Thank you for this reaction, I really enjoyed your analysis and comments. Hua Chenyu really is an amazing artist who has an incredible range of styles and techniques. He was actually 28 when that show was recorded in 2018 and there are some amazing performances on the singer show, although most of them are covers (due to the show format) but I'd recommend Qi Tian which was his own composition. He also performed in singer 2020 this time he mostly performed his own compositions. Some stand-out songs of his own composition from Singer 2020 are Madhouse, Seven Personalities, Bullfighting, and Jackdaw Boy. He released his 5th studio album this year which is a masterpiece in my opinion and has been touring throughout most of the year selling out shows of between 50,000-90,000 seats in seconds. Hua Chenyu throws himself into every song he sings and emotionally tailors his performance in a way I have never seen any other artist do before, he is quite introverted off stage, but a powerhouse on stage but the camera loves him and he has a really quirky personality that shines too. @@mcflyjp He debuted in 2013. Singer was a great project where professional artists took part. Unfortunately, they have closed the project because TV ratings doesn't reflect quality on which Hunan TV didn't want to compromise.

Thank you so much for reacting to Hua Chenyu, HuaHua for his fans, my favorite artist. He's one of the top composer/musician/performer in China at the moment. He can do rock, rap, ballads, operatic pieces, you never know what you're going to get with him and he's the ultimate performer, never failing at conveying his emotions. He writes most of his songs to be sung with his audience, whether the chorus or the whole song with him, so much so that when he wants to sing alone, he says "I hope you can listen quietly" 😆His concerts are so fun and interactive, very unique. The video you reacted to is from a side fan channel specially made for subbing his Singer 2018 performances that are regularly striked for copyright, the main fan channel who are subbing all his performances is Hua Chenyu English Subs channel, you can find all his videos there from his concerts and variety shows. I've been to his Wuhan and Beijing concerts (Beijing: 2 nights, 90K seats per night) this year, and I'm flying from France to his Guangzhou Mars Concert in a few hours, can't wait, YAY! Thank you for your reaction to the most unique creative composer/performer. Hope you continue to discover his wide range of versatile styles. As one that is bold in breaking the mold of music for some he is not understood. For me he is more artist performer. He draws you into the story he wants to convey with his mesmerizing stage performances. It can be from one extreme to another. Never have I followed an artist like this one. He is a rare gem in the music field that breaks the rules in many ways.

Aloha! Dimash and HuaHua are my top two musical wizards that I crave on a daily basis! Of course, no one can touch Dimash with all the things he can do with his voice and with the ease that only he is able. He is like the choir, band and special sound effects; rolled into one tall body! But there is something equally captivating about HuaHua that is unmatched as well; he captures you with his theatrical commands of the stage. I noticed with Dimash and HuaHua, they both have the crowd engaged during their concerts. Like I mentioned; both are musical geniuses!

Thank you for a great reaction. The original song by Jay Chou is a rap classic in Mandopop - which was how I fell into the rabbit hole with this song in 2018. I was just so impressed with his vocals and most importantly, with how he re-arranged this song, that I avidly followed The Singer 2018 to watch his performances. Hua’s covers just added a complexity and beauty which made me forget what the original songs sounded like.

He is incredibly good. Creative, talented and vulnerable, and he lets us in to that emotional part of him. Watch some of his interviews and you will understand his difficult childhood and the effect it has on his life. He is wonderful. (The falsetto part in this is Peking Opera)

I found Hua Hua nearly 4 years ago and I am listening to his music every day since then. Before I was so bored of all the mainstream music stuff which is played on the radio that I completely stopped listening to music. I am so happy I found him and his music. Every song is different. His Mars concerts are 😮🤯. I flew from Germany to China this year to experience it live and it was the best concert I have ever been too. Looking forward to more Hua Chenyu on your channel. Maybe some of his own compositions next. Qi Tian, Madhouse, Illusion and Reality, 7 Personalities, Flower in the small town, I don't care ... and so much more. 😊 I saw you also did Ren reactions. ​​@@mcflyjpYes, but it is more than that. If you are looking for "multiple genre" songs 7 Personalities or Illusion and Reality might be interesting for you. Both are none mainstream songs but amazing in my opinion. Also Qi Tian and Bullfighting ( Maybe more mainstream) are awesome. He is not always mixing genres in one song. Some of his songs are so different from each other if you didn't know you might not think it is the same artist. I love that. You never know what you will get if you click on a Hua Chenyu video for the first time but it is always amazing. 🤩

​@@mcflyjpHua in an interview once mentioned he used to care about defining musical genres back in college, but now he thinks all decisions should be made to serve the purpose of delivering the message/concept or evoke the emotion one needs/wants to convey, doesn't matter what genre it is.

I love how you were able to put my feelings into words when listening to this song. I had become very disillusioned with the music playing on mainstream media for a number of years. So formulaic. And the last concert I went to was Radiohead! However, since discovering Huahua, my love for music has returned and I’m enjoying going down the rabbit hole. The pleasure and enjoyment through discovering new music has improved my life by opening up my mind to new experiences and ideas. Hua sings such a variety of different genres, and you never know what you will get. I now even love rap!. And I'm also listening to a variety of different singers and their music whom I have found out about through watching Huahua: Charlie Zhou, Zhang Yixing (Lay Zhang), Charlie Zhou, Dimash, Tengri, KZ Tandingan, Misia, Eivør Pálsdóttir, etc. I would first watch Fake Monk at "Quality Eng Subs The Fake Monk- Hua Chenyu + Interview Singer 2018". Cut and paste this into KZbin. It starts off with an interview with Hua, talking about his upbringing, then at 2.30 minutes leads into the video. Hua has said: "I still believe that I should just write about whatever comes into my mind. Some people think that singers should compose music that caters to the likings of their fans. But I’ve always believed that, when composing music, it’s best if I share my own world with them. This is the best way for communication. Take for example, when I’m talking to a friend, then, if I want to befriend this person I must tell him about my thoughts so he’ll get to know me and I will keep on asking him questions. I want to learn more about him. So, I think the same goes with my fans. Through my compositions, my music, a bridge is built between my fans and I. We have built a connection by way of music. So music is my only way of conveying the recent imageries in my mind, my thoughts, the way I express my love towards the entire world, and love in everyday life or self-love in my spiritual world. I will share these with them." He also once said that he views his singing as just another instrument in a musical composition. He feels that singing is not about the singer but the singer's role is to complete a song. His vocals fills a void that all the other musical instruments cannot express ... which kind of explains why he seems to focus only on musical composition and not lyrics. So when Hua sings, either his own composition or one he has rearranged, he immerses himself in the song. It can take him some time after the song has finished to connect with his audience again. He does not write the lyrics, but works with the lyricist to help convey the emotions he wants in each song. Best wishes from New Zealand.

This is a great reaction to my very favorite musician. I've liked and subscribed so I can follow you on your Hua Hua journey. It's an amazing trip!! I'm also a big fan of Purdy, Kittle, Warner and Company! Love the shirt! I'll miss Sunday's game against the Eagles only because I'll be in China attending Hua Chenyu's concert! It will be my third trip to China is the past six months just to see this amazing artist. Will have to watch the replay of the Niner's game!

Hua Chenyu likes to play around with his voice and try to adapt his voice to express what he thinks the song should express. He has a lot of other good performances on Singer 2018 and Singer 2020. Some of his newer stuff is showcased at his amazing concerts. From 2018 I recommend "Qi Tien", "Child", "I Don't Care" and "Fake Monk" amongst others. Nice reaction, I like the pureness in Hua Chen Yu’s voice at the beginning of the track. I also loved the rock that followed. His voice is fantastic, but I have to be honest and say I was not keen on the change between the different styles of singing, as I would prefer to hear either the rock sound or the more classic singing with vibrato and not a mash up of both. I prefer his falsetto voice. McFly sorry to hear you have not been feeling well, glad you are a bit better now. Take care.

Totally fair. I think many people like for a theme to be established and stick with it. For me as a musician, I like songs that venture into different "stories" or atmospheres for lack of a better term. It gives the songs character and allows for different, and creative things to happen. And thank you so much for the kind words. End of the year is always stressful.
