Greta Van Fleet....is a band out there now that sounds exactly like Led Zep....same style. Now their parents brought them up well...lol... I have four kids age 18 to 30 and they all were raised with great music and know all the great bands. I always laughed when their friends would be over and would love the music and my kids couldn't believe their friends didn't know the music. I may be old but I experienced great concerts and best thing about it.... no cell phones back then to record all the crazy shit we did...lol

I’m so overwhelmed that you young men are listening to the bands. I was born in London over 75 years ago and grew up with most of the top groups. I knew personally so many of them and we all agreed that we had been blessed to have so much creativity going on: bands, artists, writers, musicians, photographers the lot. @@Schwertfisch13 Maybe they were inspired by Taurus, but the intro of Stairway is very different from Taurus. I don't say Led Zeppelin didn't cover some songs and sometimes didn't give credit, but the Stairway intro differs a lot from the Taurus melody, which is pretty boring. Despite the fact that when I play Taurus on my guitar I would grab different chords to play these tunes.

I was in high school in the 80s, so this was something we all listened to. One of my teachers told us the story of when he went to one of their shows in St. Louis, and when they broke after the first set for an intermission, Jimmy Page came right back out with his guitar, pulled up a chair with his back to the crowd, and did a solo for almost 45 minutes. I would have loved to have been there.

This is the band that metal bands attempted to emulate, and Robert Plant’s voice the one they tried to mimic. Try “Whole Lot of Love”, and it will give you a good example of this.

Total rock classic, so glad I heard Led Zeps music in my life. I played this track the day of my husbands funeral, due to covid, nobody was able to be there, not even me, so at exactly 9.10 when his cremation was taking place, we all of us played this track for him wherever were were and wished him well.

Led Zeppelin, the first time hearing them, omg. I was only about 14 when I first heard them and fell in love instantly, and am still there! They were Gods to me! Of course they were, all four of them, freaks! Impossibly good, amazingly talented, and wonderfully unique. That was when music could stir your soul, when your heart beat in time to their beat and you lived within their music. It doesn’t do that these days but I don’t know if it’s because the music isn’t what it used to be or if I’m not what I used to be!

I was two months old when this song was released on the band's iconic fourth ( untitled ) album in 1971. I was fourteen when I first knowingly heard it myself and had it taped from the radio in 1986. 2003 was the year I actually got into classic rock for real and finally bought that fourth Led Zeppelin album to hear it in its entirety. Nobody will believe me, but the truth is, I couldn't remember how Stairway To Heaven went, lol, even though it was one of my favorite songs in my teens! But as soon as it came on I did, of course, remember, and it was so cool to hear it again, after having spent well over a decade not listening to music, apart from having the MTV of old on in the background, and thus not hearing the song ( that's what you get when you don't listen to the radio and spend a looooot of time by yourself, hahah... ) So, here we are, yet again almost two decades later, and I love witnessing people like you discover these classic songs for the first time, just like I did way back when. Music is eternal.

It's crazy to think of how long this song has been around. I remember listening to this on a cassette heading to Cali over 20 years ago, and it had been around 20+ years before that. I have a son who is now 7. Very much into music like myself. When he was 3 years old, I played this on vinyl for him. He sat in my recliner for the entire duration of this song. Half way through, I asked him what he thought and he gave me this look of "Dad! I'm listening to it...leave me alone" 48 years, that this song has been around. And it is still just as prolific today as it was in 1971. That's a true sign of artistry As far as other LZ songs to try out How Many More Times (You can really hear the blues influence) In My Time Of Dying Trampled Under Foot (A lot of funk feel to it) Dazed & Confused When The Levee Breaks Moby Dick (The live version at Earls Court) You mentioned how you liked the drummer. You will be gobsmacked at how good he really is.

Great Review. I would love to see your reaction to other Zep tunes. I don't think they made a bad song or even a mediocre song, they are all masterpieces. You should really listen to the link I left below regardless as to whether or not you do a "review". It was recorded live in 1969 for a Danish television station to promote their first album and introduce the band to the public. They performed on a tiny stage in a small room in front of about 30 or so kids who sat in stunned silence. The band had only been together for about 5 or 6 months, Robert Plant (singer) and John Bonham (drummer) were only 19 or 20 years old, John Paul Jones (bass) and Jimmy Page (guitar) were only 23 or 24 at the time. The entire promo concert is about 31 minutes long and includes 4 songs. Their performance has been hailed as one of the most pivotal moments in Rock history. Keep in mind this is a live performance in front of a tv studio audience, it has not been "touched up" or remastered in any way. This is the original recording that aired on live television. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oV66hJWDjJx1hsU

In my younger day, I frequented a bar, where everyone from town hung out on the weekends. On Fridays there was dancing. Disco music and other songs, but no matter what, the last song every time was Stairway to Heaven. Every person was asked to dance, so the whole place was on the dancefloor. Very fond memories!
