KARD has a huge Latin American following. You can hear the latin influence in a lot of their music (especially their earlier stuff) and they also like to incorporate Spanish into their lyrics, like in their songs "Red Moon" and "Dímelo". It's really cool. But they also have hard hitting songs like "Gunshot" and "Dumb Litty". They're such a fun group. Major sibling vibes between the members. They like to get on each other's nerves 😂

One reason why I think Kard is one of very few co-ed groups in the Kpop industry is because co-ed groups and duos are harder to manage when it comes to Idol culture. The Kpop industry is designed to make it so that Kpop Idols are held to a higher standard and they are meant to be seen as if they are devoted to their fans, are pure, perfect and flawless at all times. (As dumb as it seems, I think it's harder for people to picture a co-ed group not being in situations where they are unable to adhere to that modest and pure standard.) Plus, it's just fundamentally more difficult because of living situations and management issues, as well as choreography styles and group dynamics, etc. When you have mixed groups you run into issues of dating rumors and situations where people may feel less connected to the members because it changes the dynamic of what is traditionally thought of as the Kpop standard. For example, Kard member BM, who is Korean-American from L.A., often talks about how they have really had to struggle to quelch dating rumors to convince people that there are no romantic relationships in their group and that they are all just friends. Kard debuted in 2016, which makes them part of the third generation. Third generation idols are from an era where the Kpop industry sort of insulated idols and made it appear as if they never interact with anyone of the opposite sex. If you notice, most of the time whenever pretty much any third generation group or artist is around someone of the opposite sex, we hardly ever see the other person's face or see them interacting together. Third generation was when the Kpop industry decided to take the Idol image up to the next level and make it appear as if the idols were solely devoted to their fans and that they never have any outside distractions. Kard is a rare exception to the rule. However, it makes it so they are far less popular in Korea than they are internationally. Kard has a pretty large international following, especially in Latin American countries and communities, and the have a large hispanic fanbase. The members even speak some spanish and they have several songs with spanish lyrics. They are known for their latin sound and feel of many of their songs.

A lot of the time they don't put male and females together because of dating rumours and they don't sell the same normally. A lot of "fans" of groups freak out whenever there is a dating rumour about their idols, so most companies try to limit male/female interactions. Which is sad. But KARD are amazing and they have a lot of chaotic sibling energy 😂💜

This song meaning is deep, because it's a slam on the crazy fans and netizens whom want to control their idols.

Heyyyy KARD my favorite CO-ED group... for some reason co-ed groups are not really big in Korea... but they ARE big in Latin America and KARD appeals to Latin America A LOT, they're not that big (sadly) in SK but they've been getting more love this recent cb (they were on hiatus because JSeph was serving in the military). Anyway Gunshot is a different style for them, they're mostly known for moombathon style music, but in recent cb they've been experimenting with new sounds and styles. You should definitely check out Ring the Alarm vs Break Down from the same album, u can clearly see the difference in sounds xD

As a Korean, Koreans don't know the group called k.a.r.d To be more precise, the company's public relations are too short and they don't spend money on them. there are so many groups in Korea and they have to compete with each other, and all singers can't win first place… and I didn't know this group existed

That and also because industry kinda had a lot of co-ed groups during the first generation kpop groups essentially and the korean public largely lost interest when 2nd generation came around. But like everyone else has mentioned, its mostly due to the scandals (dating, member bullying, assault between members). The big one i can remember was the bad blood between the female members of the coed group S#arp. Basically the group was created by one of the members' families (she was from a rich family) and the girl wanted the group to be with friends. But one of the female members got into the group through an actual audition and she was vocally talented. But that member was jealous of her and would physically and verbally abuse her and the jealous member's mom and boyfriend allegedly also started to abuse the victim. As for the victim, she suffered a lot and her whole experience had damaged her pretty badly. The group disbanded and they all pretty much went their separate ways. The victim did end up becoming a very successful soloist and all around entertainer and shes still very much active. The other members have kinda kept off the radar nowadays. Theres an article about it. Granted this might be an extreme case and isnt just regarding co-ed groups..but i can imagine that especially after this incident, companies probably didnt want to debut anymore co-ed groups. I think just the prospect of dealing with way more scandals scared most companies away from debuting more co-ed groups

If you do want to know who the most successful co-ed group is, theyre called Koyote, pronounced Koh Yo Teh. (For anyone interested) :) This co-ed group has been around since first generation and are still making music to this day. So from 1998-present. Its a shame no one seems to really know this group though
