Jones, in addition to being a premier bassist, organist, pianist, composer and orchestral arranger was also an elite mandolin player.

Zep's live shows typically ran 3 hours, and sometimes 4 hours, every night, night after night. Not only did they play long shows, they played ferociously....on the edge of insanity. Amazing stamina.

Page had a legendary guitar, custom built specifically for him by Gibson. It was a double guitar. Six string electric on top. Twelve string acoustic on bottom. This made it very easy to switch out between one and the other, mid-song.
@highendservicesbarrieont83479 ай бұрын
And they have just remade it exactly...and recently released....it
@philosopher00769 ай бұрын
Wrong. Both necks are electric, no acoustic. And the 12 string is on top. And it wasn't MADE for Page. It was a line of guitars Gibson had already been producing. Several country music acts had already been using them awhile.
@robbob53029 ай бұрын
@@philosopher0076 Actually, by the time Jimmy Page wanted one, the model had been discontinued. So Gibson needed to custom build his.

"All of my love" is another fantastic but "different" song in that its more produced with amazing sounds and instruments plant wrote for his son after he died.

Fun fact for ya- Zeppelin never spent a single dollar advertising. It was all word of mouth and playing shows. They just kept growing and growing and then magazines wanted to interview them. Then they made the movie The Song Remains The Same, probably the only thing they ever did that you could call advertising. Just goes to show, if you’re good, you’re good, and these guys are legendary. I love learning Zeppelin songs on guitar.

Some of their tours had quite a few cities, they also in some cities played 3 to 5 nights. Most of their concerts were 3 to 4 hours long also. They did have years they didn’t tour, like when Plant & family were in a bad car accident, Plant was in a wheelchair for about a year. When Plants son passed away, they didn’t tour for quite awhile, Plant wanted to quit the band & teach. I know at some point with touring, they would play so many days & have a down day or two, to protect Plants voice. Today Plant still sounds better then many singers, but the way he sang took a toll on his vocals, sad with how beautiful it was.

Led Zeppelin had so many great Deep Cuts that never really received much radio play. My Top 5 recommendations of these hidden gems include: - The Rover - Ten Years Gone - Down By the Seaside - Out on the Tiles - Baby Come on Home

There is a book written about Led Zeppelin called hammer of the gods. If you read that you'll understand why their tours were grueling, it wasn't all on stage or traveling around

Every song is amazing!! I swear! Also watch their live performances! Jimmy almost exclusively played guitar but yes JPJ played a triple neck guitar live on a song...cant remember which song it was now 😢 but yeah any string or keys JPJ can play!! Also in Battle Of Evermore Jimmy actually picked up JPJs mandolin and played it...never played one before! You need to hear that song!

They stayed on the road partly because of tax laws in the uk, which took a drastic amount of their money if they resided at home. By being on the road they could claim residency elsewhere and save tons of money (which their manager was happy to help himself to) In addition to this, the violence of the crowds, and the fact that Plant's voice was exhausted after years of 2-3 hour shows, they were literally worn out by this point
