Ok... sooo... there are a lot of folks that are die hard Judas Priest folk. Not me. Couldn't stand em'. Not my cup-o-tea... as they say. However, they are a classic, popular hard rock band from back in duh day..... and I'm 48. (Oh man, did I just say that?) How bout' you guys do some 90's stuff like... oh..I dunno.. maybe some "Dead and Bloated " by Stone Temple Pilots... or some... "Fist full of steel " from Rage Against the Machine. Thanks! God Bless.

Just saw the Priest again a couple of months ago, and they sounded just as good or better than they have sounded in decades. I’m not sure what age has to do with love of, or type of music. I’m 45 and next year Judas Priest will celebrate 50 years.

You SOB! I missed Painkiller. In Art class this kid was all exhausted looking. I was like...what's up? Why so tired? He said he was at a concert. I asked who? He said JP. My eyes lit up. I was so stoked to find a JP fan. I remember when I bought painkiller. It was so different from Ram it Down and Turbo. So different from any other of their albums. Pure Awesomeness!

Judas Priest is such an awesome band, however, as great as this song is, it is far heavier than 90% of there other songs, and sounds nothing like their classics. I would suggest ANYTHING from them out of the 70's. (They have been around FOREVER!)

@@louielouie22 I became a JP fan young. My older sister (7 years older) started to listen to them as a teen. So I was introduced to them around Screaming For Vengeance. So listened forward until my late teens when I started to by their older CDs. Every album was dope and progressively becoming more metal! Then and Sabbath basically defined Metal. Priest defined the look! Leather Rebels that are Hell Bent for Leather! Haha

Frontman Rob Halford told Kerrang! magazine May 25, 2013 that this is the song he's most proud to have written. He explained: "I think it's a wonderful statement. It embodies what metal is - it's everything a full-on screamy metal track should have. Everybody is going a million miles an hour on it, and yet the melody still comes across. That statement that 'He is the Painkiller' - you get 30,000 metalheads chanting it at a festival and it's a great feeling. It's become a very important song for Priest, and for metal too, I think."

Judas Priest were always aware of trends. And unlike Iron Maiden, who never really changed, Priest always tried to move with the wave of the times. This album was them responding to the rise of thrash metal. So that's why 'Painkiller' is so damn heavy and intense, where just a few years earlier they were doing soft glam rock nonsense like 'Turbo'. 'Touch of Evil' is the other classic from this album. A slower, more weighty song about religious brainwashing.

Concerning your comment about seeing a concert in the tri state area. As far back as my memory takes me to 2-3yrs old I liked Kiss cause of my older brother. As I got older I never cared for them but they are retiring and this is their farewell tour. I’m going to see them this Wednesday night at the Prudential Center in Newark NJ because it’s my last opportunity to see them and I never did but I hear they put on a great show. There are still seats left. The next in in my area is in Brooklyn at the Barclays center August 20th I think. They might not be the best band but they put on a great show & will most likely be remembered for their shows. If you have the opportunity go see Kiss. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. This tour ends the end of September.
