As an Australian, it's such a weird thought that someone hasn't heard this song before. It was absolutely massive in Australia (and the UK) and even people who weren't into pop music really paid attention to it, and it was a huge turning point in her career.

I*ve heard it before and I even had to get the CD because this song is many ways so weird, complicated and, may I say, proggish. I simply love it.

Shes much better and much more talented than quite a few people give her credit for. She stands alone in pop for straddling mainstream, club, alternative, experimental, etc ..all very well. The simple fact is that she's got excellent taste. Willing to try anything, and it gives her incredible street cred. Just love her and SO many things from her discography.

Kylie has put a spell on us in the UK since 1987, so many great songs, we love her over here, my fav's, "Better the devil you know" "i believe in you" "Better than today" "Never too late" "Where the wild roses grow" so many more i could choose, in truth i much prefer her early songs with S/A/W , but one thing is for sure Kylie never disappoints & she NEVER ages, gotta be some kind of magic going on there lol

This is one of those songs that instantly sums up the vibe of the 90's for me. Slightly grubby and grungy, with a mildly psychedelic aspect. I was mostly exploring Seattle Grunge at the time, but it's amazing how alternative Club and Pop got at the time, in hindsight. Kylie is a good shout though to dig in to, plenty of varied back-catalogue there for you as she's not afraid to reinvent her style. "Can't get you out of my Head" and "All the lovers" would be good to check out as some of her more iconic ones, but there are so many, you'll probably get a million different combination of suggestions.
@lukepercival34272 ай бұрын
"Spinning Around" and "Better the Devil You Know" are more traditional bouncy pop, as are a lot of her earlier bits, but they are far less interesting in my opinion. I'm sure many on here would disagree with me though.

At nearly 57, and 37+ years of consistent music-making, there's a huge and rich catalogue for you to delve into! My personal favorite album and tour is Aphrodite from 2010; it's a must-listen. However, her penultimate album so far, Disco from 2020, offers a great glimpse into her most recent work that I love (not a huge fan of last year’s Tension album), followed by 2007’s X. If you’re after dance, I’d say try last year’s World-wide smash and Grammy winning singe Padam Padam. She’s released 10 studio albums just since 2000 alone (16 in total since 1987). In the UK, her last four albums have all reached impressive chart positions: no.2 for Kiss Me Once in 2014, followed by three consecutive no.1s for Golden (2018), Disco (2020), and Tension (2023), with none of her albums falling below no. 6 in any of those 5 decades. Incredibly, she's now the ONLY female artist in the UK to have achieved at least one no.1 album in five consecutive decades (80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, & 20s), joining an elite group: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Paul Weller, and Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour-some big names she’s up there with! With nine no.1 albums under her belt now (so far!), she's surpassed artists like Elton John and George Michael in the all-time charts leaderboard. And to add to all this, she won her second Grammy for Padam Padam this year, and won the Global Icon Award at the Brit Awards 2024. She's also very recently finished her sold-out Las Vegas residency at The Venetian. It’s a shame most of America just hasn’t taken to her in the way the rest of the planet has-Goddess of pop! 🔥🙌🏼❤️

I LOVE that you finally discovered Kylie. "Confide In Me" is one of my absolute favorites, and kind of a strange one to pick for your first song, but glad you loved it and felt "hypnotized" by it. Kylie is constantly reinventing herself (kind of like Madonna). Her live concerts are some of the best production you will see. She recently did a residency in Las Vegas (that I am so disappointed that I missed, since she has never done a full tour in the US). It is hard to recommend the next song you should listen to since they are all so good. I would probably say "Dancing" is a good next song. Can't wait to see more of your Kylie reactions. :)

‘No More Rain’, her first release after surviving cancer and its treatment is a poignant and beautiful song. As a British teenager in 1986, when ‘Charlene’ broke into ‘Madge’s’ house and I saw Kylie for the first time, I was a fan. Within a few weeks she was a megastar in Britain. The an immense popstar in 1988, when I was 15 and was tall and hairy enough to get into nightclubs, I came out as a Kylie fan. This subsequently caused another coming out which Kylie and Erasure helped a lot… So I was devastated when I heard she was unwell and “No More Rain” represented her strength to stay alive and make more music. Embarrassingly, for me, I was on a packed commuter train listening to Radio 1 on my Walkman when the presenter introduced it I knew I was getting emotional. A 6’2” man with a 2mm buzz cut who was overcompensating his sexuality was about to cry in public, jammed into a train with no escape… I turned towards the door and listened to the song. The doors opened and I just got off the train and had a quiet cry. Then I decided to take the bus instead and got lost… Sorry for the long story 😂
