For Dave, the singer and song writer of the band, he has mentioned a few meanings behind the song, including what you got out of it -- a relationship that has gotten lost along the way and you end up being mirages of yourselves -- but the original spark of an idea for the song is about a close friend of his who passed away and their birthday is in June, so every year around that time he ends up thinking of this person and all the memories they shared. If you are into sentimental songs that pull at your heartstrings like this one, AGNES by Glass Animals is possibly their most emotionally intense song that will get you in your feels for sure. It is about that same friend, and how that friend died by suicide. The video is SO powerful. CORRECTION: The Agnes video is WEIRD (many of their vids are) but once you find out wtf is going on in the video and the meaning behind it, along with the lyrics of the song, it is powerful.
