if you try to stand up and walk, you could cause some serious, permanent damage". It has been a while since I heard this story, so some minor details might be slightly inaccurate, but that's the gist of it

Dave Grohl not only fronts and writes their songs but he’s a drummer himself (he was the drummer for a little band called…Nirvana!) so he writes great drum riffs in every song and oh my, how Taylor Hawkins runs with it! Live is the best way to appreciate the Foo Fighters but a close second is watching their Wembly show online, especially Evermore, There Goes My Hero and the Best. There's a lot of modern era drummers that are good. But you have to go back to find the greats. I've been a pro drummer for a long time. To me the greatest of all time was Buddy Rich. If you really want to be blown away check out the video Buddy Rich Impossible Drum Solo. Here's the link. He actually suffered a heart attack during this solo and continued on.
