Robert Plant on killer harmonica and killer vocals!

He's playing the harmonica through a guitar amp and that gives it that crazy wailing sound. Plus he's just good at it. That's Robert, the singer, playing it.

That's one of the best things about Zep, no two songs sound the same. They are like a box of chocolates and in a genre of their own

The first concert I ever attended was Led Zeppelin at the old Fulton County Stadium in Atl in the mid 70's. My older brother snuck me away from home and opened my eyes to great music. Robert Plant is extremely versatile, he recently toured and recorded with country/folk/bluegrass artist Alison Krauss, even winning a Grammy for their colab album.

They recorded this in an old country villa. They put the drums at the bottom of a multi level stairwell and mounted microphones on several levels in the stairwell. There's a video about Zeppelin and especially this songs drums influenced the sound of Hip Hop.

Considered the most destructive river flooding in U.S. history, “The Great Flood of 1927” inspired Mississippi natives, Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie, to write and record “When the Levee Breaks” in 1929. This flood helped cause "The Great Migration"; when thousands of black people left the South, and moved up North for better jobs, housing, lives, etc. Led Zeppelin made this Version in 1971. I remember when my cousins bought the Album. Brings back great memories.

For shorter songs, try YES. Many of their songs run from 9 to 23 minutes!...and not a wasted note in any of them.

Next Led Zeppelin - Kashmir, Going to California and Battle of Evermore. Edit: We used to smoke weed and listen to LZ which made it feel and sound ethereal, sublime and unearthly. What a time to be alive and we didn’t even know it then. It’s true that youth is wasted on the young. 😂😂

Swampy sound of the delta …. Ah-- the 70’s were grand-we could hardly wait for each new album to be released. Music was not instantly at our fingertips like today. You bought the album or had to wait and hope you caught it on the radio.

A number of songs by Led Zeppelin were the reworking of old blues standards by the likes of Robert Johnson and, in this case, Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie or they contained snippets of old blues songs. Led Zeppelin often failed to give writing credit for those old blues songs to the original composers. For example, Willie Dixon sued the band in 1985 for use of his "You Need Love" in Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" and won, receiving writing credit on subsequent releases of the latter song and an undisclosed amount of money. A similar suit for use of "Killing Floor" by Howlin' Wolf used in Led Zeppelin's "Lemon Song" was settled and Howlin' Wolf received some royalty payments and a co-writer song credit.
