True story: for the last Iron Maiden concert in Chile (last October), tickets were sold out literally one year previous to the show. Then they opened a second show and tickets sold out in around one week. That's how much we Chileans love Iron Maiden, and they know it 🤘🏽 their concerts are epic, and have a kind of energy too difficult to explain

They're all in their 60's now & still doing gigs like this today!!, truly the best metal.band ever or ever will be!. The Trooper is from the "Piece of Mind" album from 1983 & is about the charge of the light brigade at the Battle of Balaclava in the Crimean War between Britain & Russia. It was a light cavalry charge against Russian cannons in a valley basically, bit of a blood bath for us in the end unfortunately.

And Steve Harris, bass player, founder, main composer, mastermind, is a big fan of... Tuomas Holopainen... Another Fun Fact: Brittney Slayes of Unleash the Archers counts her major influences as the lead singer of Lost Horizon, but more important, Bruce Dickinson -- for her singing style, and her stage style. Only thing she doesn't do that Dickinson did is get into the whole "flying through the air" vibe Bruce has while performing -- she says that she's scared of heights, lol. But Unleash the Archers definitely is the band to carry on Maiden's "legacy" when these awesome guys finally retire.

The song is about "the charge of the light brigade"...a true historical battle, from the Crimea war...(1850s)..a British cavalry regiment consisting of 600 horse, and troopers (the light brigade)..charging a well dug in Russian redoubt...many cannons and heavy infantry...it was a suicidal charge..but has gone down in history, as a glorious and heroic act of duty and bravery!!

One comment to add a bit of needed context to what others are saying: No radio play, no MTV, no nothing in terms of the type of commercial promotion enjoyed by every single band in rock history that could ever fill a stadium like this one. Except Maiden. All word of mouth, organic growth. They never caved for the easy money, to the credit of their founder and bassist Steve Harris.

It makes me feel really old to see a rock guy who barely heard Maiden. Oh shit. I love music everywhere and from all times, but there has never been anything like Iron Maiden. They are a bit old here, not the same they were, but look at the energy they still display at their age. I have seen a lot of metal bands, from classic legends like Judas Priest to Manowar, to some of the more new and experimental. No one is even close to what Iron Maiden was able to achieve in a live show at their prime. Iron Maiden is the Heavy Metal.

Nicko McBrain (the drummer) loves to have all kinds of different sounds, even if it's just in case he decides to go for a different sound during a song and above all: his style is just using all the pieces of the kit and that makes it a unique sound as well. Steve Harris, the bass player, is the founder of the band and the guitarist on the left, Dave Murray is kind of the original guitarist. He was chosen to be the 3rd guitarist, but the other two left and they could do it without them. From that point on it started the become the Iron Maiden we know today (I'm reading a biography, so still fresh information :P ). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Maiden Thanks for reacting \m/
