Love this song, I always think of her voice as a 'bedroom' voice. She was also probably one of the people in the We Are The World video that you didn't know.

You need to understand that Betty Davis was popular actress from the 40s and the 50s. She was know for her killer blue eyes, thus the song Betty Davis Eyes. When this came out in 1981 it was a monster of a hit. I have always love the song and the way Kim's voice is with that growl that she has.

Just so ALL know Bette Davis first movie was in 1931 and by 1932 Pre-Code bad girl was a hit. Here eyes were always her feature and she had movies thru every decade. Most of here movies were B&W so few saw her eyes in them. Great Actor among the best females of all time.

This was about a modern 70s (it was written mid 70s) woman who had [Jean] Harlow hair, Greta Garbo stand off sighs (as in you bore me, peasant, lol) and Betty Davies famous eyes. So, its really about one woman who has the charectoristics of three famous golden era Hollywood legends.

The song also mentions Jean Harlow and Greta Garbo, along with Bette Davis. All three were known for their mysterious and sultry roles, more so the first two.

An homage to the great Betty Davis. You didn't say if you knew who Betty Davis was, many reactors don't. Betty Davis was an average-looking woman except for her extraordinarily large, beautiful, and expressive eyes. And she was an extraordinary actress. May I suggest that you be the first to react to "Gone With the Wind"? "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane" with Joan Crawford, and her first movie, "Of Human Bondage", with Leslie Howard. Leslie Howard also played Ashley in Gone with the Wind.
@rs-ye7kw2 жыл бұрын
Bette Davis was not in "Gone With the Wind". Perhaps you're thinking of another Civil War themed movie "Jezebel", which she starred in and was released a year or two before GWTW.

I LOVE this song and Kim's voice...SMOKEY! She can sing that in my ear all night long! (She's one of the singers on the "We Are The World" video that most folks don't recognize.) This is one of my favorite songs. It's a LONG list of favorite songs, but if I ever had to make one, this would be in there somewhere. (I could never make a list because if it wasn't like top 1000 favorites, it would break my heart to leave songs off of there.)

Bette Davis had these big eyes that as an actress she could really pull you in. She had maybe 3 academy awards. She played any genre or classification of movie. Kim carnes met her one time and bette thanx her and told her it meant a lot to her and that it was good for Hollywood. Bette made way over a hundred movies. This song was better for Hollywood than madonnas Voguewhich mentioned a lot of Hollywood stars. But the actors in her video were sex symbols and didn’t have the character Bette did. She acted all her life.
