Knocked Loose is from Kentucky. The first time theyade waves outside of the metal scene was at Coachella. Everyone was wondering if they were gonna go soft for the show. Instead, they made two super heavy songs that play into each other. Poppy started out making very odd KZbin videos. They were basically a pretty young woman doing strange skits that some found unnerving. As for music, she started with an industrial pop feel, with that same energy from her YT videos. She has just gotten heavier and heavier since, doing a good job of keeping bits of her past work in every new project she takes up. If you watch the regular video of this, her weird meshes so well with Knocked Loose it felt like she had always been in the band.

To answer your question Jeremy, Knocked Loose is from Kentucky. Haven't heard any of their stuff , other than this song, but I'm glad Kimmel put them on. The only other thing I've heard Poppy do , is when she joined Spiritbox, at Louder Than Life festival, this year performing "Soft Spine" by Spiritbox (you reacted to that song a couple months ago. Poppy came over right after she finished her set. Btw, Spiritbox also had another guest on their set there, Tatiana joined them for "Circle With Me". (Both of those vids are on yt).
@musikbyjhАй бұрын
Awesome!! Thanks for the comment! Kentucky! Wow, you don’t hear that very often. Good for them for blowing up! And yeah, we DEF need to do Tatiana with Spiritbox. It’s on our schedule. Just haven’t gotten to it yet. Thanks for checking out the reaction! Looking forward to more stuff like this!

Poppy started off, IIRC, pop, then nu metal, then heavy metal....getting heavier w/each album. Thing with these shows, you find out who is going to be on. Why can't people just Google the acts and decide if it's appropriate for your precious kid? The parents probably thought Metallica's kazoo performance on Jimmy Fallon in 2016 was too heavy 😆

please react to ppy's album if you got time~ poppy's the one reached to knocked loose to record this song that's not even originally on knocked's album! so that show's how she's so driven in the metal scene as a somewhat "newcomer"!
@yas7689Ай бұрын
Poppy's lore was so deep. TL;DR, Poppy started as an Alt-Pop-Rock cover artist, under her real name "Moriah" then scouted by a problematic creative partner Titanic and created "ThatPoppy" persona making pop culture sarcastic skits, then signed to big record label as Pop artist with mega pop hits like "Lowlife" (i suggest you give it a listen as to get an idea how she started vs where she's at now) then got big collab in pop scene with Guerrati (Gaga's producer), Diplo, Grimes, MTV, so and so.... then the partnership become messy, and Poppy gradually removes her ThatPoppy persona and embrace her authentic self, transition to nu-metal, then metal. then slowly got recognition in the metal scene, listen to her EAT EP, it's self produced and her heaviest EP.

One of the biggest years for metal that I can remember, as a long time metalhead, I can't get enough and Knocked Loose & Poppy deserve all the recognition and success they're getting. Haters always will hate on metal, they just don't get it, which is fine. Couldn't agree more though, if people don't like it, just change the channel and keep your negativity to yourselves. Much love!

Such a great performance, and with really good sound, too. Especially for a outdoor concert. The only sad thing for me was that they still censor “scary” words, but you cant have it all. I am going to see Poppy next summer, at a metal festival in Denmark, and i think its going to be great fun. I have heard this song a lot this year, and some other stuff she has made. She is a really interesting artist, with a very wide range genre wise.

Poppy is her own seperate thing. She has done everything from electro-pop to metal. It’s quite the rabbit hole if you wanna dig. Knocked Loose are from Louisville, and although they’re more metal, they’re heavily embraced by the hardcore community, and have toured with a lot of hardcore bands.
@musikbyjhАй бұрын
Yeah, it’s def clear that Knocked Loose phase those Hardcore vox. But like you said? The music def sounds more “metal” than straight up hardcore. Looking forward to hearing more from them. And Poppy. She sounds quite interesting 🤘🏽😎🤘🏽
@bradkohl99Ай бұрын
@ definitely look more into Poppy. It’s a wild journey from her electro-pop days, then to her creepy youtube videos, and now her metal phase. If you wanna check out someone who kind went the opposite way, Johnny Franck, the original guitarist from Attack Attack, now has a band called Bilmuri, and their latest release is easily my record of the year. It’s very different than what you would expect if you know Attack Attack.

Poppy is awesome, she's a solo artist and her music is very diverse. She's explores a lot of different genres, often mashing them up within a single song. Her latest album Negative Spaces is incredible and her heaviest yet (along with her EAT EP) - check out the latest single The Center Is Falling Out. Definitely recommend exploring her music, especially the albums I Disagree (more) and Flux. Prior to those she was releasing more pop / electronica music which went along with the character she played on her KZbin channel where she was basically AI programmed to become a pop star, it was a very weird and satirical take on the music industry. Poppy is a lot of fun!

It’s a variety show. This is included with the variety. They have authors, influencers, athletes, actors, musicians, family members, political figures, and whoever else. I don’t see why they would suddenly need to apologize over this. I hope they don’t. Especially with them having other metal bands on too.

@TigerTurbanАй бұрын
You guys keep saying "metal" are you familiar with hardcore?
@musikbyjhАй бұрын
Absolutely. Hardcore is a sub-genre of metal. And…to be honest, Knocked Loose’s music is a lot more metal than it is Hard Core. The vocals are def from the hardcore sub genre…but the music feels metal for me. (I’ve been in the metal community for 30+ years, and even hung with Hatebreed and camp on numerous occasions). I’m one of those metal heads that doesn’t get hung up on little things. This is Metal. If you wanted to break it down into subgenres, go for it. But the base of this is 100% Metal.
