He helped get Mariah Carey her record deal with Tommy Matola. He worked with many artists as a musician. This was one of his very few attempts at being in front of a microphone, and in my opinion, HE NAILED IT with this joint !! This is one of my all time favorite songs. R.I.P. indeed KING.

To me, Gavin Christopher will always be a talented songwriter. His compositions for Rufus & Chaka Khan - both together and solo - are highly rated. He also wrote for Loleatta Holloway, Clarence Carter, Grandmaster Flash, Africa Bambaataa, Herbie Hancock, Passion, Ava Cherry, Carl Calton, and his sister Shawn Christopher. Don't Lose The Magic is the song I choose to remember him with. It's fitting that his sister was the person he wrote it for.
