Kansas was something all their own. Loved them. I just love that your generation is listening and giving the music my generation listened to a chance. There are so many groups from then, unique and great I hope you enjoy and find more out there you like. So far I like what you have been reacting to, and your reactions are so genuine. Love your smiling faces and reactions to all the older music.

Late 60's to early 80s it just does not get any better and I doubt it ever will. Listening to the very same radio station you might hear this Kansas song and then Alice Cooper the next and then the Carpenters, The Beatles, AC DC, Molly Hatchet. It was just a never-ending mix of different creative genres most of which were outstanding! I think of all the music from that era that is almost lost to time from this generation like Atlanta Rhythm Section, Rare Earth, The Outlaws, Brownsville Station, Pure Prairie League, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, the older J geils Band. The list just goes on and on of bands that are almost forgotten.

Everytime I hear this song I start looking for "the road so far" from Supernatural...lol So miss that show!! But this is a great song. My mom raised me on classic rock and I have such a love for music because of her! Sad to say that now the music I listened to in my teen years is now on the classic rock station...well they've been there for a few years now. One thing I've learned from getting older is I'm more like my mom then I thought, she use to say my music wasn't any good and now I feel that way...lol I only had to say that to my youngest son (rap) because my oldest son listened to rock/metal music like me and my mom(she just didn't like the "rock" I listened to. She said that none of the music I listened to would last. She honestly said that Metallica would never be like the Stones, they couldn't last that long...sadly she passed before I could say look at the music you said wouldn't last!!

ah, you sound enthusiastic, but to compare Kansas to Pink Floyd, or the Who is a stretch. Pink Floyd has been expanding human consciousness for over 50 years. The Who is in a league of their own. This is another classic that’s been a top song since they wrote it. Back in the day, this was constantly on the radio. Some of the songs you are finding out about now were played over and over on the radio. There were about 50 or so songs that you could guarantee you would hear on the radio at any given time. Leave the radio on for a while and one of them would ALWAYS come up. That’s how it was for YEARS.

I want to say it was Geffen that signed them (correct me if I'm wrong) & he took a chance on them because they were great, but he had a love for the fiddle player. He thought he just made the band better.

As others have said Dust in the Wind is the next place to go and was their other megahit but other great songs of theirs include Point of No Return, Miracles Out of Nowhere and People of the South Wind.

Child of the 70's here now 56 yrs old. I can tell you I still sing this song at the top of my lungs when driving. Defiantly a stone groove and it's funny every time you think the song was going to end, they bust out yet another guitar solo. hahaha

A time when so much great music like this was coming out continually we just expected it to last forever. Thankfully we still have it to fill our days and night now when music no longer resembles what it once was.

After they split up, I heard some of the members formed Christian bands. You could sorta tell several were Christians by their lyrics - think of Dust in the Wind. Love them, love the harmony.

I wanted to let them know that that song was recorded in my hometown of Bogalusa Louisiana about 2 miles from my home. I heard that song IN the studio right before it was released on a class field trip. They recorded 2 albums here including Leftoverture and Masqe before that. Knowing these 2 live in N.O. which is an hour drive from here. Met song writer of the song Kerry Livgren at the poolside of the hotel they stayed at as well. This was right before their careers took off, obviously! ❤😊😊

That's the wonderful think about "prog rock" from this era. Although you can note the influences of the various bands, there's never any confusion as to who you're listening to. Genesis doesn't sound like Yes doesn't sound like Kansas doesn't sound like Rush doesn't sound like Pink Floyd, even though they all share a genre whose primary theme is uniqueness of sound.

And if you know what I am talking about and how it’s related to this song please give me a thumbs up. Have you ever react to the Japanese band name Scandal? If not you should check this band out. Also check out Lovebites and Band-maid too!

One of the very best debut albums by any rock group ever. In my opinion one of the 10 best songs of the 70's. My first album I ever bought with my money and actually walked two miles to the record store to only buy this then RAN home and played it for hrs. none stop.
