This is the song. Everyone thinks defying gravity is the theme song but this is the one that captures the entire feeling of the show and the relationship of the characters.

The line that guts me every time: "It well may be that we will never meet again in this lifetime." It wrecks me. My partner of 20 years, Michael, and I had tickets to see this show on Broadway in December of 2008. At the end of November, he suddenly got very ill, and were unable to travel to NYC to see the show. I gave the tix to my cousin and her sister in law (they had a blast). On January 1 of 2009, Michael went into ICU and never came out. He passed on March 3rd from lymphoma. The following year I finally got to see the show when it came to San Diego. I bawled my eyes out when they performed this song, thinking about Michael, especially when Elphaba sings the line I mentioned. It just resonates with me that we never know when might be the last time we'll be with someone. He would have loved this show. Now, every time I see Wicked (six times and counting), and every time I hear this song, I think of him ... and yes, I cry, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. LOL ... Stephen Schwartz is a genius.

The song is beautiful, these voices are sublime, but it's the meaning behind the words that make this song so powerful. How we treat others, whether it's a single encounter or a relationship of any kind, can change a person's life or even the course of history. Makes you think about those who have impacted your life even by a single comment and especially love those who made a big impact and feel sorrow if they are no longer in your life. It also makes you reflect on how you have treated others and wonder how much you might have changed them not for the better but possibly for good.

I love the meaning of them switching harmonies lines showing they truly have changed eachother embodied musically as glinda did the high harmony for the rest of the show and elephants was on the bottom but for this number they switched

I was blessed enough to see the original cast with Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, who had actually broke her leg and a dress rehearsal. So I actually got to see Kristin Chenoweth and Eden Espinosa. Which was absolutely majestic! This is a magical musical! Great REAL RAW reaction!

I saw this musical in San Francisco when it had its world premiere pre-broadway with the original cast and I knew then it would be a smash. And this song tears my heart out for so many reasons

People wouldn't really define this as a "love song", but imo, it's the most loving song I've ever heard, and it hits me way harder than any romantic ballad ever could. I cry every time I listen to it, and it's just...so spectacularly moving. Absolutely love that this hit you in the same way, and I loved the reaction! I hope you get the chance to see Wicked someday, bc obvs this song gets even more meaningful w/ the proper context, as Elphaba and Glinda's relationship is obvs the heart of the whole show, and so many of the other songs contain at least a little part that deepens their relationship, so by the time you get to this song, "For Good", the weight of the meaning really hits home hard, bc you've gotten to SEE that impact that they're singing about for yourself. 💖

This song is just glorious. I've had the privilege of seeing this musical twice and I'm hoping to go again soon. It's my favourite! Your reaction was so moving and I really thank you for reacting to this. I reckon you'd love the live musical too (sorry I don't know if you've seen it). But I can't recommend it enough if you ever visit the UK!

I know I am late to this video and haven’t read all the comments, but I want to point something out. At about 4:35, when they sing that they’ve been changed for the better, the harmony shifts. The entire musical, when these two harmonized, Elphaba went low and Glinda went high. Here, they switch.

Man. This brings the tears every time. My friend Kenny was my first room mate. We had a lot of fun. He was such a good friend. He was beautiful and funny and had no reason to befriend soneone like me. He got into drugs and i became a drunk but we got sober. We had one good year of being clean together then he died tragically. This song always reminds me of him.

I love this show and have seen it multiple (multiple, multiple) times. This is truly a song that hits my heart and I have sent it to several friends over the years as a "this is you and me" song. Because they each changed me in different ways, fill different roles and have done life with me in "our" way. This is a glorious song. These two ladies ... whoof. Adore them! You MUST see this. No choice. Next time it comes near you, just go. Get a ticket by yourself and go to the Wednesday matinee. (And then go back on Saturday night.)

This is, by far, my favorite musical of all time. Probably followed closely by Hamilton. I've seen it at least 5 times, maybe more. The music is so overall amazing that each performer is able to make it their own without losing the overall quality.

This is top 3 musicals. And one of my favorite all time songs. My aunt passed away 7 years and she was my BEST friend in the whole world and I have since dedicated this song to her and cry (or get emotional) every time second verse starts.

one of my favorite songs. This was the first musical i ever saw, and now almost a decade later im a theatre major. I had a best friend in middle school and we were both obsessed with Wicked. She ended up moving across the country in the middle of 8th grade and on her last day we sang this to each other.

I’ve heard this song a million times, but watching your video something just jumped out at me: every other time Glinda and Elphaba harmonized Glinda would take the higher melody. Kinda showing how she thought she was better than Elphie. But in this one, Elphaba did! Showing that Glinda went through a bit of an emotional maturity. Holly crap lol

I've seen it live twice! It is so good! This one and Les Mis are probably my two favorite Musicals. I am a big fan of Loathing in this musical and it is amazing to see how the theme of Loathing turned into this one They have been working on a movie for Wicked for a while now and I so can't wait to see that one (though I am a bit hesitant because of the cast list)

Oh Travis, Travis, Travis..... We have *GOT* to stop with the waterworks, or buy stock in Kleenex if you plan to react to every song on this album! This is my favorite song from this show (followed closely by Defying Gravity) and your reactions often reduce me to tears...in a good way. Oh, hell. The whole soundtrack is fabulous. I first fell in love with the book *"WICKED"* by Gregory Maguire when it came out almost thirty years ago. (He has since written three excellent sequels) I loved the story and the message. Then twenty years ago the first book was adapted beautifully for the stage and turned into a musical! Of course I didn't get to see it until five years later. And fell in love with it again. Now I understand it's being made into a movie (to be released in two years) with Ariana Grande as Glinda and Jeff Goldbloom as the Wizard! It's one of those gifts that just keeps on giving and giving and giving.....Another one of those things I have to learn patience to survive, grrrrr. In the meantime, a few years ago, there was a 15th Anniversary Wicked Halloween Special with past and current cast members and other stars (Adam Lambert, Pentatonix, etc.) performing the songs. Maybe not to react to...but at least to enjoy. Should be out there somewhere on KZbin!

I saw this twice a week apart when it first was on Broadway. I took my daughter to see it in 2019 and it became one of her favorites. It’s an amazing show and you can’t get through it without Kleenex.

This is the one that gets stuck in my head most of all from this show. I was fortunate enough to see the touring production of Wicked last summer while on vacation in Minnesota, and it's even better seeing it in context... but it's always so moving and meaningful.

Please check out the British Musical Boy Band called Collabro. They have just finish their final tour and this song is the song they picked to sing for each other. They won Britain's Got Talent 2014. I think you have watched their performance at the auditions. In fact that is how I found your channel in the first place.
