He likely learned how to phonetically pronounce the words, although he may not understand them. I know a number of people who learn new languages by learning to pronounce the lyrics of songs, then translate them. This way they can learn those words in that new language.

Moreover, if Gabriel had followed a formal education with a teacher, he might have become attached to those techniques and might not have developed the same experimental approach to singing that he has now. It was my first time hearing Gabriel too... I recently had to describe what kind if singing I love the most and I came up with: "Singing the heart out, with the power of the voice", and he definitely does that!!! Purely amazing! And that's what I love in Son Jin Wook's singing too. For me he is just as great, or at least has a true potential to be. I'd love him to have an amazing vocal coach like you... For me his talent is like a diamond that could get to shine even more in hands of a right craftsman. What he also needs in my opinion, is a good push (and a proper management :/ ) to spread the wings.

Such a fantastic reaction. I think he's the most versatile and powerful male singer I've ever heard!!!! Otherworldly. Your comment on body following the mind and so on...,, brought to mind this case in point. Scott Hoying of Pentatonix is a VERY physical singer. They have a cover of "Say Something" and were trying to portray a very somber mood. They asked him not to sing with his hands, so he had a death grip on the chair next to him to keep from moving. He looked miserable. For me, it wasn't just the mood they set for the song, he himself was having a mood because he couldn't emote with his hands. I couldn't wait for your reaction to this. You didn't disappoint!
