First time hearing these guys. I like the industrial, progressive sound. Also, resists the temptation to which many singers in the genre succumb, staying melodic and occasionally forcefull. I'll be joining you for the next one.

Welcome to the Haken rabbit hole. They're from the UK, coming together as a band in the mid-to-late 'aughts' (post-2005, I believe). You're going to find all sorts of goodies here. Haken is FANTASTIC when playing live. Saw them at the end of May this year, and were wonderful. Disappointingly short set, though, as they'd opened for Symphony X. Haken's amazing drummer is Ray Hearne, who sings harmonies -- while playing -- during their shows. Every Haken song is a new surprise; you can take any song from their catalogue without any doubt. Their most hilarious masterpiece song and video is Cockroach King. What a pity you have just missed their US tour a few months ago. Glad that you've enjoyed the PT concert :-)

Glad you really liked this band! This is one of their heavier songs. Being a progressive band they are all over the place as far as compositions. If you react to “Cockroach King” or “1985” you’ll see what I mean. They are from England and I believe their first album came out in 2010. One of their biggest influences is a band called Gentle Giant which is very present in the song “Crystallized”. I hope you go down this rabbit hole! They are an amazing band! I was lucky enough to meet the singer, Ross Jennings, on the cruise. Very laid back guy and from what I’ve seen of the band they are all laid back and very humble which speaks volumes to me!

Agree with the GG connection. Henshall's favourite GG album is 'Three Friends' (as noted in an interview somewhere on the web), and there's a video somewhere on YT of Haken doing a smoking cover of 'Peel the Paint', with special guest Jordan Rudess.

Glad you saw Haken paying homage to GG (who were/are one of my favorite bands, and was lucky enough to see twice before they disbanded). It's great to see GG receive the attention they deserve, albeit belatedly.

@@AnguaP I love GG as well. That’s awesome you got to see them! I’ve only seen a few YT videos of them. I borrowed “Acquiring the taste” from a band mate in the early 90’s and love all of it!! They are just amazing musicians!

@@AnguaP I missed Haken playing “Two Weeks in Spain” on the cruise which was a big bummer. But I have seen it since and it was a great performance. If you look up cruise to the edge 2022 poolside Haken you can check it out. It’s the third song in at about 11 minutes

Haken is from UK, formed in 2007. Had tickets to see them in Hungary last February but that got cancelled. One of my favorite bands. If you dig in to them though be prepared for anything which I don’t mind but some of the circus music or weird electronic stuff turns some people off. Not me. This one is one of their more heavier and straightforward tracks.
