A bit of backstory behind this track. At the time when The Moment of Truth album was being recorded Guru was facing gun charges and could potentially be facing 5 years. This could've ended Gang Starr legendary 90's run with Guru not being able to help promote the album while being inside and the group being split up for 5 whole years. This would've meant no full clip, no 8 mile soundtrack and most likely no "The Ownerz." But the BOOM! Guru wins the trial, the album comes out and ends up becoming Gang Starr's biggest commercial success with it going gold and containing some of their greatest hits to date! The first verse was actually recorded before the trial had even begun which makes it even better. Just the story behind this track alone makes it the greatest song of all time to me...
