Yep, but here's the kicker -- there isn't one note of original music in the entire film. It wasn't until Hateful Eight that he actually hired a composer to accompany the usual samples. It's funny cuz younger folks are actually reacting, (as you pointed out) to the usage of these samples in newer material. But what's lost on them is how obscure all this music was before Tarantino got a hold of it. Transformers, for example, got the sample from Kill Bill! The Ooh Ooh song, yes, was in an annoyjng commercial, but the commercial took it from this! It was unique and cool when we first heard it! Now, all this music is cliché. It's weird to explain to newer fans cuz Tarantino is also sampling, but let's face it... he introduced the music to general audiences.

These two movies weren't just popular films, they were cultural phenomenoms. Arguably the most successful of all films by Tarantino, they reshaped pop culture during the 2000s. You will find countless references to them in music, film, tv and other forms of media. Many things that have become tropes ever since, were originated in this movie, and you will also hear its soundtrack used in many other movies. Kill Bill itself was inspired by the grindhouse explotaition films of the sixties and seventies, that's where its aesthetic comes from. Originally, Tarantino planned a third film to involve Nikki (the little girl from the first scene). He was supposed to film it ten years after this one to allow the actress to grow up. But eventually he lost interest in the project. Can't wait to see your reaction to the second one, really good as well.

The girl who played "GoGo" Lucy Liu's bodyguard was in a Japanese Cult Classic called "Battle Royale." The movie was about a bunch of students put on an island and forced to kill each other leaving only one standing. Yes, it was pre Hunger Games and the idea for Hunger Games was most likely taken from it. The students all wore uniforms(I don't want to spoil the movie just in case you watch it.) that is why "Go Go" is wearing a uniform in this movie. Can't wait for you guys to watch part 2! Fun fact , what people originally think is the last scene ( the bride getting shot) is actually the first scene, and what they think is the first scene ( showing up to vernita greens house in the pussywagon) is actually the last scene of volume 1 movie which occurs after she kills Oren Ishi, she flies back to the US to drive to vernitas and kill her. The pussywagon is used as a bridge to invert the beginning and the end of the movie.😊 So Tarentino subverts expectations off the bat. And there are little things such as when Oren Ishi says ' you may not last 5 minutes', the subsequent fight scene is 4 minutes 50 seconds until shes dead from when the music starts at the fight.

Not sure if it is true, but I heard a rumor that the change to and from black and white was an artistic way around rules regarding the amount of blood allowed for a rated R film. From what I understand, Tarantino was told it was so bloody in its first cut that it would have to be NC-17, so this was a way around the rating requirements.

Ok. Y’all are all wrong. This was not a total Tarantino baby. While filming “Pulp Fiction”, between shots, Quinton and Uma would sit around and talk about how they loved the old 1970’s Spaghetti Western Kung Fu movies, like with Bruce Lee. So they started talking about about things like , “it would be so cool if he did this.” And the other would say, “oh! And what if she did that.” And Uma said, “why give her a name at first? How about if we call her The Bride.” They kept fleshing out the story line throughout Pulp Fiction and Tarantino wrote what they had talked about. That’s why it’s a “Q&U Production.” They used music from the beginning to the mid 1970’s, which is what they were going for anyway. Flight of the Bumblebee is dope! I’m a brass player and that piece scares me to death. While they were scouting locations, they came to a bar where the all girl Japanese group, The 5-6-7-8’s were playing. They were in high heels and then they took them off when they did “The Gong-Gong Song.” Tarantino said that they are going to be in his movie! I’ve got the soundtrack and can sing all of the songs in Japanese. Blake, I know you’re tired bless your heart but stay awake in the films. Lastly, everyone says they love Tarantino film but NO ONE will watch “Four Rooms!” The best of Comedy I’ve ever seen!

I love Quentin's movies but he was heavily inspired by martial arts films especially from the 70's. Check out "Kill Bill Vol 1: Where Does Homage end and Originality Begin" by Cinefix they break a lot down and have good points the director mentions in interviews.

When O-Ren and the bride both said "Silly raBbit, trix are for kids" can be translated into "silly Beatrix Kiddo". And among the vipers, they are the closest. Notice how O-Ren's eyes blinking before unsheathing her sword shows hesitation and how Bea can't seem to look at O-Ren's lifeless body. Out of all her fights with the vipers, their battle is the most sentimental. And O-Ren can also be the main character in her own story.

NICE! My favorite scene in the movie is the fight between The Bride and The Crazy 88's, slicing and dicing them left and right.

I thought the same thing. And then all the references to the soundtrack that they've heard elsewhere since. That in itself would've made me find out more about the source. Respect to The RZA 🙏🏽. Also, Uma and Quinton co-wrote the story for the screenplay 🖋

O-Ren and The Bride bowing to each other was something Lucy Liu suggested to Tarantino because it was something she learned while training for the film and the reasoning behind it was because while the two were enemies they still needed to respect each other because they’re both warriors.

I would love back story on those 2. I could see them having a friendship of sorts. At least as much as O-Ren was capable.

35:58 this song was used in a "Vonage" commercials back in 00s and Blake is correct, it got annoying because the commercial would be on all the time but this band was used in that commercial because of this movie, haha. And yep, Kobe got his name and icon from this movie. Glad you all are finally getting to this movie, can't wait for part 2 😎 Also, QT and Uma came up with the concept of this movie on the set of another of his movies, "Pulp Fiction."

The original of that song she's whistling at the hospital is from an OST of 60s movie called Twisted Nerve, a great movie Tarantino admires. Your rappers copied.
