1990 was a TERIFFIC year for metal. This album, Megadeth - Rust In Peace, Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss, Pantera - Cowboys From Hell, Anthrax - Persistence of Time, Queensryche - Empire, Testament - Souls of Black, etc. SO many great ones came out in that year.

Priest are the metal gods, this album is pure metal bliss. Rob Halford is one of the best heavy metal singers of all time, hands down. You need to check out a live performance, like the Sentinel 86 Fuel for Life tour. Another thing coming or Hell Bent for leather usually is the last song of the night.

Take my word for it, none of you "dislike" Rob Halford's voice, you just don't care for this particular Halford style (at least not yet - it may grow on you). He's a multitalented vocalist with a lot of capabilities. Undoubtedly, you'd like a lot of what he's done in his 50 year career.

People must realize that Priest started what metal would really become after Black Sabbath and their 70s albums are hauntingly good. The best I've ever heard on metal vocals to this day was when Priest did live version of devil's child in 1982. They finally put that song as a bonus track on the anniversary album release. He starts out just warming up during the first part of the song and by the time he's going into the chorus the 2nd time, his voice to this day shows why he's the metal god

We were there for ' PRIEST !!!!!!!!!!. . Everybody was pumped and smoked up . Ready for PRIEST !!!!!!! ,, but we knew we had to sit through some band . We Want Priest !!! .. This other band came on and nobody was standing , Bored !! .. We wanted Priest !! . ..That other band came on and started playing " Yawn " .. 10 seconds in " Who the fuck is this band ??" .. Iron Maiden ?? Who is Iron Maiden ? . The place went nuts .. . By the end of their set .. Wasn't sure if we wanted to see Priest .. We wanted IRON MAIDEN !!!

Rob Halford is a vocal chameleon. He (and Priest) have changed constantly in every aspect for around 50 years. A lot of bands find their rut and stay in that lane for their whole career. Not so Judas Priest. These guys were constantly changing and constantly evolving and every album sounds differently. You never know from which angle they'd be coming at you next. And yet they remain recognizable as Judas Priest. That's no mean feat They were one of the fathers of metal, they've influenced metal culture and still are going strong. Their latest album came out in 2018 and was the metal album of the year to many. The rabbit hole is deep...
@XA351GT3 жыл бұрын
Very true if anyone tracks their entire history album by album they all vary from the previous release even if it's very slight. Some are bigger jumps than others. I like to take one track from each album in their order of release to show the progression from start to now. Priest is one of the few that could evolve their sound without losing their older fans.

If you like variety you'll love Priest. You can find anything from bluesy stuff over glam and disco influenced songs to thrashy and even nu metal inspired albums. Ballads, groovy stuff, stadium hymns, prog rock, Queenish harmonizing, you name it, you'll find it in their catalogue. Even a friend of mine likes some Priest songs although she's more into really mellow stuff and the "hardest" band she listens to is Pink Floyd

Welcome to theatrical metal at least that's what I call it because Rob Halford had a Alto soprano voice sang Opera as a child in between him and Boy George they were the two biggest faces in England speaking out for gay people at that time one of the things I respect about both artists is that they weren't shy about it either and they were gay when it wasn't cool to be gay so I respect those men wholeheartedly especially Boy George I mean he took so much animosity and hate from people just for coming out and saying he was gay and being proud that he was good he wasn't pushing his beliefs on anybody he was just stating that he personally was gay and he got excoriated in almost shunned out of society for it but he kept producing great music and they couldn't cancel him! John Lydon AKA Johnny Rotten from The Sex Pistols he was another one that was almost shunned out of society because he supported gay rights in England but he was always outspoken that's one of the things I always respected about him he was never afraid to speak his mind and he wasn't going to allow anybody to stop him same with the other two guys Boy George and Rob Alford they weren't going to be denied they were going to tell you how they felt and they didn't give a damn if you care or not! I respect that a lot more than someone being fake to my face!

WHAAAAAAT? You're not a fan of Bruce Dickinson ? When you said you didn't like the singing of Maiden or Priest really? This song I can understand the vocals being off putting to those who don't know of Rob's complete range. The vocals here almost always stay in in higher range , but his vocals on other songs cover like 4 octaves in range. This song was released to introduce a new drummer and to signal to fans a return to form after what some considered a step back with the 2 previous more poppy albums . It also was a signal that these old dogs could keep up with Thrash that was dominating the metal scene at the time.
