Dave Grohl once broke his leg while playing a show, like the first or second song, had his band play some covers while he went to the hospital to get some treatment, went back to the venue about an hour after he broke his leg and then finished the set that was like 2 hours long while a medic helped to keep the leg stabilized. He is an absolute legend and the very definition of a rock star, but he's also super humble and down to earth from what I've seen in interviews and such. The rest of the band are also legends but Dave definitely is the front man. RIP to Taylor Hawkins.

Absolute goat 🐐 status that night. I was turned onto Foo Fighters because of Prince of course 2007 Superbowl.
@CrippledMerc Жыл бұрын
As far as I’m aware he didn’t go to the hospital mid-set. I believe he went backstage and the medic put on like an aircast or brace to stabilize it, then he came back out to finish the show while the medic held his ankle in a stable position for the entire rest of the set. They reunited a few years after the event on a talk show I think. Either way, they’re both badasses in their own respects. Dave for finishing the show with a broken ankle, and the medic for holding his foot stable for the entire thing so that no more damage was done.

If this was like 3 or 4 years ago (I could be wrong on that timeline) he had like a throne built for the rest of that tour that held his leg in a good spot and played the shows from it. I've never heard of radio rock. In the 80s the goal for more pop oriented bands was to sell out arenas so the term "arena rock" was invented. Bands like Bon Jovi fit this description. Foo Fighters continues in this vein but the real genre of these bands is just Hard Rock. They continue the tradition of pop oriented hard rock music like AC/DC, Aerosmith and Bon Jovi just with 90s/00s flavor.
@BalbazaktheGreat Жыл бұрын
"Radio rock" - Dude, the appropriate term is Alt-rock. I don't know if they were ever truly thought of as Grunge; I feel like that label is only there because people saw them as sort of a successor to Nirvana. Definitely grunge-adjacent at least, though.

I was hoping you'd get to the Foos at some point. They have been my favorite band for nearly 30 years. Theirs was the first concert I ever went to as a teenager and my first mosh pit and crowd surfing experience. And I'm not white! 😆Seeing them live is incredible and you should definitely go for it. Of course it won't ever be the same without their drummer Taylor but I'm so happy to see them touring again with Josh Freese and can't wait to see them again. As far as genre goes I'd say they are the definition of hard rock, post grunge born out of 90's alternative music which the lead singer Dave Grohl helped usher in as the drummer of Nirvana. Their catalog is huge but some definite songs to eventually follow this up with would be "All My Life" "Monkey Wrench" "I'll Stick Around" "Run" "My Hero" "Everlong" "Something From Nothing" "Rope" "Best of You" and "Times Like These" That list gives you a wide spread along their history of albums. Looking forward to the next one you give a try to.

I do love seeing someone getting into FF for the first time, it's just so satisfying. The best part is that FF is never derivative. Does Grohl have the best vocals or talent on the guitar or drums? No, but it's a sum of all parts that makes FF legendary. I liked FF for a long time, but never considered myself a fan until i read about Grohl many years later and got to understand who he was as a man. Seriously, read into him some and you'll have a whole different level of respect for who he is. He's been through a lot, but has spent a huge part of his professional career making sure other musicians don't have to struggle like he did. And while I don't have kids myself, reading about how god damned great he is as a father is so good. He won't take shit from others, especially when it affects his kids.

Another great reaction Rob! You should get to Ren - "Hi Ren" I'm pretty sure it will be up your alley... he's a singer that is on the rise right now, all independent, no record labels... and to me he's a genius! Check it out

lead singer of foo fighters was the drummer for Nirvana. The world of grace and provisions has completed another circle of life and legend.

Let's go! Not a huge Foo Fighters fan, but I've been in plenty of mosh pits.

Haha my first concert was System of a Down opening for Fear Factory. Good times. Speaking of which, if you want more tracks for your crazy workout playlist throw Shock by Fear Factory on it.

Loving your channel and vibe. I found you based on your reaction to "Killing in the Name of" and have been going through the rest of your stuff. It makes me love some of my music all over again seeing your energy. Thanks for letting us join in this mind expansion. Would love to see you do Living Color's Cult of Personality or Scorpion's Winds of Change.

Yes Foo Fighters is very mainstream. They're like that mainstream that even the underground snobs typically respect though. Really good job identifying that from the sound alone!
