IU is a special singer in South Korea, she's a bridge between kpop and more indie/ artistic part of k-music. She's also a bridge between fandoms and casual nusic fans/ general people. She has soooo many popular songs in S.Korea, but 2 most legendary are Good Day (2010) and this song Through The Night (2017). Through The Night is loved as "national lullaby" .... In short, IU is a S.Korean darling, and she's a complete package, as she's loved bcs of her character, beauty, vocal, and lyrics. thank you :)

IU is among the few artists who actually are better live… there are many live and concert versions of this, but MMA 2017 is unreal, paired with Dear Name, another classic… the performance is anchored by tribute to spirits of ferry disaster victims (to allay your confusion)

For korean idol, I only follow 3 out of hundreds or thousands of them. Soloist IU here who I always come to get soothing voice who comforts me most of the time, CNBLUE which a boy band where I come to hear some good voice and live version that always amaze me and give me an excitement. And MAMAMOO when I want a full vocal powers with great harmony to make me move.

if you want to see more of iu’s amazing vocals i’d highly recommend checking out some of her other ballad songs like my sea, dear name, love poem, winter sleep, etc. also you’re totally right that iu slays any genre of music. for instance her album modern times is very swing/jazz-influenced (some of my favs from that are “the red shoes,” “50cm,” “modern times”). some other iu songs that you might find interesting: jam jam, dlwlrma, the visitor, shoes, the shower tldr, iu’s discography is super diverse and full of gems!

This song is one of my favorite. The song is written by IU when she got sleeplessness issue. And you can feel how soft, light and warm when she sings this song. Yes, this song heals my insomnia , and also heal a lot of people's insomnia. This makes me to be her super fan.

You hit the nail on the head. She is insanely versatile. She is also an award winning actress.. one of the biggest humanitarians and an advanced police officer with promotions through her work finding lost or bullied children. Her first song was called ‘Lost Child’ she debut it at 15 year old (about 15 years ago) and it’s crazy good… everything she does is. Hotel Del Luna and My Mister both on Netflix and AMAZING. LEE JI EUN aka IU “BECAUSE MUSIC BRINGS I AND YOU TOGETHER” IU got knocked back soo many times because she isnt bubble gum pop. After ‘Lost Child’ her management went to a fortune teller and asked if they should drop IU. (Koreans are very superstitious.) They said… “ IU will become the nation’s favourite and when she does.. you must move!” (???) IU released ‘GOOD DAY’ that earned her the nickname “The nations little sister”. Her company packed up and moved… Shortly after that, their old business was destroyed by a landslide. Another fortune teller famously predicted and renamed a little Thai girl named Pranpriya Manobal now known worldwide as Lalisa Manobal (LALISA MEANING THE ONE WHO IS PRAISED) aka Lisa from BLACKPINK.

There come sometimes where you find yourself in a delicate situation when it comes to choose a favorite song; cause there are so many things that can bring up a song: the melody of course, the words, the rhythm, the structure, a solo, and so on. But sometimes we end up by having a choice that becomes the good one as we keep on listening to this song and soaking in it. It's like what you've always wanted for your life; you know it without knowing it, you've heard a voice without having heard it that has been telling you without having told you what will soothe to your soul; and you will not realize that until it happens. Music is something pure. I respect every song because there is a lot that has been going on in back ground inorder to make a song, so to speak. Music is one of the best way, if not the best,to express many things that people depend on, whether you like it or not; there are things you feel deep inside of you that can't be literally explained while talking... it's like the melody of an image, the perfume of a word, the expression of a silence, the power of the humility, and so on. But because of your love of music, a mere smile, but being at the same time overlaid with some virtue, like that of a kind hearted person, and a blushed face like that of a fascinated girl, can make everything comes clear in your head; and the rest can be history. Me, as a gospel and social song composer, when I take to composing a song I'm no black skin nor white skin; nationality is put aside, so is my profession inorder to be real; i mean the real me. Music has done me good. Thanks to God who is my inspiration, the music allow me to experience the meaning of true love. IU is absolutely the real deal. I've seen her have to sing in the cold at 6am to karaoke tracks of her own songs for some ridiculous candid camera thing, and she (carefully) slayed straight through like a boss, including crazy high long notes at the end (after a mod). She's totally schooled as well as naturally gifted, truly the whole package.

As such, she knows exactly what tone or inflection she's going for; what the story she's telling is; and how not to belabor it with going too big just to show she can. Love your reaction videos! Two more recommendations for you to review: "25" from the Pretty Reckless. (I absolutely love Taylor Momsen's voice. Something about it makes me think of a modern Joan Jett). They have a lot of great songs, and I like them even more than Halestorm, which you've already reviewed and enjoyed. "Scarborough Fair" as done by Colm McGuinness. He just released it. His Irish lilt is delightful, and he has some AMAZING power and vocal range to him. As a bonus, he generally plays all the instruments in his videos too. Anyway, I've wanted to recommend these two artists to you for a while now.
