For the folks who didn't follow this battle in real-time, Ice Cube used to write all of Eazy-E's lyrics when he was in NWA. Cube wasn't getting paid so he left and started his own label, hooked up with Public Enemy and they hooked him up with production. In 1990 NWA released a whole album that was mostly full of Ice Cube disses (100 Miles & Running). In 1991, Cube released "Death Certificate"; this was the only song that directly referenced NWA on the whole album. He even starts it with "I think I forgot something...", like one of the greatest diss tracks ever was an afterthought LOFL.

when ice cube left nwa, they were all bitter for many reasons, 1) because they were all homies, grew up together, they thought it was an act of disrespect to leave when they were finally making money, but ice cube knew Jerry was ripping them off, and Easy was simply all about the money. Cube was literally writing almost all the lyrics to all the songs for every person in the group, with exception to Ren who wrote alot of his own lyrics. 2) Cube knew and tried to tell them multiple times they were being shit on by Management, but again, Easy was all about that money and didnt wanna hear it. 3) this is when the insults started to fly in songs, Easy and them started it by calling out Ice Cube on multiple songs. they shouldnt have done that because Cube went HAMSANDWICH on their asses, completely destroying them in this song. all that being said, after Easy died it kinda brought them back together as friends, and im very glad today they are all cool and its all the past.........NWA is the greatest rap group ever assembled in my opinion.

Even this old white man knows that Cube was straight fire. Hell, his music taught me things I would never see where I grew up. More importantly, it taught me that no matter what I learned, I couldn't truly know unless I lived that life. Mostly tho, my first appreciation of rap mostly came from three guys that this channel knows as actors... Ice Cube, Ice T, and LL Cool J. (That door got opened when I first heard Beastie Boys and went looking for more rap music.) Cube was perfect at the time because I was a teenager learning drums, and his music was heavy on drums with a "don't give a fuck" attitude. So it didn't matter if I knew everything he was talking about...it was the aggressive music I didn't know I needed.

Most of the NWA songs were written by Cube Ren and others. You can tell the difference in their songs writing styles. Easy was never a rapper and generally used Cube's lyrics. As a group it was about success of the group in the beginning. Cube Dre Ren Easy all played crucial roles in the success of NWA glad to have lived through it!

Classic one of the greatest disses. Em, Pac, Nas got better but this was a trend setter. Yall need to do Em - Campaign Speech or Kickoff Freestyle

Idk sir. Imo this is the best diss ever. "Livin with the whites" kills me to this day.

it's amazing almost every line is a reference to NWA songs, quotes, or events that happened. All while being the coldest takedown ever. Ice Cube fell the hell off once he started seeking out radio play but nobody can touch him in this era.
