I was cutting it a bit fine for my flight, ran into the toilets, and ran out. John Farnham was running in. I knocked John for a six. We both laughed, and apologised. John was on my flight, so I visited his seat to apologise further. He kicked his manager (the great Glen Wheatly) out of his seat and asked me to join him and chat. I wasn't going to his show (Carols By Candlelight), so he gave me VIP area tickets. A true gentleman, and a phenomenal singer.

John is by far the most loved artist Australia has ever had. He appeals to every generation because he sings just about every single genre of music, he has a voice that most artists could only dream of, his concerts are a work of art and he sings live even better than he does on his albums, and to top it off he is the most humble and loveable larrikan ...who always takes the time to showcase every member of his band, crack a joke or 10 or pull a prank. Not to mention he has had a career spanning 7 decades from the 1960's (while he was still a teenager) right up till the 2020's (in his 70's) with number one hits in 6 consecutive decades. He is the most awarded pop/rock star in the country. And one of his albums from the 80's is still listed as the highest selling Album ever in this country. He even had a stint from 82 to 86 with The Little River Band as their lead singer. But he is more of a solo artist at heart. I have subbed in the hopes you will react to many more from John. Check out his most famous song You're the Voice. Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. You may have even heard this song as it was also huge in the UK and Europe ❤❤

So you've discovered the very deep bunny burrow that is John Farnham. Be careful - you may never get out, but there are worse fates. John is an Australian treasure with a career spanning over 60 years. He is also an extraordinary person, humble and grateful and always ready to use his considerable clout to organise a huge fundraising concert for the too many natural disasters here in Oz. In 2022 he was diagnosed with mouth cancer and had radical surgery to remove his jaw. His recovery has been quite the journey, but he is back to singing around the house, and no one puts it past him to make a comeback at age 74. From the same concert, which I had the privilege to see, you're spoilt for choice as every song is a gem. But a good place to start is "You're the Voice", the song that gave him the moniker The Voice. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ6VnpJvis6dqdEsi=VWq4DsdUWF0_bztJ

Yes! Get the one from the same concert. If you do, watch for the mic-stand toss about three or four minutes in. Have to watch carefully because it's shot from behind, then they cut back to front-on for the catch. A couple of minutes later he tosses it across the stage, sings on for a while, then casually wanders over and does a foot-flip to catch it again. His mic-stand antics were as legendary as his voice. Not to mention his ability to turn his talent to everything from opera, through ballads and musicals, to hard rock. He truly is the GOAT.

I was born overseas, growing up on ' Schlagermusik' and of course traditional folk music. We had some very good singers, also from France, Netherlands and other European countries, also through my older brother listened to a lot of English and American bands and singers in the sixties. I was and still am a big fan of the BeeGees, who lived for about a decade in Australia, the sister still lives here. After moving to live in Australia, I fell in love with the Australian music scene, loved Cold Chisel. Anyway there is a lot of talent here in Australia, should I mention AC/DC, Inxs? I believe, a lot of Australian singers and bands travelled the country before their fame, and performed in front of club and pub audiences. They would soon tell them if they didn't like something. I believe, this had an imprint on the musicians, most are also quite down to earth and humble. I love how they all come together, when we have disasters like fires, floods, cyclones and give to victim funds. John Farnham has a great vocal range, very powerful voice.

Not only is his voice something unique and beautiful, he is an excellent example of professionalism. He raises up younger musicians whenever he can. When he sings with other artist's it is clear how much fun he's having and the facial expression I often see is of a person who can't believe his good fortune that they've agreed to perform with him. He treats everyone as equals. We love the person just as much as The Voice.

Thanks for the reaction. 💞Glad to hear you are going to do more Farnham. You've got 6 decades of experience to investigate. He is an ICON in the Australian Music Industry. This performance is one of the encores at the end of a 2+ hour concert 1986. a John Lennon number "Help", but John F's version (JL heard it before he passed and said that was the way the song was meant to sound). Anything from that "Classic Jack Live" with MSO concert is "gold". His hit from the Whispering Jack Album, (which held the No. 1 position for a total of 25 weeks), "You're the Voice" went to No. 1 and has become an unofficial National Anthem, , and always keep an eye out for his "mic & stand" tricks, kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ6VnpJvis6dqdE ). John is one of the most versatile vocalists you can find, he can sing just about any genre. John Farnham started in 1967 and was still performing into his 70s until Covid shut the country down. He won "King of Pop" 5 consecutive years 69 -73, then faded a bit in the late 70s (due to poor management). John is the only Australian artist to have a number-one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. . He has received the admiration of many international artists, such as Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Tom Jones, Freddie Mercury. Brian May, Sammy Davis Jnr, Ray Charles, just to name a few. I'll drop a few links to give you a taste and warn you if you start reacting to John, the Aussie Army will flood your channel. John Peter Farnham AO is a British-born Australian singer. Farnham was a teen pop idol from 1967 until 1979, billed until then as Johnny Farnham. He has since forged a career as an Adult contemporary singer. He was previously the lead singer for The Little River Band and recently had major surgery for removal of a tumour. Farnham spent his first ten years in the United Kingdom before his family immigrated to Australia in 1959 which is the same year that the Bee Gees also immigrated to Australia. The Farnham family lived in Melbourne, the Gibb Family (Bee Gees) first settled in Redcliffe, Queensland.

I am from the US & my mum loved the band he was in, Little River Band, before he went solo. Going back many yearss. But then I moved to Australia & loved him as a solo singer. His voice has people across a few generations that adore him and he truly is the voice. My fav songs of his are 'You're the Voice' and 'I Burn for You.'

Here is a cut and paste about John, and his friends Olivia Newton John (ONJ), Jimmy Barnes, Anthony Warlow. You might like to check out the YT reactions in the Australian Playlist for HELP and others on THE THAMESMEN YT channel. Started in 1967 with SADIE THE CLEANING LADY kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4vIg6Cmq6ide9k and went on from there. Close friend of Olivia Newton John who he worked with in Australia from time to time. When she died, he cried all day. This is a great one from the concert with the *Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (M.S.O.)*: IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP IF YOU WANT TO ROCK N ROLL kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWS7kK2Vr7xnick Also same concert: YOU’RE THE VOICE with M.S.O. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ6VnpJvis6dqdE Also same concert: HELP (Beatles) with M.S.O. (version you never heard before):- kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqeYZZqfhLiFgdU Original Beatles version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aILCi614fLWXp6c Also sang DARE TO DREAM from Sydney 2000 Olympic Opening Ceremony with ONJ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKisl6CJYrWgog (note you may need to alter a VPN setting to Australia to see that). This is good too - the 2.5 hr concert with ONJ and our Phantom, from *Phantom of the Opera* (Anthony Warlow):- THE MAIN EVENT kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5WQhoaHecpsmsk Another good one with Jimmy Barnes WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY BABY (concert version with Diesel (Jimmy’s brother in law and formerly from the US) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4bCk3aZnamKfJY Same song, studio version in restaurant with Diesel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5nWl6tngdqigcU GETHSEMANE from *Jesus Christ Superstar*: (reaction video) kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2qXXqqHirFnjq8 John Farnham & The Sydney Symphony Orchestra - Live At The Sydney Opera House (2006) 1 hour 49 mins kzbin.info/www/bejne/q57ZeoKHmMamnJo The statistics of the CLASSIC JACK LIVE concert in 1989 are all on this: www.discogs.com/release/6714435-John-Farnham-Melbourne-Symphony-Orchestra-Classic-Jack-Live If you really like this concert, you can purchase it still on DVD or CD. It is the CLASSIC JACK LIVE concert. It may be available in your country but in Australia it is on www.sanity.com.au, ebay.com.au, or Amazon.com.au. *FINDING THE VOICE trailer*: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqDGdJmZarV-qKc His biography is a movie about to appear in the Australian cinemas. I saw it on 14th May at a special screening. You can purchase the CD and DVD via www.sanity.com.au Olivia features in the movie and admits John is her favourite singer of all time. In the biography movie they show him singing YOU’RE THE VOICE in front of 100,000 screaming fans in West Germany just before the Berlin Wall was brought down. He is now 74 years old, and sadly went through a 12 hour operation for throat cancer losing part of his jaw back about the same time his dear friend Olivia died in August 2022. He lost Liv and his best mate, his manager Glen Wheatley to ‘COVID’ (LOL, if only they knew) within that time frame of a few months. Glen was 74 too. He used to be a guitarist in Master’s Apprentices. Pic of Glenn and his actress wife Gaynor - resources2.news.com.au/images/2008/05/19/va1237308441554/Glenn-Wheatley-6045629.jpg Pic of John and Glen - they were like brothers - images.perthnow.com.au/publication/C-5529301/5a7e8b99b65d133ff7a7207862d60d13f8f7e02f-16x9-x0y119w1800h1013.jpg?imwidth=1200 *A bit on John (Australia’s former King of Pop)* - Born in the UK in 1949, came out when 10 to Melbourne Victoria, Australia. It’s the same sort of history as Olivia Newton John, who was born in the UK in 1948 and came out when 5 to Melbourne. Both worked in the industry in Melbourne in the 1960's and eventually Olivia ended up back in the UK and then the US. John became the King of Pop with the 1967 hit ‘Sadie the Cleaning Lady.’ He was in the LITTLE RIVER BAND. John had his chances to work in the US but wanted to live in Australia. Queen wanted him to replace Freddie Mercury, but he declined. www.smh.com.au/entertainment/john-farnham-asked-to-join-queen-report-20030804-gdh7j9.html *Jimmy Barnes (Australia’s former King of Rock)* was born April, 28 1956 in Glasgow, Scotland. His original name was 'James Dixon Swan' and his father was a featherweight boxing champion in Glasgow. In 1961/62 his family moved to Australia. After playing in a school band (he replaced Bon Scott (who joined AC/DC) as lead vocalist in the band Fraternity. Then, aged 16 and a half, he joined Cold Chisel in 1973. First they played the pubs of Adelaide, then they played the pubs of Australia and finally they got a record contract in 1976. Now, Cold Chisel are Australian history - one of the best bands Australia ever had. They split up in 1983 because they thought they weren't playing good music anymore and they didn't want to rip their fans off with another album. Here's another jam with Jimmy Barnes and the late Michael Hutchence INXS 'Good Times' Live kzbin.info/www/bejne/iprQqX-FjJ5laNE

Not quite sure he expected the fantastic reaction from that crowd......💕💕💕💕

What can i say...he is ours. I met John in Canberra City around 1972. They had a yearly Battle of the Bands at the Show ground's. I think John was buskin at that time at night, my friends and I sat down and talked and listen to his music. I thought then he would make it big, but it took his time..kind soft spoken gentleman.

He is SUCH an Aussie legend we do all love him. He is an incredibly musical and had an absolutely fantastic voice, but above all, he was a master manipulator with the crowd. The complete Charismatic Showman. He always had us eating out of his hand. There’s plenty of film footage at concerts over the years where he is taking bouquets off people in the audience. And at the same time - belting & I mean ear splittingly BELTING out a number with a diaphragm folded in half. Seriously 🤷‍♀️how do you do that? There was no trickery. It was all live. No auto tune no pitch correct, totally live. The man was the best thing we ever had and we ALL took him for granted. We loved him, he was ours, but I don’t think we really realised what an international worthy talent he was.
