This is the song the band is most proud of, Robert wrote the lyrics while him & Jimmy drove across the Sahara Desert. It took a couple years, to get the music the way they wanted. Robert loves Morocco so much, & goes there often. The song is about the people & music, & the landscape there, a great song with many layers to it. Robert & Jimmy at some point after the group split up, got Moroccan musicians to tour with them.

Such fun watching the reaction. I was at this show. I am in the audience watching. Spent the day watching a succession of bands playing in the English sun in the grounds of Knebworth House, looking behind us people as far as you could see. Then as it went dark on they came, bloody amazing. I was a Punk rocker at the time, but still appreciated good rock.

Good point you make - it was such a volatile time, musically - I was in a band back then at the age of 16 (Page was my hero and I learned guitar because of him) and we covered a couple of Zep and Thin Lizzy songs but also a couple by the Pistols and Damned too - it was all the same to us - just kick-ass music with attitude

P. Diddy used this for the Godzilla movie and Jimmy Page played guitar for him. Zeppelin did this in 1975... Zeppelin is the greatest band to ever grace the planet!

Definitely check out "Since I've been Loving You" live at MSG '75! But I also recommend checking out "Kashmir" from their Celebration Day concert, if not on your channel at least on your own time...they are in their 60's and imo it is a WAY more epic version than this one! The concert (in 2007, I think), when announced, sold out in 20 min. and had over 20 million ticket requests!❤

Robert Plant, turned 31 weeks after these shows, turned 75 this August. He still writes and performs ... He is considered one of the greatest vocalists of all time, and not just in the "Rock" genre, being voted 15th all time on Rolling Stone Mag's list. They hadn't played live in 2 years leading up to this, 4 years on English soil, since the death of his 5 yr old son Karic ended their last US tour 10 dates short in 77. They were paid the single largest fee for a performance by any band up until this point to headline this huge open-air venue that had been putting on these festivals since 74. When they announced their benefit concert at the 02 Arena in 2007, 20 million requests for tickets to the one-time farewell show were made in 2 hours, literally breaking the internet, and setting the world record for ticket requests to any show, anywhere, of all time! A lottery was used to reward 18k+ lucky fans, check out some lives of this performance. They rehearsed for 6 weeks after not playing together for 27+ years, with John Bonham's son, Jason, on the drum kit.

Knowing how much Gabe loves his guitars, I was really worried he wouldn't like this, so I am really glad/relieved he did! Phew! You need to show him Queen, Under Pressure now - goes along a similar vein. Wembly 86 live is a good version.

Like many Zeppelin songs, the lyrics can be taken literally, or figuratively and symbolically. Kashmir is an oasis in a desert...but you could interpret it to mean much more.

If it wasn't for zeppelin their would be no metal! Back in 69 zeppelin gave birth to metal around the three minute mark on Dazed and confused metal was born! After their first album we got Black Sabbath who said Zeppelin was a huge influence to them! As Ozzy said when zeppelins first album debut it was mind blowing! And changed the direction the music would go!

Sad, but the drummer would be dead in a year from this concert. And that was the end of Zeppelin. If you watch the reunion concert from around 2006 or the Heart tribute of Stairway, the drummers son fills in for him.

It's not the soundtrack to Godzilla! It was a song they used for a small part of the movie! Diddy got permission to cover the song but Jimmy Page said only I do the guitar to the song! So Jimmy Page played the guitar for the soundtrack!

Not all songs from the 70s that were sampled or paid for. A lot of times the artist didn’t wanna go through the hassle taking someone to court so they let it go. It doesn’t happen much anymore.

Not a big fan of first time reactions to live versions. The thing about a live performance is that you're there, a part of the crowd, the atmosphere. You lose all that watching on a screen. BUT you can capture some of that back with a properly recorded/engineered studio version. Just my take.

I guarantee that Mr Daddy made almost nothing from that cover! Don't worry the lions share of writing credits would have gone to Page, and Bonham! Come With Me didn't sample Kashmir, it was a cover, and it certainly wouldn't have been theft!

This is good but the original studio version off Physical Graffiti is better. In this particular case nothing beats the original. Because #1 it sounds better and #2 vocalist Robert Plant doesn't screw up the songs lyrics.

All kinds of music, genres, were influenced by older music genres😂Jimi Hendrix, was fan of Bach😂Jimmy Page, loved Chopin! Rock stars took a lot of things from classical musicians😂Rappers, took a lot of things, from rock musicians😂If i remember, correctly, Jimmy Page, played the guitar, on the Puff daddy's cover! Where is the problem? I love all genres! Rappers, hip hop stars, created that genre, by listening to rock music, songs like KASHMIR, or WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS, from LED ZEPPELIN, or JIMI HENDRIX AND THE BAND OF GYPSIES.....Those geniuses created the beat, the way to play, and, sing, rappers used to created rap, hip hop, later.....That's normal.....Peace from France guys.....✌️👍
